This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of December, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [3394], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading 4:15 to 4:25 P.M. Eastern War Time. …, Nebraska.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here - he does better for others than for himself!

3. As we find there are disturbing conditions with this body. These are rather a complication of disturbances. These have to do with the abnormal blood pressure and heart disturbance, the digestive areas, and the activity in the pyloric portion of the stomach itself, and the general effect produced by this complication.

4. These produce variations in the activity of the blood supply, and at times there is quite a variation in the upper and lower portions of the body as to circulation.

5. These also cause the periods when the body is unable, as it were, to keep a normal balance; wants to fall asleep easily, and at other periods sleep fails to come.

6. The conditions in the stomach are lacerations not ulcerations.

7. And the condition produced in the heart is not too much from the altitude as from the condition existing in the colon.

8. We would have a sufficient number of colonic irrigations, scientifically and gently given, to purify the colon. Never use a colonic without using intestinal antiseptics. Use a teaspoonful of Usoline and a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline to the gallon of rinse water. Be mindful that there is not too much dilation as to cause pressures upon the heart circulation.

9. Then use a good osteopathic adjustment, relaxing the secondary cardiac centers, or the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th dorsal, 3rd cervical and 1st and 2nd cervical.

10. Also we would use the Radio-Active Appliance each evening before retiring. Use this as the period for meditation and prayer. This will equalize the circulation and will remove these disturbances.

11. As to the diet, the body is a very good dietician, if it will follow its own advice.

12. The activities should should be kept near normal. Do have a walk in the open early or mornings regularly.

13. Occasionally take internally half a teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth and nine drops of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin in a glass of water. This will heal the distresses in the pyloric end of stomach, if there is not too much grease or astringent taken in the diet.

14. Whenever the Bismuth is taken, it should be followed within the next day or two by a colonic irrigation. Do these.

15. Ready for questions.

16. (Q) Would a lower altitude help the heart condition? (A) As indicated, this is not so much the trouble of altitude as a colon disturbance that contributes to the disturbance in the pylorus.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

Have just finished reading Thomas Sugrue’s “There is a River”, and have been greatly fascinated by your wonderful work in Diagnosing and Treating Patients. Being an Osteopathic Physician, I could more readily appreciate the value of your work to humanity.

I am interested in a reading for myself and would like to know what you would charge to answer the following questions for me. 1st. What can I do for my lower back to relieve the pain and keep it in place? 2nd. Would it be better for my health to move to a higher or a lower altitude and what state would be best for me to practice in? 3rd. Would I be better off to change locations just as soon as arrangements can be made or to wait a shorter time?

I think the Chapter on “Philosophy” in the book is the best I have ever read and I believe is equal to a year’s work in Philosophy in College.

I will greatly appreciate hearing from you and am deeply grateful for what I have learned of your work.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

Thanks for your letter of June 11th. As I understand your letter there is no charge for Drs.’ for the Physical reading but twenty dollars for the Life Readings. I am enclosing check for forty dollars for memberships and Life readings for my wife, Dr. [3393] and myself. Also enclose signed applications for us both. We are very anxious to get an appointment and be placed on your waiting list.

Am particularly anxious to know what climate or state would be best for me to move to practice in for health reasons.

We trust we may be greatly helped so we may in turn be the means of giving greater service to others in our work.

Am also enclosing a dollar bill for a copy of “A Search For God”.

In regard to our physical readings, which are set for Dec. 7th, Mrs. [3393] and I will both be in …, Nebraska on that day.

What must I do to regain my health and strength? Do I have ulcer of the stomach, if so what can be done about it? What about heart, would a lower altitude be necessary?

How can I improve my work in treating patients in order to save my strength? Is there any vocation that wold be better for me? Is this a good time to change locations? Which is the best location for me, …, Ore., …, Idaho or Sacramento, Cal. or any other suggestions? Is it a good idea to try and secure a California license to practice Osteopathy? Will I be able to secure an Oregon License? What unused talents or special abilities could I develop and use?
