This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3357], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records of that entity now known as [3357].

3. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them, these we choose with the desire to be a helpful force for this entity. Little or nothing we find to condemn. Much we find to emulate in the experience, and to insist that the entity follow closely in those patterns and ways that have been set before the entity.

4. We find that the astrological aspects mean little to the entity, yet they each have their place, which - as indicated - is relative. No urge exceeds the will of the individual entity, that gift from and of the Creative Forces that separates man, even the Son of man, from the rest of creation. Thus it is made to be ever as one with the Father, knowing itself to be itself and yet one with the Father, never losing its identity. For, to lose its identity is death indeed, - death indeed - separation from the Creative Force. The soul may never be lost, for it returns to the One Force, but knows not itself to be itself any more.

5. The experiences of the entity in the earth are a part of the astrological aspects. Jupiter stands as the greater. Hence all things that have to do with making things better, not merely for a revolution but pertaining to the attempts to bring helpful forces to bring reconstruction, to help make another start for those who have lost hold on themselves, pertaining to the use of the good out of old things that may be useful in the experience of another at another time. These are the innate manifestations from and through the journey or consciousness of the entity, now called [3357] in the interims. For, the entity has oft appeared in the Jupiterian consciousness. Hence in body, in mind, in voice, the entity is BIG, strong, powerful; lending courage and aid to those that are weak, whether in body or in mental or material things. Others naturally turn to the entity for succor and aid. So the entity might excel in any type of work where there is a reclaiming, where there are to be helpful forces in any educational work; such as the Red Cross in its deeper meaning (not its superfluous) and such means much. The entity may use and handle such organizations as few may. Naturally, from the Jupiterian as well as the Mercurian aspects, the entity is a natural organizer, a natural leader. These are parts of the entity’s experience. A good song leader, a good music teacher. Anything that attunes to the infinite, through becoming better and better, better and better, is the channel or thing through which this entity may contribute. So be not weary in well doing. While others may not apparently appreciate the efforts, man looketh on the outward appearance, God looketh on the heart. And as He has given, no one even offering a cup of water in His name shall lose his reward. May lose it with man, yes - but the Maker never forgets.

6. Oh that every individual as the self could ever be able to look self in the mirror and behold what manner of man stands behind thee; in the shadows of thy past!

7. As to the appearances in the earth, these for this entity have not been many or numerous. Thus the entity finds in itself a staidness. There are periods of trouble, to be sure, for offenses indeed must come. For, whom the Lord loveth He purgeth, but He trusteth everyone, He loveth everyone, He withholdeth no good thing from those who love and trust Him. So, keep that faith which has prompted thee.

8. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity when there were those turmoils from the misinterpreting of activities of the early settlers, when there were those flooding to the western land for gold.

9. The entity was weak in body and yet was left alone by some whom the entity had the right to trust. In the experience the entity learned patience. For the entity found in strangers the help needed to bring a body, a mind, a purpose BIG in that experience. The name then was Callie Schuder.

10. Before that, in the land when the Master walked in the earth, the entity was among the sisters of Peter’s wife, yea, one who received from the Master the care of her sister when Peter’s wife’s mother was healed.

11. The entity gained that ability, which is exhibited in the present, of minding not high things but condescending to things of low estate, knowing that such may also find glory in praise of the divine within.

12. Thus the entity is one who may contribute to any character of welfare work, to any organized effort and helpfulness in body, in mind, in spirit.

13. The entity would make a good overseer for a hospital. The entity would make a wonderful supervisor for a girl’s school, yes but in the broader sense. All types and characters may the entity aid, as through those days when it ministered not only to the weaknesses, but to the strengths even of those that one day gathered at the feet of the Master.

14. And in the early periods when there were those activities in Capernaum as well as in Bethsaida, the entity - as Salamar - made the greater contribution to the helpfulness of those organized groups through that period.

15. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, being among those that worked hand in hand with the Priest when there were those classifyings from the Temple of Sacrifice to the Temple Beautiful.

16. The entity sat in what might be called judgment upon the color, the music of the individuals as they became active or passive in carrying on the works of that period.

