GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, quite serious are the present existent conditions with this body. These are a complication of disorders. These are the effect of injuries to the coccyx end of the spine and their related activity to the glandular forces in the body. At the beginning of the Periods for this body they bring about convulsions, those conditions making for the incoordination between the sympathetic and the central or cerebrospinal nervous system.
-
Thus the violent effect that certain characters of noises have upon the body, and the conditions that come about in types of movements for the body. All of these react so violently. These have gradually produced two very definite lesions, besides the conditions existent in the coccyx.
-
And the coccyx will necessarily have to be raised. Don’t take it off but raise and straighten it - if there will be the beginnings of help that may be of any permanent nature for this body.
-
These lesions have been formed in the lacteal duct and in the areas from the 2nd cervical to the base of the brain. These come and go, or produce - because of the convulsive reaction in the lacteal duct, from the pressures in the lower portion of the coccyx area - enlargement or engorgement, even causing unconsciousness.
-
Begin by slow treatments by any osteopathic gynecologist that will not only give corrections to the coccyx areas but the proper relationship to the organs of the pelvis as related to the activity of the glandular system, the assimilating system, and mental reactions to suggestions.
-
In making corrections, relax the body in the sacral and lumbar with wet heat applications, if these would be made without causing each time they are made the convulsions.
-
Do apply heat, preferably heavy pads of Glyco-Thymoline over the lacteal duct area. These are needed to break up the lesions there.
-
Also use Glyco-Thymoline Packs over the neck and the upper portion of the spine, as these corrections would be made.
-
Keep the body away from sweets or large quantities of starches. Use only the natural sweets occasionally, and not too much starches. Raw vegetables and plenty of sea foods, should be oft in the diet.
-
Do get the note vibrations in music to which the body will respond and continue to interest the body in same whenever treatments are given. And have plenty of such things about the body to use itself. It will aid in keeping the body, mind and soul purposefully in harmonious directions.
-
As to how much help will come depends upon how consistent and how persistent will be those in making the corrections.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are her mental facilities affected in any way? (A) With all of these pressures who wouldn’t be mentally unbalanced! No brain affections, no. Pressures are indicated that set the body almost distracted, yes.
-
(Q) Is there some way to stop the decaying of her teeth and what is the cause of this? (A) These are from lack of certain elements in the body. We will supply most of those by the character of treatments indicated.
For the decaying of the teeth themselves, use Ipana toothpaste and use Ipsab as a massage for the gums.
-
(Q) What type of musical instrument would you suggest? (A) You may have to go through the whole category, but get the vibration! They are all on the piano, of course.
-
(Q) Any other suggestions? (A) Do these things. Don’t pray about the body one way and act another way to somebody else’s neighbor-children.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 10/10/44 Sister’s letter: “When we received the Reading in January regarding my sister, [3401], we spent the next month and a half trying to find an osteopathic gynecologist but were unable to find same; however we did find a chiropractor GYNECOLOGIST. It seems the osteopaths are more prevalent on the Eastern Coast and chiropractors on the Western Coast.
“On April first, we started treatments with the chiropractor gynecologist whose name and address is: Dr. C. T. Herr, D.C., 8740 East 14th Street, Oakland, California.
“[3401] has been taken regularly, three times weekly up to the present time and shall continue on the same schedule as his methods of treatment seem to correspond to what the Reading prescribed. Also we’ve had a complete set of x-rays taken to enable the doctor to better understand her case from these photographs.
“The rest of the family and I, myself have noted that from the treatments given so far, that [3401] seems to have a much better mental outlook than she did at first. By that I mean, she seems to smile more about things that pleases her.
“However, other than that described above her condition seems to remain the same; that is, she seems still unable to move her limbs or speak and noises still bother her.
“Also wish to express my thanks in regard to the monthly bulletins we have been receiving each month - they are indeed treasures of gold in their enlightenment and knowledge. They are a great satisfaction for ones thoughts in that each word holds so much meaning; as I have found the second reading of them reveals so much more than the first.
“Hoping that if you have anything further to add, that we may hear from you again.”
