GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions; also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body. You will answer any questions I may ask you regarding same.
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Now, we find there are those existing conditions that bring about the improper reactions in the physical forces of the body. These are specific conditions, and there are resultant effects that apparently are causes; yet the greater portion of that causing distress is the reflex conditions as are produced by other existent conditions - though the condition or result has existed for such a period there are organic disturbances that must be dealt with also.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them existent in this body, [348] we are speaking of. First:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, here we find the effects of improper elimination, and the disturbance as created by poor elimination, and by disturbed circulation - that that may be called short circuit circulation.
-
In the elements as are existent in the body - in the blood supply we are speaking of - especially from this condition is an over-acidity in the system, as well as much of the refuses of body improperly taken from system.
-
IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find kept rather at a high tension, produced by non-activity of portions of the nerve reflexes, and by the poor condition existent in blood supply, as well as of specifics that cause much of the disturbance in the functioning of organs. These are seen especially in the upper portion of the solar plexus ganglion, as well as that of the lower cardiac ganglion. This gives the improper reaction through the functioning of nerve impulses to the organs as are affected by such misdirected impulse, as is seen from an over-acidity there is existent in the pyloric, as WELL as cardiac end of stomach - ONE in the lower end, or pyloric end, of laceration. In the upper or cardiac end, rather that of ulceration. These are, as yet, not OVER large in area; yet unless the condition is corrected we would have the ulceration extending, and possibly CLOSING the orifice of stomach proper. These conditions produce, or ARE produced from the condition existent in the lumbar and dorsal, or dorsals regions, as are outlined. The condition being that of the ulceration, and of laceration, bring improper conditions to the digestion when entering the intestines, and those of the blood forces become impoverished by same. Hence the portions that are reflex and the conditions as disturb functional portions of body, and of the depleted blood supply - tautness of nerve system, and inability to digest properly, even when careful diet is exercised by the body physically. The functioning of the organs show these conditions exist: As is seen reflexly to the eyes, as bother the body at times. The condition as exists in the mouth proper at times. The condition exists in throat, and the EFFECT as produced upon the eliminations, especially through the alimentary canal, and the disturbed circulation; as that seen in the extremities of the body, in the hands, as irritation - in the lower limbs - as that of form of tetter, or eczema, or of rash in the outer portions of the skin.
-
To meet the needs of these conditions will require considerable patience, and - most of all - persistence in the correct way and manner, would we [if we would] bring normal conditions for the body. These, as we find them, would necessitate CHANGING in the directions for correcting the conditions; that is, the effect need not so MUCH attention until that PRODUCING same is taken care of, save as to the nerve and blood stimuli for the system while the corrections are BEING made. Then specific conditions to meet that not taken care OF by the full correction of that PRODUCING or causing the condition in the body.
-
Be careful of the diet while these applications are being made for the correction. Do not partake too heavily of meats. Do not eat WHITE bread. Rather that that is taken should ALWAYS be toasted and brown, and whole wheat or rye bread used. Do not take too much potatoes. Plenty of the JUICES of meat may be taken, so long as not much or little of the flesh is taken. No fish may be taken, not well for the body, and especially no shell fish. A little stimulant of wine and iron may be taken, but little that produces any of the alcoholic effect in the body.
-
Correct those improper incentives from nerve ganglia in the 2nd brachial plexus, or the secondary cardiac plexus - the upper plexus of solar plexus, or at the 8th and 9th dorsal, and that at the 4th lumbar, osteopathically. Do not attempt to make the full adjustments at ONCE! These should be treated at least six to eight times, even, before adjustments are attempted - and use those vibrations from the Double X Radium Appliance for the blood and nerve actions of body.
-
When these have been carried out at least twenty-eight osteopathic treatments, and at least five ADJUSTMENTS, osteopathically, then we would give that for the better correction. These may be brought to normal. Do not worry over the condition, but do not forget that it may become serious.
-
As for the condition existent in the eliminations through alimentary canal, with the corrections osteopathically we will find near normal conditions, but it would not be well to attempt to prevent these eliminations through these channels to be absorbed - the poisons from same - back into the system. Correct the impulses. Correct the conditions - and ALL the water that is taken should have at least a pinch, occasionally, of elm bark in same. Well, too, that every few days several glasses of Yellow Saffron Tea (mild form) be taken by the body. Do not indulge in alcoholic drinks, or that that produces same - though wine and iron may be taken for the body in moderation - see? Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there anything in diet that should be eliminated or added? (A) Use the diet as we have outlined! If it compares with that taken (which it does not!), alright. IF it doesn’t, then remove those things from the diet and add others to take the place of same, as we have outlined. Follow that as given. All manner of vegetables, of course, other than that given to be left out, see?