17. The name then was Ten-Lan-Den.

18. As to the abilities of the entity in the present: Who would tell the rose to be beautiful? Who would tell the violet to give off its fragrance? These are part of thy consciousness, attained in the very thought and the arms of God Himself. So, as the entity has applied and may apply itself in the present, do not grow weary in well doing.

20. (Q) What is God’s plan for me in assisting the furtherance of His kingdom here on this planet, so that I may accomplish the greatest good with whatever talents I may possess? (A) Brighten the corner where thou art from day to day. Let not a day go by without speaking to someone with the smile of the face and eye reminding them that somebody cares, and it is Jesus!

21. (Q) If I am to continue employment in the commercial field, please advise definite field for which I am best fitted and would be most successful? (A) As indicated, in special service in reclaiming, rebuilding, re-helping in every field.

22. (Q) Advise best method of approach, whom to contact, how, when and where. (A) Through regular channels may this come. For, the entity should be the head of any group, state or any sectional organized work.

23. (Q) My present income is definitely inadequate. Please advise. (A) Write, then, when thou hast the periods. And these will contribute not only to the finances but to others in applying themselves. For in helping others, ye will help yourself.

B1. 6/27/43 [3357]‘s letter to Edgar Cayce:

“To you and your good household, as well as the outstanding group of co-workers with whom I was privileged to spend 4 days and 2 evenings, I want to say a most profound and fervent ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart’.

“The instructions, discussions and personal experiences which I was privileged to share were ‘mountain top’ experiences and moments for me. They brought to a focal point so many of the teachings, experiences and conjectures which have, during many years guided me and finally ‘landed’ me at the Congress. My radical selection of a vacation period was made before I even knew there WAS a Congress. When I read the brochure sent from your office I knew the reason for the selection. Life’s pattern can be a beautiful one, after we learn to release the pressure of our physical thinking and fit into God’s Pattern.

“Mr. Cayce, the prayers and blessings of the thousands whom you have helped will continue to enfold you in love and God’s blessing, which you so richly deserve. You have cleansed the channel, and only good can follow. Thank you for your friendship.

“Since returning to … I have read with breathless interest THERE IS A RIVER, and you may be assured it contained multiple interest through knowing so many of the characters mentioned. The loving understanding, patience and co-operation of dear Mrs. Cayce, of ‘Hugh Lynn’ and of dear thrifty ‘Gladys’, (in building the brick walk) of your dear optimistic David Kahn and your own final renouncement of the hospital brought many tears of appreciation and mental thanksgiving for such selflessness and at-one-ment with our Heavenly Father. It was beautifully written, wasn’t it? If the readings indicate, at any time, any assistance I may render, please have no hesitancy in advising me.

“Miss [3356] and I were so happy to meet Commander [Harold G.] Allen on the boat coming up from Norfolk. He was so happy to have the latest reports of the happenings which he had missed on Sunday. Of course, as the Sunday reading advised, world history WAS made, and right in our own Washington.

“I just talked with [3351] on the telephone, and was so happy to have the news regarding Dr. Stiles and the Kahns’ elder son. Somehow, that letter from Dr. Stiles, coupled with his appearance on Sunday, ‘rang a bell’ with me. I shall be so interested, when my life reading comes through, to find out the reason for it. I have a clear perfect picture of his complete recovery. And such a great deal of good he will yet be able to accomplish for others. Bless his heart - recovery will be so much speedier when his ‘hands are busy’. Please say ‘hell-o’ for me and my best wishes and prayers.

“When it is convenient, I would be glad to have a list of any typed material for general distribution which has been developed either from readings or from the Tuesday prayer groups. That is, if it is consistent with your usual procedure. I am studying A SEARCH FOR GOD and it is certainly a thing of wondrous magnitude. B2. 7/2/43 Edgar Cayce’s letter to [3357]:

“Am sure can never finish thanking GOD for sending you to us this year at our meeting time. Then to know you felt in some way lifted up also makes it all the more glorious - we can truly say ‘where two or three are gathered together in MY name there, am I in the midst of them.’

“Am glad you liked THERE IS A RIVER. Am sure, having met several of the characters in the book, you can easily know deep within yourself the sincerity or foibles of the persons spoken of there, and it may have a fuller meaning for you.

