This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 2nd day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Va.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3437].

3. As we find, there are disturbances that prevent the normal reactions with this body. These are very definite and have a definite source.

4. These come from two injuries to the body; one first that occurred with the end of the spine - and it will be noted that it is still tender at times, the coccyx end of the spine. The other injury was at the 2nd cervical.

5. From these we have definite lesions formed that cause spasmodic reactions during periods of activity in the assimilating system, or from the areas in the upper or general lacteal duct.

6. These are the causes of the disturbances.

7. The brain forces have not been injured. Do not give the body an overdose of any form of sedative. Very small doses of belladonna under the direction of a physician may be given, if there are any more severe attacks. For these lesions have been of such a length of period that corrections will necessarily have to be made, and these may cause reflexes such as to produce (the corrections) one or two violent reactions - though not as severe as some, provided sweets are kept from the body.

8. In making the applications - first begin with the applying of hot Castor Oil Packs over the lacteal duct area; that is, the whole right side, from rib to the caecum area, extending at least half way over the abdomen. Do this for an hour each day for at least five days in succession. Each time when removing the Pack, (and preferably give these when the body rests or sleeps) sponge off with a weak soda water. Then massage the area gently with Cocoa Butter.

9. After the five days of applying the Packs, begin with corrections osteopathically made; 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th cervicals, and in the coccyx and sacral end of spine. Have at least four or five of these made, about four days apart. Let one such as Irvin make these adjustments. This will require the relaxing and then the making of adjustments.

10. If there is the reaction of an attack, give a small quantity of belladonna (under the physician’s direction) and then a good eliminant.

11. After a period of two or three of these applications - that is, series - these should correct and make normal conditions for the body.

12. Ready for questions.

13. (Q) Do you mean begin the osteopathic treatments after the five days of using the Castor Oil Packs? (A) As indicated, give the Oil Packs for an hour each day for five days. These should be kept warm by changing, rather than by using an electric pad; and hot cloths may be kept over same to hold the heat and to make for absorption of the oils by the body.

14. (Q) Can the baby see? (A) The baby can see.

15. (Q) What was the nature of the injuries, and when did they occur? (A) The first one was at the end of the spine. The other one came later, when the body in some manner was jerked - or the effect was to jerk the cervical areas.

16. (Q) If treatments are carefully followed, is it indicated how long it will be before the baby can be normal? (A) As just indicated. Do that, and we will have near normal conditions for this body.

“On January 2, 1944 I called upon you for a reading for my baby, [3437] living on the George Washington highway, about 3 mi. … Live on the east side of highway about 600 yards from the main road. I have very carefully followed your reading, also Dr. Irvin have gave him seven treatments. So far I cannot see the change of condition yet. During your next reading, or soon as possible, would you please see if there is anything else for me to do, or see if I should keep up these treatments and how long, maybe something may show up now, that we didn’t see in my reading of Jan. 2. I remain a faithful Ass’n. member…”

R2. 3/4/44 Gladys Davis’ letter to [3437]‘s mother:

“Due to Mr. Cayce’s illness, I am, at this late date, attempting to answer your letter of February 2nd.

“According to the reading for [3437] on January 2nd, you have not kept the treatments outlined. He was to have three series of Castor Oil Packs (five days in succession for each series) and three series of osteopathic adjustments (five treatments in each series, four days apart).

“From your letter of February 2nd, I would gather that you have only given him one complete series of the treatments.

“When you have completed three full series of the entire treatments outlined, then write us for another appointment if needed; although the reading indicates that after three complete series the body should be almost normal.

“Hoping that this clarifies matters for you, and with very best wishes for your son’s early recovery, I am,” Sincerely yours, Gladys Davis

B1. 1/2/44 Mother’s oral report: “Took baby to Johns Hopkins to Dr. Dandy [?] the world’s best brain specialist, who said there was no cure, and nothing medical aid could do for him. Then to Duke University, where they said there was nothing they could do for him… Then to Richlands, W. Va. where there was a brain specialist at an institute, and they were puzzled and unable to diagnose anything. A doctor at Norfolk treated him with some success, and predicted two years before the baby could be normal and walk. Baby has convulsions, can’t stand, can’t sit, probably can’t see, doubtful if he can hear, daily has the convulsions…”
