Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Tennessee.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes. Here we have conditions where there may be the blame physically upon the indiscretion of the father. In reality it is the combination of self meeting self, and still the physical indiscretion of the parent.

3. Here we have conditions, then, that are prenatal that are causing the seizures that are a part of the experience of this entity.

4. These can be relieved. It will almost require the training of the body mentally to rely upon the divine within.

5. Here we find the better association would be with a nurse or a constant companion, almost all the while - or in regular periods, at least; one such as a student of Unity or Christian Science.

6. You see, these groups have something on the church - that the church has left out ordinarily. They trust in the divinity of the Christ wholly set as a central theme of the mind.

7. This is needed in this particular entity individually, so that the personality and the mental self may take on not the extremes in either but the universality of the Christ-Consciousness in the individuality and personality of this entity.

8. Pathologically, there are lesions in the lacteal duct area and in the 1st, 2nd and a portion of the 3rd cervical. These need physical applications.

9. To be sure, this would be contrary to the teachings of either of these groups - yet if there would be help there must be the consideration of all phases.

10. Remember, the Christ in person used water, clay, spittle and other ingredients for application in physical conditions. These groups would do well to learn this, or those who act as healers at least.

11. In the applications for this body, then:

12. Use a fusion of Passion Flower; the vine, the leaf, the fruit - dried. To a gallon measure of this, in an enamel container, put a gallon and a half of water - preferably distilled water. Reduce by slow simmering. Do not put this in tin or aluminum but rather in an enamel container, with an enamel or glass cover. Reduce by slow boiling until there is only one-half gallon of the solution when strained off. Add to this one pint of grain alcohol, 85% to 95% proof.

13. Take a teaspoonful of this four times each day, until at least half the quantity has been taken.

14. Also for one hour each day, three days in succession each week, apply the Castor Oil Packs over the gall duct and the lacteal duct area, extending all the way to the caecum or appendix area, using an electric pad to retain the heat for one hour. When removing the Pack, each time sponge off the area with a weak soda water. Then massage thoroughly the whole area; not so as to bruise but as to break up the lesions through the area. For this massage we would use an equal combination of Pine Oil and Olive Oil.

15. Each week, the day after the three-day series of the Oil Packs, take internally two tablespoonsful of Olive Oil - and when this has acted it would be followed by a high enema or a colonic irrigation.

16. If the Castor Oil Packs are taken the first three days in the week, then during the latter portion of the week have an osteopathic treatment to make corrections in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th cervicals.

17. Do these.

18. And if we pray, and live like we pray, we will heal this body.

R1. 1/29/44 Father’s letter to EC: “We have tried to follow fully your advice of reading Jan. 3rd. and want you to know what we have done.

“We immediately started the oil packs as instructed, followed the next day by olive oil internally and enema, these were on Monday, Tues, and Wed. then Friday we take [3430] to an osteopath, who has followed the instructions.

“We had quite a bit of trouble in obtaining the Passion Flower and as it had to be ordered from New York did not get started on it until last Friday.

“Of course we have prayed, and to be right honest we have prayed more than ever before. Maybe we have been weak, but we are trying more than ever in our life to live like God would have us.

“The writer has been elected an elder in the … Church, since receiving your letter. This office has been refused twice by him on previous occasions, but this time it seemed that it was the will of God and with HIS help could be a good to others as well as to receive His directive. This all seems to work together.

“The osteopath we are taking [3430] to is Dr. C. L. Baker, …, Tenn, we gave him the book, THERE IS A RIVER. He has almost completed reading it, will you please note his address and if you think best will you contact him.

“The school [3430] has been attending is a Christian place, the teachers and faculty, Stewart School Frankfort, Ky. It seems he has fewer spells by far there than here at home. We have attributed this to quiet and routine surroundings there. Here at home there is not anyone excepting his mother and father to be with him. And he gets tired of the everyday routine although we try to do everything to make him happy.

“[3430]‘s mother is a real christian. Taught in Sunday School most of her life, prays and reads her Bible everyday. She has sacrificed many things to do for him, goes to social gatherings very seldom, lives for and with him when he is at home.

“We have always taken him back to school only when he becomes restless here. Then he seems to be very happy to go back and when we bring him home about June for the summer he is very happy to come home.

“Hoping we have made ourselves clear and wanting you to know we are trying to carry out fully what you have prescribed. Will you let us know if we have left off anything and assure you we will always be indebted to you if our boy is cured and becomes normal. Of course we make this secondary as we know nothing can be accomplished without the help of God.”

“P.S. [3430] is wanting to go back to school very badly the last week and we do not know what to do about this. We might arrange to have them give the treatments.”