-
We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/29/28 Letter from [340] to EC: ”…Your letter with the reading came this afternoon and I don’t know when I’ve received such a shock. Of course, I had no idea that [348] was in any such condition. I can’t help but feel alarmed about him, of course, but you may know that I will do everything in my power to see that he carries out your instructions to the letter. [348] is the type person to never complain about how he feels, and knowing that, is the reason I was so anxious for a reading…
“[348] has been feeling much better the last ten days. Has had very little pain he says. Of course the past week he has been under quite a strain.”
R2. 4/2/28 Letter from [340] to EC: ”…Maybe I can write a little more sanely today. I was so upset over the reading because I was not at all prepared for anything like that. Of course, I haven’t had time to have an answer to my last letter to you, but I have already ordered the XX Appliance and of course asked them to please rush it. I am so anxious for [348] to get properly under the influence of everything you prescribed for him. He is starting his treatments tonight and is going to the same Osteopath that Mr. [953] and Mr. [270] are going to.” [C. 0. Wright, M.D., D.O.,D.C.]
R3. 4/16/28 Letter from [340] to EC: “[348] has had the XX pad nearly a week now. Will be a week tomorrow to be exact and of course he hasn’t had it off a minute since he received it, except to charge it. I know you have never had a more persistent patient before, as far as his knowledge goes. I mean by that if he does anything he shouldn’t do, it’s because he doesn’t know any better. He says he doesn’t feel as tired in the mornings when he gets up as he did before he commenced to wear the pad, and feels like it is going to help him. But the last two or three days he has had some pain, no not severe - but more than he has had for three or four weeks, and his lip is simply lined with fever blisters - one comes right after the other - and he has had VERY LITTLE appetite the last few days.
“Now I want to ask you and Dr. House and see if you don’t think it would be a good idea to have another reading and see if he is following your instructions correctly. You said in your reading to have osteopath treatments, and I thought this Dr. was an Osteopath until he had had the first treatment, but he is a Chiropractor - tho’ he seems very good and says [348] is responding to the treatments very nicely - but what you say and what he says MAY be different. I think [348] looks badly - he is losing weight right along, and I can’t help but worry about him. Of course, I don’t know how far ahead you are booked, but if you think it is consistent I wish you would give him a reading at your earliest date convenient…
“Please ask which is better for him [348] to drink - sweet milk or buttermilk and about salad dressings on salads - and if sweet potatoes are alright and also what fruits he may eat. He hasn’t touched a bite of white bread nor white potato since your reading came - and if he eats any meat he chews it enough to get the juices and that’s all…”
R4. 4/18/28 Letter from Dr. House [Thos. B. House, M.D.] to [340]: ”…Replying to yours of Monday, I regret to state that Edgar has been unable to talk some five or six days. We are unable to get a reading of any kind at the present. However, as the first possible chance we will take a reading on Mr. [348].
“From your letter, I would suggest that he stop the chiropractic treatment until we can get a reading - as I think it’s exactly against the reading, if I remember it. I would suggest, however, in the absence of a check reading, that he cut out salads and salad dressings. Try sweet potatoes very sparingly. I would think that the fruits would be indicated, all except bananas. I’m very sorry indeed to know of your husband’s condition, and certainly hope we will be able to get a check reading for him in a few days. If we can be of further service at any time, let us know…”
R5. 4/23/28 Mr. [270]‘s letter:
“Had quite a talk with Mr. [348] recently and I understand from the Dr. who is giving the adjustments that he is coming along nicely.”
R6. 5/4/28 Letter from EC to [340]: ”…We will make [348]‘s appointment for the afternoon of the 11th… I certainly am in hopes that he is now on the improve, and I understand from a letter from Mr. [270] that he thinks he is…”
R7. 5/8/28 Letter from [340] to EC: ”…Yes, I’ll be so glad to get a ‘check-up’ on [348]‘s reading. Am so anxious to know if the Dr. is doing his work properly. However, HE says is responding beautifully - much faster than he thought he would, and he said he believed you would say the same thing. But [348] looks badly - his color is bad and he has lost his usual ‘pep’ - You know he was always so bright and happy, but now he seems so depressed all the time, which is so unlike him. Then I’m anxious to know about his diet - if I’m giving him the right things to eat - or leaving out something that he should have.”

R10. 7/47 GD’s note: We heard that Mr. [348] has just had surgery for removal of ulcers of the stomach. [Duodenal ulcers]

B1. 3/20/28 Wife [340]‘s letter: “I do hope that you have kept the 26th open. I feel like [348] needs something as soon as possible… What causes attacks of indigestion? Continuous looseness of the bowels? Rash on legs below the knees? Is there anything in diet that should be eliminated or added?”
