1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [3325].

3. Here, as we find, there are incoordinations between the eliminating channels of the body. Often the poisons that should be eliminated through alimentary canal have become part of the eczema condition; not true eczema but a rash over portions of the body that becomes very terrifying and irritating.

4. These conditions are gradually causing torpidity in the liver, and also a kidney disturbance. Thus we have painful joints, pain in the extremities and even in the muscular forces of the back, the shoulders and neck. This is a form or type of neuritis, or the inflammation of the nerves, by the pressure of the toxic forces and poisons that are being carried on through the circulatory system.

5. Also these conditions, as indicated at times, cause accumulations about those centers and in the active principles of the organs of the sensory system. Hence, unless great changes are made, there will come hindrances to the sense of smell, of hearing, and pains in the eyes, and affecting the taste and the like. These are conditions respecting which the body should be warned. Thus the character or nature of changes that should be brought about.

6. Three days each week, for at least an hour each day, we would apply hot Castor Oil Packs over the liver and the caecum area. These should extend along the right side from the area close in the crotch on the right side, up over the area of the ascending colon, and to the area over the liver. Apply these warm and then apply an electric pad, low heat.

7. On the evening of the third day, after the third Pack has been used, take internally at least a tablespoonful of Olive Oil. Then rest. Follow this procedure for three consecutive days each week, for at least three to four weeks.

8. Of course, this will irritate the condition through the skin area. Powder the skin with stearate of zinc powder carrying balsam. This will keep down irritation.

9. After the second or third week it will begin to disappear, as the system is cleansed.

10. After the third week (not before) have a high colonic irrigation scientifically or professionally given. For such colonics, use a salt and soda solution, the proportions being a heaping teaspoonful of table salt and a level teaspoonful of baking soda thoroughly dissolved in a gallon of water body temperature. In the last gallon of rinse water dissolve at least a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline.

11. Then we would begin taking Mullein Tea, prepared in this manner: In an enamel or glass container (as a china teapot or the like) put one dram (by weight) of dried Mullein, and pour a pint of boiling water over it. Let this set for at least thirty minutes. Then strain off and drink at least a quarter of a pint of it each day.

12. In the diet, - do not take certain of combinations. Do not eat potatoes and white bread and such, at the same meal. No two of such things should be taken at the same meal. Do not take citrus fruits and cereals at the same meal, though both of these should be taken - but not on the same day.

13. Do have plenty of sea foods. These should include shell fish as well as other fish, however, but those that have excessive quantities of iodine (as sea foods) that may be absorbed through the system for better glandular circulation.

14. Occasionally, - that is, two mornings in succession each week (and the same two mornings each week), take internally one drop of Atomidine in half a glass water before breakfast.

15. Do these and we will find bettered conditions for this body.

17. (Q) What can be done for bad scalp condition (which doctors do not seem to be able to diagnose - which is also very uncomfortable under the nails on both hands and feet). (A) These applications as we have indicated are to take care of the whole condition existent with the body. For the specific irritation in head or scalp, apply locally the DDD prescription to allay the itching.

Dear Edgar Cayce:

If you will kindly refer to your records for October 28, you will find you gave a reading for my sister [3325].

We had the diagnosis and the suggested treatment, which we followed very closely. The high colonic irrigation was taken last week and she is still taking the Atomidine two days each week, and has now started on the mullein tea.

This is what we would like to know, the pain and stiffness is worse than ever, the little finger of the left hand becoming drawn inward, and pain in the thighs so severe that she is forced to take pain pills every day, and cannot stand up or sit down without help; now, should the whole treatment be taken over again, and how long should it be kept up? Should she have more than one colonic irrigation, and how many and how far apart?

The condition on the scalp has become some better, but for the past week has made no change. The nails are very much better on the hands, but little better on the feet.

I should report too, that during the high colonic there was no bowel movement, but a great deal of mucous.

Is it possible to have a recheck of this patient, and how long will she have to wait for this, and what will it cost?

Of course my sister has been sick for over a year and had tried so many doctors, with no results, that she had high hopes from this treatment, and I am afraid she expected results too quickly, and as a result is now rather discouraged, as you can understand. I feel sure that this treatment has helped her enormously and hope and pray that you can hold out a helping hand to her again in her misery.

P.S. My sister says she always seems to have more pain and feels stiffer after taking the Atomidine. What would cause this?

