GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. Here we find conditions physically very serious. The course here is run. Prayer and meditation by those interested, and those that have the interest of the entity close at heart, may add that necessary for this entity to meet those problems within the mind of the entity.
-
Gentle massage - not that to cause greater stress - and the keeping of eliminations, preferably with enemas (though some will object), will make it easier for the body.
-
Preferably using an equal combination of Olive Oil and Peanut Oil for the massaging, but these are not great stimulations to the body.
-
Stay off any further congestion, for the inability for the body to use its limbs will gradually increase.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this reading.

R2. 12/10/76 Mr. [3396]‘s daughter visited A.R.E. and requested copy of this rdg. He died in 1944. She is sure prayer helped him to live long after doctors gave him up. He lived 8 yrs. after brain tumor surgery, tho doctors said he’d only live 2 yrs. She, the daughter, is an A.R.E. member, active in A.R.E. Study Group work.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce,
I am sure it is quite common for you to receive letters from people of whom you have never heard.
My husband is critically ill and I wrote to a very saintly friend in California who in turn wrote to friends for prayer in his behalf. So I have just received a letter from a friend, Mrs. [5112], …, Ills., who served on the Mission field in the Belgian Congo with us. She told me about you and of your great help to many, many people.
My husband suffered an accident while in Mission Service in the Congo. He later developed a brain tumor. We came back to America and he was operated on for brain tumor, but the operation was not a surgical success. He has had four different series of deep X-ray therapy treatment in the last four years. Suddenly the tumor has began to grow and X-ray therapy is not proving useful. As the tumor grows he is gradually losing the use of his right side and speech. I am inclosing a letter from his doctor from whom he took treatment at the Veterans Hospital in Atlanta - so that you might know how serious his condition is.
I don’t think he could come to Virginia Beach for a reading - and because he needs me so, and because of the seriousness of his condition I feel that I should not leave him. He suffers agony untold at times because of headaches caused by the growing tumor.
Mrs. [5112], our friend, to whom I referred at the beginning offers to give us her date of December 10” that she has with you. I hesitate to wait that long since the tumor seems to be growing rapidly and taking its toll of his right side and speech. Sometimes he can hardly walk although he is still up and around.
I am praying that if it is God’s will that somehow there may be an opening in which you can help us. I feel that we have done all that the doctors have advised. They have now given up and say it is only a matter of time. If there is anything that can be done while there is still life I hope it can be done - for my husband’s only desire is to live and return to the mission field to help in the great task of taking God’s word to the people who live in darkness out there. If your reading should indicate that all has been done that human hands can do I shall feel resigned that it is God’s will.
My husband’s people call him [3396] - but for the last 20 years or more he has been known as [3396] - using only his initials for he isn’t fond of the name [3396].
I hope that I have not gone into too much detail. I only wanted you to know the great urgency of the case. I hope I can hear from you soon.
Sincerely yours (Mrs. […])

Veterans Hospital Atlanta, Georgia. September 28, 1943

Dear Madam:
After rather complete studies in your husband’s case we have come to the conclusion that there is probably some further extension of his tumor mass. We have started him on his X-ray treatments but there does not seem to be any improvement. He has great difficulty in making himself understood and increased weakness has been noted of the right arm and leg.
He is up and about the ward. There is a possibility, however, that he may develop some hemorrhage in this tumor area and for that reason we believe that he should be placed on the seriously ill list, although at the present time he is not very ill. We are writing you so that you will be aware of his condition and the difficulties of treatment in this case.
We do not believe that operative procedure would be of any benefit.
Very Truly Yours,
ROY H. BRYANT Chief Medical Officer. [copy made by Mrs. […]]
B2. 11/25/43 Letter from wife: “On October first they felt his time was running out…at the Veterans Hospital in Atlanta… the weakness is growing into his right leg and when his leg becomes as useless as his right arm he will be bedfast - unless the predicted hemorrhage comes and takes its toll of life first… He is not able to converse with people except to affirm, point and produce the right word now and then… no physician whom we can call a family doctor…when needed medical attention we have rushed him to a Veterans’ Hospital.”