R2. 8/25/44 Father’s letter to EC: “Have intended to get a letter to you for sometime, but with the every day rush and sickness have been delayed.

“First I want you to know how much good I got from being with you good people at the Conference. It will bring back to me for years many things I heard there and am sure the good it did me will not only be personal but hope to pass it along to others.

“We have given [3430] the complete treatments. He takes his colonic irrigation and goes to the osteopath the same day. He has improved in many ways this summer. He understands the meaning of things that he did not before. I was sick for 2 weeks and there was never a boy who was sweeter and more attentive all the time I was confined. Previous to this he never wanted to be around sick folks.

“We started the treatments about the 8th of July. He went about 3 weeks without a spell, but lately has had about 3 or 4 spells. We wonder why, and right here want to say we have been more able to pray since being with you folks than ever before in our life, and we know with the prayers from you folks the Great Physician will in His way answer them.

“Won’t you please enter [3430]‘s name for a reading on a recheck. I am not sure if this was done when I was there or not, but it can be now.

“Sorry to hear you were sick recently, but hope by this time you and Mrs. Cayce are feeling well and that before long your son will be back with you too.

“Please let us know about the reading and remember us in your prayers. I almost forgot to tell you we have not been able to get a person of the Unity Church to be a companion to [3430]. He is wanting to get back to his school at Frankfort, Ky. This seems to be paramount in his mind, so we think maybe we will have to take him back before long.

B1. 8/4/43 [3430]‘s father’s letter to Edgar Cayce: “My wife and I have just read, THERE IS A RIVER, of you and the great things you have done for humanity. We are both at a river, and have been for about 23 years, our only child, a boy who will be 27 next Sept. has had epilepsy since he was about 3 years of age.

“We have sent him to Stewart School at Frankfort, Ky. for the past 11 years and as we have taken him there have passed through and stayed all night at Bowling Green, also Hopkinsville and had we known of this sooner would have found you to see if you would help our boy.

“His physical condition is very good. He is well developed, his mind is about the same as a boy half his age. He seems to have less attacks there at the school than at home, at least that is the reports we have from the school.

“We bring him home the first of July each year, until sometime in September when he becomes restless to go back, then we take him back until usually the middle of Dec. and then bring him home for Xmas, and again take him back the last of January.

“When he is at home we try to find things for him to be interested in. He likes to do some things but we cannot find many things he can and will do without our assistance.

“When at home he has nearly all his attacks at night, about 10 or 11 o’clock and then some at 1 or 2 in the morning, we try in every way to keep him from all excitement, watch his diet and talk about pleasant topics. Of course we have taken him to many doctors, have had but little encouragement and many disappointments.

“My wife and myself try to live Christian lives. We were members of the same church and sunday school many years before we married, taught sunday school, and are still trying to do God’s work. Sometimes the road that has always been along a RIVER becomes so hard we can’t help but wonder, WHY? We have both for many years tried and have helped others in our daily lives, but God knows why and has a reason.

“Mr. Cayce, won’t you help us to help our boy. We would be so happy and the poor little fellow is so sweet it nearly breaks our hearts every time he has an attack. These attacks when he is at home are about a week apart as an average. Sometimes they come longer and sometimes shorter apart. They last for only a few minutes then he will go to a sleep after his bowels and kidneys move. He sleeps ‘til morning, the day after he seems tired.

“We watch his bowels, his diet and as stated before try to keep him from any excitement and crowds.

“Will you be so kind as to tell us what to do. With transportation as it is now shall we try and bring him there or what. We do want to make a normal boy if God is willing. We are and have been praying all these years. We have had the prayers of many friends, and know we will have your help.

“With sincere regards and hoping we may have an early reply, we are yours very truly…”

B2. 11/29/43 [3430]‘s father’s letter to EC: “The time you have set for a reading for our son, [3430], January 3rd, 1944 will be fine as he will be home for the holidays at that time.

“We have had this matter on our minds and prayers continuously since first writing you, and pray it will be the Lord’s will that you may be able to help him.

“I suppose you will refer to our previous letters about the trouble he has, but as stated he is 27 years old, has had epilepsy since he was about 18 months old. We have sent [him] to school at Frankfort, Ky. for the past 11 years. He likes it there and they say he has very few attacks there, but here at home he has them about once a week. He usually has them at night about an hour and a half after he goes to bed and last 10 to 20 minutes, that is before he becomes conscious.

What can we do to prevent these attacks. What would be the best place, for him to live. What can we do that he might be able to learn to read and write. Would it be the best if we lived in the country for him. Will you please advise what you want us to do and have him to do when the day for the reading comes.