“Note from Miss [3356] - she is such a lovely soul. Do hope to be the means of a help there. Miss [3351] certainly saved the day for me, since she left a Professor [Era David Wollermann] from the University of Cincinnati has come in for few days. He too, has helped as she did - to each it seems to have done something - knowing the seeking minds of those who write me, possibly HIS way of letting them know. May it all be good, they gather here, is my Prayer ever.

“Think Dr. Stiles is all set. Just had this wire from him, He is back in N.Y. and will be at Dr. Reilly’s farm: ‘Everything worked out according to schedule. Feeling fine and send love to Mrs. Cayce and Mrs. Kahn. God Bless you, Edgar Cayce, and Dave Kahn - Henry W. Stiles.’

“Only pray we may be the means of a service there, and all in HIS name.

“Will try and send material from time to time. Will send a list and you let me know what you wish. Write us something for the Bulletin if after seeing one or two you feel you can conscientiously do so. Thanks again, and all praise to God for letting us know you…”

B3. 7/30/43 [3357]‘s letter to Edgar Cayce:

“Your good letter certainly rated an answer long ago. Please forgive me!? The heat, which you must have encountered too, plus a frantic work schedule and low resistance physically has been the reason. (not an excuse - although I feel terribly remiss).

“The GLOW and UPLIFTMENT which were mine to share at your June Conference have stayed with me through all these days. Surely it was a blessed period. God is surely blessing you and your work. You and your entire group are included in my daily thanks and supplications. THE PLAN becomes so vivid when we ‘let go - and let God’.

“I have been studying A SEARCH FOR GOD and am so grateful that it has come into my hands NOW. It is so sincere and meaty - every lesson and so helpful. It blesses all who study with an open mind…

“I realize that the Bible Class Minutes covering the entire period of study up to your present reading can not be sent for the small amount allowed, but if you will advise amount necessary to bring it up to date, I will be glad to remit it.

“Thank you again for your assistance and friendship. A ‘hand up’ when one is at ‘low ebb’ certainly works miracles.

B4. 9/1/43 Edgar Cayce’s letter to [3357]:

“I have yours of the 30th. I do not know how in the world you didn’t get a reply to your letter some time ago. I know it was received and I answered it myself, personally. I think we cashed your check, but I am sending you as much of the material as we have ready. The Congress booklet has just been printed. This, I believe in itself will be worth a great deal. I will be in New York for a talk at the Psychology Club on the night of Nov. 9. You, doubtless will be notified about this. Have you seen the recent article in Coronet? This has so flooded us with requests and piled up so many letters that I do not know whether I or my secretary knows whether we are coming or going.

“I had a letter from Miss [3356]. Please remember me to her when you see her. I will ask Mrs. Verhoven about the Bible Class minutes and she will send those within the next few days, as well as the Congress booklet.

“We are all keeping so busy that we wonder if we are not smearing over some of the work. We often think of you and hope that some of these days to have you back with us. We certainly appreciated your coming and hope we will have you back again. Regretting the delay, I am…”

B5. 11/3/43 [3357]‘s letter to Edgar Cayce:

“Thank you so much for the information regarding your visit here under the sponsorship of the New York Psychology Club. Of course I have told many of my friends about it, and needless to say they have all read the BOOK. Miss [3356] is coming down from … with a group of her friends who are also interested, and together with all the people who will come whom we have met and have NOT counted on seeing, it will be a sure-enough ‘old-home-week’. We will all be so pleased to see you again. Of course I mean YOU ALL.

“My typing is just NOT TYPING, but I am sure you will understand what I am trying to say.

“As I remember it, the date for my first reading is the 13th of this month. I don’t know whether it is A.M. or P.M. When I was there in June I made up a list of questions which Mr. Kahn was intending to check and leave for you. In the event he has either mislaid them or they may have miscarried in some way, I am enclosing another set which I believe covers about the same subject matter. If they are too crudely put, or need to be revised, please feel free to do so.

“Miss [3356] is remaining with me for the 13th, and we are hoping Miss Gladys will be able to send the readings out to us by special delivery to my address, perhaps that night, so we will be able to have them on Sunday. This may seem a greedy thing to ask, but I am waiting to get this information before making a serious decision on the following Monday, which I am holding off until I have the right information. I would like two (2) carbon copies of my readings also. Please advise the additional cost.
