This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of July, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self [3471], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 P. M. Eastern War Time. Chicago, Ill.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time with suggestions for further corrective measures, answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [3471]; this we have had before.

3. While there are some improvements, the body is continuing to have a great deal of disturbance.

4. As we find, we would keep the adjustments but we would use once more the Packs, cleansing the alimentary canal.

5. Then we would take, following this, each day one drop of Atomidine for five days in succession. On the fifth day take five drops, and then have a saturated solution of Epsom Salts Bath. This pretty warm. Massage thoroughly into the body while it is in the bath, using at least forty gallons of water and at least twenty pounds of Epsom Salts.

6. Then we would rest three or four days. During the time have at least two of the adjustments and then take the Atomidine again for five days. Then have the bath again.

7. Use at least three of these and we should find help.

8. Do have the oil rubs after the baths have been given.

9. Ready for questions.

10. (Q) What is the reason for this peculiar weakness that has always tortured me? (A) The poisons in the system.

11. (Q) Is thyroid the correct treatment? (Dr. Musselman is giving me thyroid and describes it by saying the body has no “tone”.) (A) We don’t find that as one of the necessary treatments in this condition.

12. (Q) Is it best, then, to discontinue? (A) These are detracting rather than aiding.

13. We are through with this reading.

R1. 9/26/44 [3471]‘s letter to EC:

“I suppose the little notice in the Bulletin I received yesterday means that my appointment for a reading, September 15, was cancelled.

“I was depending so completely upon the advice I was to get from it that I hardly know what to do or where to turn.

“I have been holding on at this work trying to wait for it. The production requirements have been made so stiff and they hold ‘demotion’ and ‘no promotions’ over us as whips, as they are trying to ‘freeze out’ we older workers and get in ‘new blood’ as the head of our section phrases it. I have derived so much help from the physical check ups that I was resting on the thought of help in my other problems.

“If that means it is cancelled and I am not to receive it at all, please tell me or if I am to receive it at some later date, please give me definite information as to what or when. The nerve strain of not knowing definitely wears on me. I am enclosing an airmail stamped addressed envelope and I would appreciate deeply hearing as soon as you possibly can tell me.

“My health is already improving more under the treatment you gave me than it had in four years of treatments from different doctors. I seemed to be slowly and painfully dying until you helped me.

“If I am not to have the reading I am going to try to find other work. I may be dismissed after the emergency and thought I should know what to do. I seem to be where I can hardly judge what to do…”

R2. 10/15/44 [3471]‘s letter to EC:

“Thank you for the letter and check enclosed. I am surely sorry about your ill health. It is so very discouraging to wish to do so much good and not be able to do it. I do hope you improve soon. I am so happy over the improvement that has already taken place in my health. I feel as though I had been in a dark cellar and had come up to the light.

“I surely wish to have the Life Reading when your health has improved enough that it is possible. I know it will be a wonderful thing. I shall keep in touch and write as suggested. ”

“I am sending for some of the booklets. Surely wish I could help a lot but maybe I can help some as soon as I get my doctor bills paid for the good they did NOT do me.

“Thanks so very much for the help you have given me…”

R3. 3/22/47 GD’s letter to [3471]:

“As you perhaps know from the Bulletin and Diary-Letter which have been mailed to you regularly, I am now devoting my entire time to securing reports on the readings and indexing the information under subject headings.

“Not having heard from you directly since Mr. Cayce’s passing, I am writing to enquire as to your present state of health and to ask if you will give me a complete report on your case. This is in order that I may index your ailment under the technical name by which it was called at the time you secured the readings; also that we may compile the information of a similar nature to help those who are suffering with the same ailment. I’d appreciate your filling out the enclosed form and giving me the last word on your case, whether it is favorable or unfavorable - though I hope, for your sake and the sake of others suffering similarly, that you are entirely free of the disturbance.

“We’d love to hear from you and to have you get in touch with other members in the Chicago area, if you’d be interested in meeting members of a congenial group all interested in Mr. Cayce’s work - or rather in the furthering of the purpose for which he gave his life.

R4. 3/31/47 Dr. Musselman’s reply to Questionnaire:

R5. 11/24/50 [3471]‘s letter to Virginia Beach:

“I meant to pay my subscription when due but was ill and paid so much to doctors and different tests that I have been going on a slim budget.

“I shall pay for this last year as soon as possible, which will not be soon, and please discontinue my subscription on due date. I can then pick it up again when my budget doesn’t show up in the red…”

R6. 11/20/74 Note from William McGarey, M.D. to E.C.F.:

“This is just a note. I’ve been going over the Myasthenia Gravis file, and after studying this particular reading [3471-1 & 3471-2], I do not believe it is proper to list it as Myasthenia Gravis. The individual had weakness, but that was due to factors other than those which cause the real honest-to-goodness Myasthenia Gravis…”
