This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of November, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3404], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading 4:10 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Fla.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - in a peculiar setting - on the spiral of time.

3. Yes, we have the body here, [3404].

4. As we find, there are many disturbances or abnormalcies that disturb the physical functioning of this body. Many of these are closely associated one with the other, yet apparently arise from different sources entirely.

5. If the applications were made to produce more beneficial effects to the ability of the lungs and the bronchi to oxidize the blood supply, most of the other disturbances would disappear.

6. The condition in the circulation, as indicated in the superficial portion of the body, the catarrhal conditions existing through portions of the alimentary canal. The tendencies for the prolapsus in the lower portion of the alimentary canal, the tendencies for the rectal disorders, all are a part of the general condition and yet appear to be produced by either the diet or the character of eliminations, or the combination of cold or congestion.

7. As we find, it would be well to use the short wave electrical forces, in that called radio wave; such as might be applied by Cold here in this vicinity.

8. Such a treatment would be followed by a massage with this combination of oils, to supply the superficial circulation - or by absorption through the lymph and the emunctory centers - to bring much better conditions for this body; adding the ingredients in the order named:

Nujol, as the base…6 ounces, Olive Oil…1 ounce, Peanut Oil…3 ounces, Oil of Pine Needles…1/2 ounce, Cedar Wood Oil…1/2 ounce, Lanolin (liquefied)…1/2 ounce.

These will at times tend to separate, but shake them together and pour a small quantity into a saucer - not on hand to go back into the bottle, but into a saucer. Dip the ends of the fingers in same and massage, not only along the edge of the spinal column but over the diaphragm area, between the breast bone and especially at the end of the breast bone or sternum, and across the hips and the abdomen, especially in the diaphragm area. Then massage the limbs also.

9. About twice each week we would take the short wave or radio wave electrical treatments, for at least fifteen minutes. Follow same immediately, first with a good hot shower and rubdown. Then, while the pores are still open, give this oil massage.

10. In the diet keep well balanced. Eat three vegetables above the ground to one that grows under the ground. No red meats at any time. Fish or fowl may be taken, but not any foods fried.

11. Keep away from sweets. Have little or no raw fruit, though stewed fruit would be very well for the body.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) Is sore throat aggravated by catarrhal trouble? (A) This is all a combination of the lung, the bronchi and especially the larynx condition. Yes, irritated by some catarrhal condition in the nasal passages. But if these massages and electrical treatments are followed we should eliminate same.

14. (Q) Digestive difficulties seem to irritate condition of hemorrhoids is there an ointment or salve? (A) Use all of these rubs with the oils as indicated, and especially across the lower portion of the sacral and in the end of the spine. Do not use oils or lotions, but if there is the continued itching or irritation, prepare this mixture to be injected:

Usoline…2 ounces, Glycerine (in which 2 drops of carbolic acid have been added)…1 ounce.

Shake this together thoroughly - thoroughly. Use an ear syringe. This quantity should be sufficient to use at least four times, and the condition should be healed before all of these are used.

15. (Q) Is there a condition of anemia? (A) The condition of anemia is rather the general blood condition. But the supply of oils and the changes that will be wrought by the electrical forces should correct these conditions.

Do that.

16. (Q) Is there a condition of arthritis? (A) This is neuritis, not arthritis; and the corrections in the manners indicated should change all of these.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

This is a petition for a physical reading. Two weeks ago I read the story of your life and it gave me hope again, feeling I could get along on the stimulus of it, and overshy to request the great service from you.

For six years I have not been well enough to work in the organized system, and earn a living. Work: College teacher of creative arts. From the medical profession I can get no relief, two doctors have diagnosed secondary anemia. Other doctors merely skeptical, find nothing. Manifestation of the trouble is centered chiefly in the digestive-intestinal tract. Hemorrhoids also present. Period of difficulty has covered many phases of ailments over a period of years. Age 45. Bronchial asthma which is not as bad now as it was twenty years ago.

All conditions and obligations will be most gratefully met. I have complete faith in your gift. My own life tries to move on the True path. And it is in my longing, since reading of your work, to contribute some effort towards the permanence and greater scope of this goal. May I state that in recent years, in my awareness, for some unknown reason I have been attracted towards the physical environment of Virginia Beach. I have been held by the fact that in your life readings you were apprised that the environment of large bodies of water was conductive to your work. This is always true for my work; I seem to gain something by painting water, and skies.

The beauty for this day is that your work bear even more fruit.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thank you for your kind letter. Also for the additional information sent under separate cover. Enclosed is my application and fee for approval, as an associate member of the Virginia Association. Whatever appointment is assigned to me for a physical reading, will be welcomed.

We have also, recently, your additional work: ‘A Search For God’. This work rises to human poetry. And the good word will be passed along. Accept our wish to contribute whatever we can, in the time to come.
