This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3361], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [2946].

1. EC: Yes, we have those records here of that entity now known as [3361].

2. In giving the interpretations of the records as we find them here, much of a very changeable environ is to be considered. But these we choose from the records here with the desire and purpose that this information may be made a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfill the purposes for which it entered this present sojourn.

3. There is much that appears in the personality of the individual entity that may be at times very easily misunderstood or misinterpreted, and we shall see how and why these have been the experience through the journeys in the earth. While the interims of sojourn have their influence upon the entity, the application of self in the earth has a much deeper and a more latent influence upon the activities of the entity itself.

4. Hence at times individuals call the entity not exactly lazy but tending not to be as active as the conditions for others would seem to warrant for the entity to be. The reasons for this, too, will be seen and indicated.

5. We find urges in Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, as a part of the consciousness of the entity. Thus in Jupiter we find the benevolent influences and those attentions that the entity may give toward contributing much to welfare activities, where many varied groups might be influenced by same; as well as that which has to do with the edifying of the mental forces of groups or masses. Yet there is the tendency for the entity to work towards groups, yet realizing that individuality is that which gives the fuller expression to whatever might be attempted in the activities of the entity in the present, in its associations and relationships to others.

6. In Venus we find the beautiful, the ability of the entity always, under all circumstances, to appear to be well dressed, and the conventionalities of relationships are very closely adhered to in most of the entity’s activities.

7. Saturn brings the changes, as well as the assurances in self. Thus, when we find the entity interested in activities of this or that group, or organized efforts in other spheres than the entity’s own activity, there is the quick passing of judgment by the entity on the validity of any such cooperative activity. But unless there becomes a personal note of interest to the entity itself, it passes very easily without opportunities being taken by the entity to make some of the corrections in the application of the mental and spiritual forces in themselves.

8. As to the activities of the entity in the earth, while these have been many, not all will be given at this time only those needed for the completion of this present cycle of the entity and the relationships it has borne and does bear to some forms of activity that have been indicated as a part of the entity’s consciousness in the present; especially those having to do with children or as related to kindred souls. For, this the entity has begun to experience, and may find it much easier here with these, with sufficient periods for contemplation or activity respecting same.

9. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, when there were the settlings in new lands. These brought material hardships and the entity vowed to itself that if it ever had the chance to rest, it would. And it is! And yet is not satisfied with those environs. For there is the call deep within self for service. This the entity, then, would apply. To be sure, there must be faith irrespective of works, but faith without works is dead, or it bears little relationship. For, activity of spirit in the earth is not a latent but a very positive fact, as was indicated in the life of the Master in the earth. For each day, each period was filled with activities until it could be written of Him “I suppose that all the books in the world would not hold all the doings or sayings of this man.”

10. These, then, should be the activities in the present. Be up and doing. For, one seldom wears out, but often rusts out.

11. The name then was Clara Dixon. The entity gained, the entity lost, the entity gained; gaining in its service for others, losing in the mental self through willful negligence or quietude.

12. These will bring to the entity opportunities for anything that has to do with children, games, books, preparations for entertainments. The entity thinks, and yet seldom puts these into actual or practical applications; yet others may take the same ideas and materially create most any form of an organization or corporation in material things. It is well not to let material be first, but use the ideas through the activities of others that ye may inspire to become active in those purposes set forth by the entity.

13. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land during those days when the Master walked in the earth.

14. The entity was among the holy women that prepared for the Master in many periods where entertainments took place in people’s homes - as in the home in Cana, where there was the beginning of the miracles indicated in some interpretations of the experiences of the man Jesus in the earth, when water saw its Master, blushed and became wine even by activity! Remember, only as it was poured out would it become wine. Had it remained still, no wine would have filled those conditions where embarrassment was being brought even to the friend of the entity in that experience. For this was one of the brethren of James and John, and the entity was acquainted with the bride at that period.

15. With this activity there came true faith, but at times static. For there came the dependence upon the spirit without the use of the spirit by self at times. Yet the entity in the name Matada, brought much help to those activities of the early church in the various centers; not only the church in Jerusalem but also in other places where there was the setting up of individual activities.

16. Hence the entity draws upon organizations, and yet is there complete organization in self? This is not as a condemning, nor fault-finding, but questioning as to why there is not the complete assurance of the work the entity should do.

17. As the trust is in Him, as it was then, keep active - if there would be the growth day by day. As has oft been given, be not only good but good for something! Daily active, daily making assurance, daily bringing to bear a message - by word, by act, by thought, also by prayer for others.

18. Before that the entity was again in the Holy Land, among the maids or helpers to Bath-sheba, the queen of the king David. The entity was active in those periods when there were the questionings and the admonitions delivered to the king by Nathan. These made a great impression upon this entity then, Abjada, making for a keeping closer not only to the tenets but to the spirit of the law through those activities. And as there grew to be those changes wrought by the educating of those that were to rise in power, the entity aided there.

19. Thus children, children’s activities, games, directions, cards, any form of books that may aid children in arousing to an active mind that needed, may be a part of the life experience and the work of the entity in the present.

