1. EC: Yes, we have the entity and those relations with the universe, and universal forces - that are latent and manifested in the personality of the entity now know as [346].

2. In entering the present experience, as would be indicated in numbers, numerology would make also for definite influences in the experience of the entity. Three’s, their multiples, are those which are of the greater influence in the experience. Hence in the third day, third hour, third week, third year, may there be seen the greater changes in the activities of the entity in ANY endeavor, whether pertaining to the mental, the material, or the spiritual aspects of relationships that the entity may bear with others, or in the activity with things.

3. As to the astrological influences, we find the sojourns of the entity bearing greater upon the experiences in the present from a mental development; while (which is unusual) in some cases the sojourns have more to do with that the entity may experience in its activities in the EARTH’S plane!

4. Hence the entity, we find, is one well divided in its interests; and one that may be termed, from the material standpoint, as a good business body; capable of separating that which is of the commercial nature from the activities in that other than duty, or that of sentiment as RELATED to business would not bear a great part in the experience of the entity; yet often has the entity in its experience found that the attempts to make for those relationships in this direction have a part, but this has been - and is, and will

remain - more of a rebellious sentiment in the experience of the entity.

5. From the astrological sojourns, then, we find these bearing upon the present experience:

With Venus as a ruling influence, there comes those things pertaining to the more delicate things of life; the more delicate associations in relations with individuals, or with groups; and those STRAINED relationships to kinsmen, or kinspeople, are the experience - THROUGH the same influences, but brought about rather by developments upon the mental plane with the associates of the entity.

7. Through the innate influences from Jupiter, there is the wide scope of relationships and abilities in which the entity may find interests; though, as we have indicated, these are kept separate in the experience, and oft may the entity be termed - by one who is only partly understanding as to the abilities, the turns or trends in the activities of the entity - as being one that may be called not only double minded, but capable of living more than one type of life or experience through the same daily activities.

8. The entity is capable of laying aside thoughts, then, in the various fields of endeavor. Hence the turn, trend, that will have more to do with the DEVELOPMENTS for the entity, in making for self a CAREER in its OWN activity; rather than in associations with individuals, or in marital relations, or other than those of close friendships and close relations that deal WITH rather friendships and relations, than other character of relations.

9. These influences also, as we find, in some portion of the entity’s experience, will make the entity one that may be well travelled, and visiting lands especially that deal with the character of endeavor in which the entity may engage self; which, as we find from the experiences - not only in the material earth (as will be found), but through the sojourns in various activities of the entity in the planetary realms - pertains to the textile activities, and these principally of silks, satins, brocades and laces.

10. Hence the visitations in foreign lands should include Italy, Carpathia, Egypt, Arabia, India, China and Japan; for in these lands there is given a SOUL, in a sense, to the application of physical activities towards this class of commercial life.

11. Those influences in Mars make for rather the controversy that comes into the experience of the entity, especially as to relationships regarding standards and policies that the entity may take concerning the manner in which relationships and associations may be conducted.

12. Hence, when these are tempered with those influences of Jupiter (in the ability to vision mentally from all sides, or to analyze a condition or position well), and with the activities or influences mentally that come from Venus, there are the capacities in the entity (if it will control its own self) to guide, rule or direct others.

13. Hence the entity may be termed a diplomatic leader. Hence the subjects or studies of psychology are of special interest to the entity, and this applied - in not only the relationships respecting the close associates, but in general - as in public, as in business - may be made to be very valuable in bringing to pass that the entity may desire to build for self.

14. The WARNING would be rather as to that influence which is seen from Uranus; that makes for those periods when the entity is very juberous [dubious?] about material conditions, social conditions and those surroundings, or it is very much in the opposite frame of mind or tendency; which makes for those feelings at times in the friends and relationships of the entity, that it appears rather as one who is an extremist - or at times even very radical; and at others very docile, taking blames when there is really no need or necessity.

15. Hence, if the entity will use these as the influences, and know that in the mental plane (which is the builder) - if the ideal is set in spiritual things, spiritual aptitudes, spiritual relations - those things that will come into the mental activity, if applied in the experience of the entity, will make for those developings toward that which IS carried forward by the very personality, the very individuality of the entity towards the CORRECT solution of problems and experiences in all phases of the entity’s activity.

