This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [3356], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:05 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Conn.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3356].

3. As we find, there are disturbing forces. Some of these may be materially aided. Others must be met within self. If these conditions had been taken in times back, changes might have been wrought. In the present these are not necessarily karmic but if they are looked upon or accepted as such, then you will meet it. But these are physical and mental rather than the sources being spiritual directions misused.

4. These are the conditions as we find:

5. While the blood supply carries on, it is very deficient in the quantity of the red blood cells. While there are structural conditions that hinder, these may be materially aided - not the structural conditions but the blood supply through same, with certain changes and the addition of certain vitamins - iron, phosphorous, calcium. These added in the correct way and manner will materially aid in this, and also aid in the digestion - which is at times very much upset.

6. Through the alimentary canal we find a great deal of disturbance produced by gas in the lower portion of the jejunum and through the colon area. This would be better aided by a series of high colonic irrigations being taken. But these would have to be scientifically given, so as to cleanse the colon without producing a great deal of inflammation. Hence there should be used an antiseptic solution for the colonics. Put a heaping teaspoonful of table salt and a level teaspoonful of baking soda to each half gallon of water used for the first cleansing. Use a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline to the half gallon of rinse water used last. Have the water body temperature, not colder not hotter, and it will not be a drain on the body. The first two colonics we would have within a period of ten days, then they may be made about ten days apart. We would have sufficient of these to cleanse the colon, so that there is no mucous in same. This should be done before beginning the properties we will suggest as the tonic. Hence there should be some six to eight colonics taken before we would begin the tonic. This will ease the nerve forces throughout the body, making for better equilibrium in the whole circulation through the alimentary canal and throughout the lungs, the liver and the kidneys. These organs will be much better balanced in their circulation, if the poisons are cleansed in this manner before beginning the use of the body-building forces.

7. When the body has been thoroughly cleansed (not before), we would begin the taking of KalDak. Take a level teaspoonful once a day, dissolved in a small quantity of hot water and then the glass filled with milk - which is preferable for this body.

8. As for structural conditions, these may be eased through the shoulder and portions of the cerebrospinal system by occasional oil massages. These will not be corrected. In the neck and shoulder, where there is the stiffness and the tendency for the turning of same, these have become static. But don’t try to change same. Only build the vitality of the body, and use the oil rubs. Combine, for such massaging:

Olive Oil…2 ounces, Peanut Oil…2 ounces, Lanolin (liquefied)…1/4 ounce.

9. As for the conditions of the eyes, continue to use those drops that have been used. These are very well. And the general strength of the body builded up will change the muscular forces of the face, the eyes, and the whole activity of the body.

10. Do those things consistently and persistently.

12. (Q) Shall I continue taking Atomidine? (A) No, we would leave this off in the present. And we would begin the KalDak, when the system has been cleansed.

13. (Q) What can I take to make eggs and milk digest? (A) Rather cleanse the system, and we will find that this will add considerably to the ability of the system to produce the correct balance of the gastric flows for digestion. The adding of the general strength will aid.

A small quantity occasionally of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin will be helpful, until the system is thoroughly cleansed by the colonics. Take six to eight drops in a glass of water after the heavier meal of the day.

14. (Q) What can be done to conquer the many allergies to certain fruits and vegetables that I am afflicted with? Is the cause psychological? (A) Cleanse the system! These arise from toxic conditions through the alimentary canal.

15. (Q) What will stop the tendency to itching piles? (A) Clean the system! And then, whenever there is the necessity, use Pazo Ointment, or this combination of oils as an injection:

Glycerine…1 ounce, Carbolic Acid…2 drops, Usoline or Nujol…1 ounce.

Mix these very thoroughly, and inject about a tablespoonful at the time - when this becomes necessary; though it will not be necessary if these and other things are done. Clean the alimentary canal, the whole colon, and this will keep down such disturbances.

Do that.

16. (Q) When I fall down, is it due to wrong thinking? (A) Not necessarily; it may be forgetfulness. And this is also a part of those reflexes from the general debilitation or the lack of nerve connections through the body. The rubs, and all of this given will be helpful for the body.