Sincerely […]
R2. 10/23/44 GD’s Letter to [3401]‘s sister: “Thank you for the report on your sister, [3401]. The readings seem to insist that the manner of treatment given by the osteopath is quite different from that given by the chiropractor. If it is at all possible, we would suggest that you do all that you can to find an osteopath to help carry out the suggestions given. There should be definite improvement through correctly following the suggestions given.
“In consideration for his health, Mr. Cayce has been forced to take an extended rest. We do not expect him to return to the office or home for possibly six months.
“In order to meet our financial needs during this period and to establish a foundation for passing on the unlimited information in our files, we are making some changes in our membership and publications program. Kindly refer to the enclosed lists.
“Thanking you again, I am” Sincerely, Gladys Davis
Background
Background
B1. 9/17/43 Sister’s letter enclosing father’s signed application: “I most sincerely think my sister’s case is urgent, urgent because she is young and has a full life before her being only 15 years of age.
“She was on January 1, 1939 in a healthy state of being, up and walking around, but on January 2, 1939 she didn’t get up that morning, nor any other morning since that time till the present, she had a fever very much the same symptoms as a cold would react. Mother called a chiropractor in, but still the fever continued only in perhaps a lesser degree but all my sister would eat or drink was orange juice and kept calling for it till she went into a coma and lost all speech. At this point, approximately about 4 weeks from the date of her illness, my parents called in a physician (M.D.) who ordered her immediately to be prepared to enter the hospital and diagnosed the case as Sleepy Sickness (Encephalitis). Yes, the hospital did bring her back from death’s door, but it is only a living body, unable to move any of her limbs or to utter a word. But she isn’t completely paralyzed, she is able to chew her food properly when fed with a spoon, sits up with the aid of a back rest, and has complete control over her intestinal tract; and is able to move her head slightly to nod in a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ fashion when asked a question. None of her limbs seem to be smaller than the other as would be a polio victim and is not exactly a sleepy sickness (Encephalitis) victim either for she has her eyes open in the daytime and closes them to go to sleep at night. However, she is very allergic to noise of any kind (radio, music, dogs barking, etc.) and will immediately close her eyes until the noise is gone. She matured about the 2nd or 3rd year of her illness and is regular.
“As I have read quite extensively, her mental faculties are very good and intact but it’s the locomotive part of her brain that doesn’t seem to respond. Yes, we have had almost every kind of doctor, from brain specialist, medical to healers, thirty-one doctors in all even going to the State of Oregon which proved a very hard trip on her as she looked quite worn for several weeks afterwards.
“Why I consider her case so urgent is that after laying so long (thanks to massage treatments she has no bed sores) her spine has become very curved and is going all to one side (it’s convexed) and is getting worse and something should be done to relieve that condition as soon as possible.
“At present we haven’t any doctor as my parents are wondering who to go to next for they are only of modest income and my dad earns his salary by working in the shipyards, and has spared no expense to try and get my sisters health back for he is getting up in years and worries so and has had an operation on his eyes for cataracts.
“Mr. Cayce, I ask you and the Association once again, please, please make it at your earliest convenience, preferably this year for her birthday is on December 20th and it would be a heavenly gift if she could walk or talk on her birthday - my prayer and mother’s and dad’s answered.” Sincerely, […]
B2. 10/11/43 Letter from [3401]‘s sister to EC: “In reply to your letter of September 22nd, we will be very pleased to have a Reading in regards to my sister, [3401] on November 13, 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. (Pacific Time) as you stated in your letter.
“Here is a list of questions we would like to have asked at the time of the reading:
- What is the cause of her illness?
- What would be best recommended as a cure in her case?
- Why can’t she move any of her limbs?
- Why can’t she move her eyes although she opens them and closes them when she sleeps?
- Why can’t she speak?
- Why does noise affect her and make her close her eyes until the sound disappears, for instance music, automobiles, airplanes?
- Why is it when she rides in an automobile she goes in a coma?
- What is the cause of the curvature in her spine and what is the recommended treatment?
- Are her mental facilities affected in any way?
- Is there some way to stop the decaying of her teeth and what is the cause of this?
- What makes one leg shorter than the other when you measure both feet together?
- Is it indicated when will she come out of this illness? At what age or year?
“Thanking you once again for being so kind to give her an early appointment and hoping the Reading will help to enlighten her case, we are,” Very sincerely, […]