16. Hence, these make for the abilities of the entity in bringing to pass that which will not only make for developments mentally, materially, but spiritually, if the ideals are set in those Creative Forces that may be found in those presentations of life, love and truth as manifested in the earth through the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. These are just names, if they are not made a portion of each entity’s experience.

17. KNOW in whom ye have believed, knowing He is able to keep that which has been promised, that which has been committed unto Him, against ANY experience that may arise in the activities of His brethren in the earth.

18. As to the appearances, then, and their influence upon the entity in the present experience:

19. In the one before this we find the entity was during those periods when there was the developing of those lands of which the entity is a native in the present, and especially that city then called - and later termed - the city of brotherly love.

20. The entity then was among those peoples who first, in these gatherings, began to make for the peoples of certain sects, certain sets, a separate and designated, specially designed garment for wear on SPECIAL occasions.

21. Hence the interests that have been evinced in the entity’s experience in the present, as to types, modes, models, for special designing of fabrics, cloths, even the decorative influences in home, church, and such places.

22. Through these in the present, then, may the entity gain in this experience; for these are as harkening to those experiences of the entity through that development, as Clara Eideler.

23. This became most noticeable to the entity within the last four years, especially, in its relationship to certain type of individuals that the entity was then associated with in its activities.

24. Before this we find the entity was in that period known as the Louises in France, during the early portion of the Louis reign.

25. The entity then was among those that supplied, to those that came into power, much of the decorative influences in furnishing homes; nay, not homes - but places, in which people lived - or dwelt, or met, or congregated oft.

26. Through this experience the entity gained and lost, in the name Marie.

27. And the entity in the present finds that the dealings with those that are questioned in their relationships, in their activities in a social world, are often - in the material sense - the most beneficial yet there is always that harkening to a something that needs for the entity to warn individuals of their activities, by the manner in which their relationships may be made of more benefit one to another.

28. Hence the entity often finds itself being made a confidante of, unsought; and oft the entity wonders what to do with such.

29. Before this we find the entity was in that land now known as the Persian, during those periods when there was the incoming of those to that city of refuge from the Grecian land.

30. The entity then was among those that made for the exchange of the relationships, in the manner of setting forth for those peoples in that city in the plains, gathered there, that which would separate the classes, the masses.

31. This was well for the entity in a relationship, yet brought about the detrimental influences, not only in the entity’s experience but for many of those for whom such relationships were built.

32. Hence the experience may be termed as one that was not a great development for the entity. Yet, in the name of Iily, the entity gained in NAME; yet within self a reserve was held that was never satisfied during that experience.

33. Hence the seeking for those experiences in a varied relationship, upon the return - as indicated.

34. In the present these INFLUENCES will in the material sense - ever bring a balance to the entity; and if there is the ability to determine in self that to which a body would attain, there is a way in which it may be accomplished.

35. Hence the turn to psychology and psychic forces in the experience of the entity.

36. Before this we find the entity was in that now known as the Egyptian land, during those periods when there was the building up after the return of the priest.

37. The entity then was among those of the younger natives to assume activities in the temple worship, during the latter portion - and the stress period of the priest, in that day, Ra-Ta.

38. Hence those things oriental, those things that deal with subtle odors, subtle activities upon those senses of individuals, play their part in the experience of the entity; and - not sandalwood, but - cedar surrounding the entity will bring a satisfaction; and in the burning of same, in the odors of same, may the entity harken back to much of the developed mental abilities of the entity, for the series of activities that the entity may seek to find in its relationships to individuals, to itself, to solving problems; and always burn THREE, when such is done.

39. As to the abilities in the present, the entity accomplished much, in the name Pli-Tpa, and the entity rose in power through the associations with those that became the close associates to the priest in the latter portion of his sojourn in that land. In the present may be applied much that will make, through these relationships, for the greater development of the entity in the present experience.

40. As to that which the entity may attain, and how: The abilities, as we have seen, run in many directions, when considered from purely a material plane. The periods or the activities of the entity’s endeavors should be, rather than from self, as we have indicated; for peace and harmony may come most in such activities. The abilities for adjustments of self. Not that none depend upon the entity, or that the entity does not lean upon others; yet many will call the entity blessed in those counsels, those aids the entity may give, in whatever relationship is chosen, in the activities that relate to the analysis of individuals’ desires and wants in the accomplishing and making - now - home apparel, wearing apparel, draperies, hangings, laces, and fine laces. THESE are the channels of endeavor through which the entity may find contentment, peace, and HAPPINESS even, in this mundane sphere.