17. (Q) What caused the little deformity in the way my head and neck are placed? Can it be corrected now? (A) Structural conditions, where there were segments becoming hardened or pulled to the side, and these gradually have crystallized there. As indicated, don’t try to correct them. We might produce such pressures as to set up inflammation and it would be the worse for the body. But massaging and relaxing same will be helpful. And do it with the oils.

18. We are through for the present.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

At this Christmas Season I want to express my very deep appreciation of your help. Surely God’s hand directed me to you. I am constantly giving thanks.

My Physical Reading gave the exact diagnosis that my Osteopath had made four years ago. She tried to remedy the condition by manipulation which kept me patched up but not cured.

The remedy suggested in the Reading is the one thing no allopath nor osteopath had recommended. I started at once with this treatment and am IMPROVING! Yes, for the first time in years I am definitely improving instead of gradually getting worse. I am so grateful.

Now that I am going to be a WELL WOMAN, my Life Reading takes on added importance for I have learned from it that I can become a successful Astrologer. The entire Reading took up the incarnations that showed former interest in Nature and the Stars. At one time - in Persia - I was a successful astrologer, sandreader, and soothsayer. I recognized my “inner voices” and obeyed them.

Since nothing good is ever lost, I know that I still have the “inner voices” but have been afraid to heed them. Your horoscope that I cast, is an exception for I wrote in it the inspiration that was given me. Yes, you really are that wonderful person whether or not you will admit it!

Although sixty-four-and-a-half years old, I feel that my life is beginning all over again. For the first time since 1924, when my eyes failed, I have hopes of really accomplishing something that may help to solve problems for those who are interested.

In your great generosity you gave me this Reading for a horoscope which was NOT a fair bargain for you. However, in some time, in some way, God will make it possible for me to repay you. In the meantime, I thank you with all my heart.

The eight friends I took to New York to hear you were completely satisfied for your personality verified all that I had told them about you. Three of them had not read the BOOK.

R2. 3/26/45 (Monday) [3356]‘s letter to Kathryn Patterson:

Kathryn dear:-

You’ve been on my mind to write you, and your letter this morning has started me. Thank you so much for telling me about Mrs. Cayce’s illness. From Gladys’ last letter in the Bulletin I sensed that she might not be with us much longer.

You know, Kathryn, I think we should all rejoice that she is going to join Mr. Cayce. If he were in California she would be put on the train with such joy and gladness that they were going to be together again.

There is NO death, therefore we should not even try in our prayers to hold her back. I wonder sometimes if we extended Mr. Cayce’s suffering by our refusal to give up and let him go. All of us were selfish and thought this world needed him most. Let’s be unselfish now, and be happy that they are soon to be together again.

When I pass on, I want my friends to sing the Hallelujah Chorus. Yes, that is the way I feel about it and I do not grieve when any loved one goes Over.

I so often give thanks that the way was opened for you to remain at Virginia Beach. Last summer when you told me about your work in Youngstown I wanted to say then to please find a place for yourself somewhere else. God, through Mr. Cayce, took care of you - and He will continue it. My suggestion now is this - why not take a nurse’s Aid training and prepare yourself to be a professional Practical Nurse. Many women do this work with now more training than you’ve already had, bug with a little extra study you would be fitted to register at the Nurses’ Registry as a Practical nurse. Sally’s brother would give you a recommendation I am sure, and you would like the work - wouldn’t you?

Many Hospitals are giving this training or could tell you where to go for it. I do NOT want you to return to Youngstown unless it is a duty to your parents. Your horoscope indicates greater opportunity and happiness elsewhere.

I am positively THRILLED that you danced and had a gay time in Florida. You need good times of that sort to prize you out of your seriousness and reserve. Yes, Saturn clamped down on you but you need not let him hold this barrier around you forever. You broke it down in Florida - now KEEP IT DOWN!

Please tell Gladys that she is doing a very splendid job in the Office and I am so glad that she is in full charge. This where she belongs until Hugh Lynn returns and then together they can work out the future plans for the Association.

