This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of December, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3448], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the book, THERE IS A RIVER.

Time of Reading 4:40 to 4:50 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, California.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - what pitiful conditions! As we find, there are great stresses in the body-physical. There are great possibilities in the body-mental.

3. With what purpose will the mental use its ideals? Since the physical body has been broken beyond repair physically, what will the body mentally do with its spiritual ideals? These should be rather those purposes, those hopes in this body.

4. As we find, there have been healings in the physical structure where the cerebrospinal cord has been broken, or mended, or im-pinioned so that there is little control.

5. There may be added ease and control of the alimentary canal, and the draining from the system through the bladder and kidneys. These necessarily in the present need that care be taken, that infections do not arise from the present conditions.

6. Apply the low Wet Cell Appliance to the body. Use this as the Radio-Active Appliance is ordinarily used; that is, to the opposite extremities of the body; so that there will be established in the superficial circulation, as well as tending to form the spurs being builded in the cerebrospinal areas - not the nerves themselves, the branches - the ability for control of impulses, so that voluntary and involuntary control may be eventually established as related to the activity of the functioning of organs.

7. Attach the Appliance for twenty minutes in the morning and twenty minutes in the afternoon.

8. Follow each application with a rub over the afflicted areas as well as to the limbs themselves; that we may gain feeling in the lower portion of body, as well as in the upper portion. For such massaging, on the spine and the body use this combination of oils:

Olive Oil…2 ounces, Peanut Oil…2 ounces, Lanolin (liquefied)…1/2 ounce.

9. These will aid, these will eventually help - if the mind is kept in that direction of spiritual aspirations and not material.

10. Make these applications purposefully. Not merely to be physically better, but physically better for a spiritual ideal, a spiritual purpose - that the soul may grow.

11. Ready for questions.

B1. 6/29/43 [3448]‘s letter: “On July 16, 1934 I was working in an auto assembly plant under a car body. The cable let go and the body fell on me, breaking my back in three places. The doctors operated and said the spinal nerve was ruptured and they could do nothing for me. As a result am paralyzed from waist down with no control of bowels or bladder. I have to take enemas for a bowel movement and each day it’s getting more difficult. I’m confined to a wheel chair…have never given up hope that some where the good Lord will find a way for me to get well again.”