41. Yet, there must come - in all the activity - an ideal, a purpose, a cause; and in THIS may the entity find that in serving others comes the greatest service of all to the Maker.

42. Ready for questions.

43. (Q) Am I equipped mentally, physically, spiritually, to carry on the work which I started three years ago? (A) Equipped mentally. SET the ideal in SPIRITUAL forces, that ENABLE self to be a channel of bringing not only material and mental desires to others, but weave in with the relations those things that build for permanent activity in the minds of those with whom the entity associates self.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I received my life reading and very much appreciate your help. I have not written before - as I wanted to read and re-read the paper until I thoroughly understood all of it and could ask some questions which may clarify other parts I do not understand.

I feel as tho some one had taken me to a mountain top and pointed out over a valley and said “in these homes you have lived and because of your lives there - you are able to conduct your affairs - so - now” - It has helped me to get more of an impersonal view of my job - and my personal associations. For months I’ve been coming to the conclusion that I’ve been much TOO personal and have had too great an idea of my new responsibility for others. I seem to get into the worst messes trying to assume responsibility for other peoples habits, morals and happiness - but its a hard job to break away from those little ruts.

Now to get back to the reading - it seems I’m in the right work alright - but I can’t find out from this reading just where I am making my mistakes - I’m just NOT making the business progress rapidly enough to earn a living - Also - about the two associates, Miss [355] and Mr. [425] - its a big question with me right now - whether to break away from one or both or keep them. Personally I feel so far as Miss [355] is concerned - I would get further and more quickly if she would find employment elsewhere. But the relationship is such that I have been afraid of serious results with her if I made her leave. Just how far I should go - and what the forces want us to work out I can’t find out

• it is both a difficult and delicate matter.

I am interested in the paragraphs relating to Clara Eideler - I want to find out more about her life if it possible. It so happens that I am a Quaker - and I think I must have been born a Quaker and made Quaker Clothes - as Clara Eideler.

The last paragraph of the reading - is it possible to determine whether or not my plans and dreams to build an endowed Institution for Textile Research may be the CAUSE in which I am to serve in this Incarnation - or is it an idle dream? At least for 3 years I have consciously built my work and affairs toward that end.

I am very anxious to get started on further study and try to live in so far as it is possible for me to determine - by the best Spiritual guidance I may receive.

I very much appreciate your help and so soon as it is possible I shall send you my membership fee.

B1. 5/20/33 “With 2 friends I attended the [Edgar Cayce Foundation dinner] meeting the other evening in N.Y. and I so much appreciated having the opportunity to hear of your plans to form a group here in this district… Mr. [333] called us yesterday and suggested our sending you the required information for a rdg. [Miss [355], Capt. [425], and Miss [346]]. We have been studying for 3 yrs. and each in our own development have made much progress. We have felt the need of a teacher to enable us to go further and we believe you and your organization may be the answer to our questions.

For 3 yrs. I have tried to establish a Textile Research business. I feel there is a great need for such an institution and I have been anxious to progress sufficiently to fill this need in industry in such a way that I at the same time can help spread the work for the greater happiness of those with whom we come in contact… Is this the work for which I am here on this life plane to develop? What is the next step in my spiritual and business progress? How can I best prepare for it? What is my relation in this lifetime with [Miss [355]] and [Capt. [425]]? Are we 3 to work out a life together or are we to go our separate ways? Will there be a recurrence of the very difficult personal period we 3 have just been through? Will I marry this man or any other OR is this life plane for me a development of the work ONLY? What should be my attitude toward this man to better prepare me for the remainder of this life Path? Is it true my step-mother Bertha is a close guide and helper to me? I have often felt her near. What is my relation in the future to be with my father and sister? What can I do to be peaceful, poised, and happy, so I in turn can help others to be so. I need SO much help in this because it is difficult to retain poise. Will the business I am in begin to progress as I have wished, and what shall I do to bring it to its rightful place in industry? Will Herbert Hoover play any part in the institutional plan we have dreamed of?”