I don’t think I’ve ever said anything in a letter that was worth printing in her “Letter”, so I’ve never given her permission. Besides, it would be just one more letter to read. However, you may tell her this for me and that will save me a lot of bother for her. When Mrs. Cayce Crosses Over to Mr. Cayce, Gladys may use my idea in this letter - if you want to show it to her, and she cares to keep it.

Mrs. Cayce would not remember me but I shall never forget her sweet simplicity of manner, her sincerity and her modesty. I’ve always thought she is a DARLING.

As I am writing Marian Wolfe this week anyway, I will tell her of Mrs. Cayce’s condition. She and I worked together with Martin Luther in his “Reformation”. She came direct to me at the Congress and asked, “When did you and I know each other?” Margaret Hall through automatic writing, told us and we felt it to be true.

Kathryn, I do appreciate your letters so very much; please continue them for surely we have known each other before.

R3. 3/8/46 (Friday) [3356]‘s letter to Kathryn Patterson:

My dear Kathrine:-

Or should I have spelled it with a C? Your letter is out visiting so I can’t look it up.

Yes, I mean “visiting”. The dream you wrote about is so very interesting that I’ve shared it with many friends, even to having it read at our Prayer Group last Tuesday. I then sent it to Mrs. [5049] who is not at all well, and later it is going to … for Mrs. [3357] to read. She was with me at the Beach in 1943, so you may remember her singing. Mr. Cayce always called on her to lead the hymn.

I do not believe that prophetical dreams stopped with the Old Testament, but we are inclined to treat them too lightly these days. This one has a special lesson for all of us. Thank you so much, for sending it, and some of us will profit by your thoughtfulness.

I could wish that IRITIS were my trouble for there is so much on this disease of the eye. However, mine is CHOROIDITIS, and evidently the specialists have never found any cure. It is now much worse because of cataracts which cannot be removed because of this disease. The choroid is connected very closely with the Retina, and an operation is too big a chance to take as long as I have any vision at all. I do not even read my Mail as focusing on any one point causes pain. If you find anything in the files on this condition, I would appreciate your sending it. If I could read, I’d gladly make copies for the files. Friends are wonderful to come in and read to me, and with the radio I keep up with current events. Having to give up Astrology is my greatest cross, for I dare not look up the position of the planets.

Dear Hugh Lynn Cayce:-

During the Congress of 1943 I was one of the many whom you met. It was my first introduction to the Association and never have I enjoyed a week more. The entire Office was permeated with your father’s sweetness, humility and simplicity.

In 1944 I went back to the Congress. When I entered the office it was as if I were plunged into icy water - the vibration was completely changed and Mr. Cayce was merely the man who earned the money for this successful organization which was run by Harmon Bro and his mother. The entire office force had succumbed to their charm.

Mr. Cayce’s high and pure vibration had so much difficulty adjusting itself to this material condition that his vitality and resistance gradually lessened. That article exploiting him in CORONET was, as you know, the beginning.

A friend has just written me that you have asked Miss Wynne to return to the Prayer Group work. This move of yours has given me the courage to write you for evidently the true state of affairs is dawning upon your mind. I felt that if you knew an out-sider has seen the influence of that one family it may help you accept what your Inner Voice tells you.

Please believe me, Hugh Lynn, this letter is written under prayer and meditation. It is not meant as criticism of anybody but the Hospital failed because of the wrong influence, also the oil well. I think the Readings insisted that the purpose of those connected with the work must be UNSELFISH.

Dear Miss [3356]:

Thank you for your letter of August 27th. It helps me to realize that some of the members of our Association appreciate the difficulties which I faced upon returning from overseas. The past seven months have not been easy in many ways. There were a great many knots to be untangled and human relations get so entangled over work of this kind that they are not straightened out quickly. I do feel that we have made progress and I know you believe me when I say I am sincerely desirous in keeping the spirit of this work alive. My father’s unselfish service and humility must continue to flow through everything we do.

Yes, Miss Wynne is planning to go back into the study group work on a full time basis after the first of January. She is at present involved in a teaching contract. We are looking forward to a real development of the study group program under her direction.

I hope that you will have an opportunity to visit us again soon and that you will find here the warm, friendly atmosphere which has always characterized this house.
