This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of April, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - [3468], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.)]
Time of Reading 11:35 to 11:40 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Michigan.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before. As we find, there are improvements and yet the body is far from all that might be desired.
-
We would keep up those things suggested for general body-building, with the vitamins indicated in Kaldak.
-
Every month we would skip three to four days straight running; that is, leave off the properties so that the system may react to better assimilation and better stimulation throughout the body.
-
For the swelling and for better activity we would continue to have the rubs daily. At least three times each week, with the rubs we would add the treating of the cerebrospinal system with the Violet Ray for two to two and one-half minutes along each side of the spine rather than on the spine itself so much.
-
We would take those properties to keep better eliminations. Keep these up and we should find gradually better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is causing the swelling of the foot? (A) The poor circulation. Thus the massages as indicated, from the base of the brain to the 9th dorsal, then from the end of the spine - especially across the sacral area - upward in a circular motion to the 9th dorsal.
As these stimulations come, the massages should be from the toes all the way up the limbs, so that better circulation may be established.
Take small quantities of any stimulation for the circulation, but only under the direction of a physician.
We find that one tablet of Calcidin each day (a one grain tablet) will be much better for the body, as this combination of calcium and iodine would be well for the body.
-
(Q) I am losing the use of my feet. Do you think there is any chance of improvement in them? (A) Keep up the treatments suggested and we will find gradually better results.
-
(Q) Do you mean that the Calcidin should be given only under the direction of a physician? (A) If this is not sufficient, take strychnine under the direction of a physician. The one grain Calcidin tablet, of course, need not necessarily be given by the physician.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/12/44 [3468]‘s letter to EC: “Just a few lines to let you know how I am getting along. I feel pretty well discouraged. I am no better than I was a year ago. In fact, I think the tremor in my hands is a little worse. You will remember I had my first reading last December 23rd; the second, April 3rd.
“I have been taking ‘KalDak’ from January, and my general health is better, but the ‘Palsy’ is not better and my feet are worse. I can’t walk as well.
“In the April 3rd reading you prescribed ‘Calcidin’, one grain daily for swelling of my left foot. This seemed very strange as we always give Calcidin for colds. However, my foot is no worse. I am still taking it.
“I don’t mean to complain. I know you have done some very wonderful things. Have had some wonderful cures. I guess my case is just one of those cases that won’t respond to any treatment.
“I thank you for your efforts…”
R2. 7/3/44 [3468]‘s letter to EC: “According to your instructions, I am writing you again. There isn’t anything new to report in my case. My hands are very trembly, about the same as they have been for some time. My feet are not so well. I can’t walk as well as I could a few months ago, although the swelling has gone out of them a little. I am still able to handle the little store, although it is getting pretty difficult.
“My doctor doesn’t hold out any encouragement to me at all. Of course, that is very discouraging; leads to morbidity and the blues.
“I am sure you are my last chance. If there is any help for me it must come through. You have done so many wonderful things, it seems as though there might be some help for me yet. I will appreciate more than I can tell you, whatever you can do for me.
“Mrs. […] sends her best regards and best wishes to you. She thinks you are very fine. We both think it would be a very great honor to meet you.”
R3. 8/15/44 Questions submitted:
- I seem to have a torpid liver. I have to take a liver stimulant or laxative quite often. I would be glad of your advice on this subject.
- This Paralysis Agitans I have is getting a little worse as I get older; hands are very trembly. The disease is also getting into my feet lately. I can’t walk very well. Please prescribe for this thing.
- Also this disease causes great morbidity. Can you prescribe for that?
- Can you offer a suggestion as to the cause of this disease? My doctor says it is absolutely incurable. Do you agree with him?
- I am careful of my diet and I do not overwork.
- I find ‘Meditation and Prayer’ somewhat difficult, don’t know why. Maybe I just don’t know how.
- For the last year I have been bothered with ‘nervous spasms.’ I don’t know the cause, but they are always accompanied by gas in my stomach.
- Good news. Nearly all winter I had bad swelling of left foot. The doctor called it poor circulation; you said the same. In your April reading you prescribed Calcidin, one grain daily, which I have taken ever since. Swelling has now disappeared.