Dear Mrs. […]

I thank you for yours of the 30th. I don’t quite understand about the response apparently that your sister is making. In some respects it appears much better and in others very much worse. Possibly it would be well to leave off the Atomidine for a couple of weeks. Continue all the rest of the treatments and then begin again and take it maybe just once a week instead of quite so often. Take only a very small quantity. If she is not a great deal better, by the first of the year, write me and and we will try to arrange to get a check reading to see just what is the trouble.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Following directions in your letter of December 10th, my sister cut down the dosage of atomidine from 1 drop in half glass of water for two days, to one drop in half glass of water only ONE day between the treatments. The effect seems to be that the pain, which is almost unbearable at all times, becomes worse for a day or two. Then of course when the oil packs are resumed the pain seems to settle down, then again at the end of the three treatments another dose of Atomidine. The pain is at all times so great that she has to resort to pain pills and after taking the atomidine as many as six a day.

The pain which was most severe in the wrists and ankles and thighs has moved up into the neck and the right arm and hand. Of course the pain has never stood still, it has moved from time to time to nearly all parts of the body. But I mean to say that the pain is much less severe in the ankles and thighs than it had been.

The conditions on the scalp and fingernails and toenails is much improved, elimination from kidneys and bowels is much improved. After the first high colonic, there was little or no bowel movement, but much mucous. After the second there was some faeces and still considerable mucous.

Last August my sister had all of her teeth removed, thinking to help her condition, and from that time to now, she has ben living on light foods, a great many juices, puddings, etc.

Now she has gotten her false teeth and of course will be able to eat more solid food.

The pain pills were given to her by an Osteopath whom she had consulted, and who diagnosed her case as rheumatoid arthritis. She is no longer under his care, but is following your treatments slowly; with the exception of the pain pills which she has taken regularly every day for over a year. These seem to have a limbering up effect which enables her to move around a little better.

She is very anxious to have a check reading, and says she will follow directions faithfully. We are all so thankful for your help as we feel that she would never have recovered even if part of it had not been for your help.

Replying to yours of the second, I note what you have to say about your sister’s condition. I believe after the use of the Atomodine, if you would apply saturated solution packs of epsom salts on the place of the pain, it will relieve it. Dear Sir:

Am inclosing the little slip which I received this morning for the recheck for my sister, [3325] also list of questions.

Am very sorry that you have been ill, and do hope that you have overcome your illness, and are on the way to perfect health.

My sister would like to know what she can do for the skin condition on her head and toes, also a spot on the back. Then there is stiffness and swelling and terrific pain in hands and wrists, and particularly the right hand wrist and arm and shoulder, also the right ankle and the left thigh.

The pain is so great and the stiffness so bad that she has to resort to pain pills all the time, as many as six a day, or she is unable to move.

Am enclosing money order for $10.00 for this reading, and my sister will be at her home at …, in the front bedroom, second floor, on March 15th between 10:30 and 11:30 A.M.

Dear Miss Davis:

In reply to yours of March 17th, in regard to re-check reading for my sister, [3325] am sorry to report that Mr. […] has grown impatient with results, and has insisted that my sister go to a medical man, who has taken her to the hospital. In view of this fact a re-check reading would be impossible and impracticable, as you can readily understand.

Because of the fact that her stay in the hospital might be a long one, and of the heavy expense her illness has already entailed, would it be possible for us to have a refund of the $10.00 money order which I sent to you in payment of the re-check reading?

Now as to my letter of March 4th regarding a free psychic reading, I am sorry, I had forgotten about the conditions in having the first reading, and when the membership card came I simply misunderstood it, forgive me please, and perhaps later it will be possible for me to ask for a Life reading, when Mr. Cayce is feeling better and his work is not so heavy.

We are so sorry about Mr. Cayce’s continued illness and I am wondering if his eagerness to help others, which makes it necessary to dwell too much in the psychic realms has endangered his physical health. Though I suppose Mr. Cayce would be like the Indian disciple of a yoga Master, who when he told him of a Mantram which would give him liberation, asked if he could tell other men of the mantram, and the Master replied no, if you do it will mean your death. The disciple looked into the Master’s eyes and asked “what will it mean to the man to whom I tell it”? “Liberation” said the Master. The disciple immediately ran out into the market place and shouted his secret to the multitude.

Thank you for your letter of March 21st.

I am very sorry that we were not able to get the Check Reading for your sister Mrs. [3325] in time to be of help.

We are returning herewith the ten dollars which you sent in payment for the Check Reading we did not get. I certainly hope that the treatment she is now taking will be of benefit.

Mr. Cayce is feeling much better now and has resumed appointments. I think your illustration concerning the Indian disciple of a Yoga Master is very apt. However, he is trying very hard to keep from overdoing and I hope will be able to continue the appointments now without interruption.