20. The entity gained throughout, for it caught the vision and it applied the message in those activities with the training of Solomon through those periods of the early childhood.

21. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those activities of the Atlanteans in bringing about the coordination of the services of many in the various groups.

22. The entity was a helper, a teacher, yea an instructor to the young, especially of the Atlanteans. For, the entity was an Atlantean, yet spent the greater portion of its sojourn and service in the Egyptian land, in coordinating that activity for the home building that later became a part of the entity’s experience.

23. The name then was She-Sut-Pentdth.

24. As to the abilities of the entity, that to which it may attain, and how:

25. Keep the faith, but find self in its daily activities in the service of the Lord. For they who train, who direct the young to the service of the Master, shall indeed find in self, harmony, peace. Music ever is a part of the entity’s harmony, but as from afar off. These activities, too, should be a part of the entity’s unfoldment - in and through same - for children.

26. Study then to show thyself approved unto God, a workman not ashamed, rightly dividing the words of truth and keeping self unspotted from condemnation.

R1. 12/14/43 She wrote: “Thank you for your Christmas card with the beautiful star. I’ve been going to write to you ever since the rdg. came. Of course I was very much disappointed at first, but after a while I began to realize that all these weeks and months I had been waiting for something to come to me, instead of going out and finding something to do. So many things have happened to me that I have felt the thing for me to do was just to wait. The reason I felt this must be right for me is because it is the very hardest thing in the world for me to do - just to wait. It is a wonderful patience developer, and I certainly need that.

“Love to each and every one of you from [3361].”

R2. 12/21/43 EC wrote: “I believe if you read your rdg. over carefully again you will find that you are not only given some things to do but some very definite things. These have to respond to something within yourself. That is the only and whole basis of the teaching of the Christian religion, ‘My spirit beareth witness with your spirit.’

“We are still quite busy, and hope to get caught up before Christmas, with our letters at least.”

R3. 4/12/44 She wrote: “There is a real glow that flows through me whenever I even think of the days I spent in Virginia Beach.”

R4. 10/8/47 She wrote HLC: “I admired and respected your father very much indeed.”

R6. 1/22/55 She sent a contribution to A.R.E. saying: “Edgar Cayce has for years been a guiding light to me. I always see him as he stood in the doorway one night during the blackouts and talked to us about the Christ, in the midst of the blackout. He gave me a deep sense of the reality of the things of the Spirit, as he spoke of the Akashic records, or FROM them when he was in trance.”

R7. 7/7/55 She again sent a generous contribution “by way of loving memory of Edgar Cayce. He made me definitely aware of the marvelous Akashic Records. I can still hear that voice say, ‘Yes, we have this entity’, and for me there has been no more doubt, so I send him loving gratitude. Over and over in my meditations come the following words, ‘Before Abraham was, I AM - before a Brahman was, I AM.’”

R8. 11/27/55 Another contribution came with a note: “How can I ever thank dear Edgar Cayce enough! And how wonderfully Hugh Lynn and all of you are carrying on his great work. I can still hear that voice, that same QUIET, SURE voice, when he gave his readings. There has never been a moment’s doubt in my mind since that time.”

R9. 7/28/59 She sent another contribution, saying, ‘This is as a form of gratitude to Edgar Cayce because he helped to make the Christ so very real to me, also as a token of appreciation to Hugh Lynn because of his fine work in carrying on with the readings. Blessings on each of you as you carry on the Master’s work.”

R10. 8/28/60 She wrote: “Dear A.R.E. Friends: Your Bulletin is so full of ‘good news’ that I must write to you about it. I really send my gratitude to Mr. Cayce every day in morning meditations, for I am sure he opened the ‘spiritual psychic world’ to me - Bless him! It is good to know how well you are carrying on his teachings. The article by Shane Miller is most interesting - and because I have received material along that line may I send it along to you. [See Par. R11 below, HLC’s letter thanking her.]

“Of course my greatest interest is in the book by Lou Austin. We are building up a library along that line in The Spiritual Frontiers Fellowship. May I have two copies of ‘You Are Greater Than you Know’? And am I behind in my dues? I want very much to keep in touch with you. R11. 9/3/60 Hugh Lynn Cayce’s letter to Mrs. [3361]:

Dear Mrs. [3361]

We have your letter of August 28. We appreciate your order for two copies of YOU ARE GREATER THAN YOU KNOW. They are being shipped to you. You will be interested to know that I saw and talked with Lou Austin just a few days ago. He has a lovely place in Capon Springs, West Virginia, just out of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I was very much impressed with him at this, our first meeting. He has encouraged Camp Farthest Out and other activities of this kind at Capon Springs. My wife and I are looking forward to visiting with him for a few days after we get our oldest boy off to college the middle of this month. Whenever you come East, I think you would enjoy stopping at Capon Springs and getting to know Lou Austin.

Thank you for your comments regarding our Association’s activities. I do wish you would pay us a visit whenever you come east. I think you would be delighted with the progress we have made in preserving and making the readings available. There seems to be a growing interest in using them in many different ways.
