This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of December, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3505], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

At the … Time of Reading Manufacturing Co., 3:40 to 3:50 P. M. Eastern War Time. Toledo, Ohio.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: (Toledo, Ohio - he’s in good vibrations!) Yes, we have the body here. He’s expecting it.

3. As we find there are conditions that prevent the better physical functioning. These are primarily effects produced in the sensory system. These, as we find, then, while primarily affecting the sensory forces are deeper-seated in body-functioning and are incoordinations between sympathetic and cerebrospinal reflexes in the main; affecting the auditory centers or forces. Thus as we find, the bronchi and larynx are involved.

4. These arise from a condition aided or abetted by a catarrhal condition in the head, through nasal passages and in throat, having caused a prolapsus in the Eustachian tubes.

5. As we find, if there will be taken the time, there may be a great deal of help brought to the body. It would require rest periods for a consistent length of time.

6. Almost three times each week for about four or five weeks, then, we would have osteopathic finger surgery to relieve the lesions formed that are causing the prolapsus. Then rest from these for one or two weeks. Then have the second series when minor finger surgery measures would be used. Treatments would be given generally through those periods, though, only once a week to keep the Eustachian tubes open.

7. Diet and activity should be outlined for the body by the osteopath administering the treatment, for it would depend upon the environ in which this would be carried out. We would suggest one of the osteopaths connected with the osteopathic hospital in Philadelphia or Richardson of Norfolk, Virginia.

8. Do these, as we find, for better conditions of the body.

10. (Q) Will this help my breathing? (A) This condition is to be met by a part of the treatments indicated that should be administered in preparing the body for finger surgery measures, for the palate must be lifted and the tubes massaged through these areas. This would relieve the tensions in the upper dorsal and cervical, as well as coordinate the rest of the body, setting up better drainages through the lymph and through the alimentary canal. Thus the breathing would be helped.

R1. This was the first time Jeanette Fitch was steno for the day’s readings without GD’s presence. GD went to Petersburg, Va. to meet the girl whom her brother Burt was later to marry.

R2. 1/5/44 [3505]‘s letter to EC reporting on reading: “A thousand thanks for what you have done for me. I put off writing until I had some money to send you on my associate membership. Enclosed find a money order for 20.00, part of the 100.00 I have vowed myself to pay over a period of time. I wish I could send more & shall whenever possible.

“I have done as you said in getting in touch with the Philadelphia School of Osteopathy. Although there are quite a few Osteopaths in my city there are none connected with the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy. However they gave me the address of one Dr. Robert Roscoe, 630 Osborn Bldg., Cleveland, Ohio as connected with them. However, I wish to know if this is alright or should I go to see Dr. Richardson of Norfolk, Va.? The money or time is of no concern to me as I only wish to act on your advice, as it means everything to me. Please advise and God be with you always,” [3505]

R3. 1/12/44 [3505]‘s letter to EC: “I have indeed found that I failed to enclose the money order and am indeed very sorry. It was quite stupid of me, however I have sent it a few days ago with a note of apology which will probably be in your possession when you receive this.

“Following your advice I have contacted the Philadelphia School of Osteopathy in regards as to the proximity of an osteopath from their school in my vicinity. They informed me of Dr. Robert Roscoe of Cleveland, Ohio. I wrote him stating facts of my case and he is familiar with your readings & issues & said he would be very glad to undertake my case and knows that your instructions should be followed to the letter. If this is satisfactory to you I will proceed at once with treatment, please advise.” Cordially, [3505]

R4. 1/28/44 EC wrote Mr. [3505]: “I do hope that you have gotten started with the treatments and that you are possibly already feeling some difference. Do keep pretty close to the suggestions indicated for you and I believe you will get real results.

R5. GD’s note: With the hectic last year of Edgar Cayce’s life, people clamoring for appointments, Mr. [3505] may have communicated and his letter got lost in the shuffle. At any rate we have nothing on file from him until the following:

R6. 3/18/54 Mr. [3505] wrote to A.R.E.:

Dear Sirs:

“Approximately ten years ago I had a reading of myself taken by the late Edgar Cayce. It was acted on but not to the letter. Even so, the results were amazing.

“I would like to know if you have a record of my reading in your files and if I could have a copy of it, as I have lost mine. I would like to try it again. Cordially, I remain,” [3505]

R7. 3/31/54 A copy of his reading was sent with a bill for $1.50 for retyping it.

R9. 2/10/81 GD’s note: In the 1976 american Osteopathic Directory [the latest I have] Dr. Robert S. Roscoe is listed as a practising D.O. in Fort Lauderdale, Fl., Box 2195 Las Olas Hospital 33303.

B1. 9/14/43 [3505]‘s letter to EC: “I heard about your wonderful power and truly believe it is the gift of God. I am writing to you to ask you to help me as I, like many others, have just about given up hope, but not quite. I guess hope does spring eternal. I have been hard of hearing for many years so bad that I need a hearing aid and have trouble with catarrh which I believe is responsible for my deafness. I, too, studied the Bible for sometime but I guess my faith is poor. Will you please take a reading for me? I will do whatever you say and you have but to name the price. To hear again my mothers voice and to be able to go to church again to sing again is the first thing I want to do. Won’t you please help me? I have had great trials on account of my deafness both at work and elsewhere. If I could hear good again I will probably go in the army. To serve my country that I love will make me proud indeed. I sure feel like a slacker even though I can’t help it if they won’t take me on account of bad hearing. I am 29 years old and in good health outside of catarrh and bad hearing. Please take a reading for my hearing, Mr. Cayce. It will mean everything to me. Sometimes I feel on the verge of despair.”

B2. 9/27/43 [3505]‘s letter to EC: “Your books are the most interesting bit of work I have ever had the privilege to read. I am hard of hearing and have been so for many years After reading your books of Edgar Cayce’s great work I feel that I am on the right road at last and that my prayers have been heard. I have had great ordeals and trials because of my affliction. I lost the love of the girl I intended to marry and I am having difficulties with my job. I lost my urge to try for anything because it appeared so hopeless.

“At times I tried to study the Bible but somehow I fell off. I cannot go to church to sing or pray when I don’t know what is going on and cannot hear the sermon anyhow. I have no illusions of myself being a saint but with your help and by the grace of God I can at last better myself to the upmost of my ability.

“I intend to become a life member of your organization to serve Him who made all things possible unto me.

“May the grace of God be with you always.”

B3. 10/17/43 [3505]‘s letter to EC: “In answer to your letter of Oct. 5th. I am very grateful and I accept the date of the 21st of January for my reading. At the time of 3:30 to 4:30 I will be at my work at the …

“I will do my best to keep the period in prayer and meditation. As to the questions about my physical condition

• I am hard of hearing in both ears and I have catarrh or sinus trouble which makes my hearing worse. I have difficulty in breathing at times (stopped up nose many times). All this dates back to when I was a boy in the 4th grade at Indiana Grade School in my neighborhood. It is believed that I first caught this trouble from a bad cold I caught from laying on the ground in my back yard.

“My parents consulted many doctors and specialists to little avail.

“My hearing gradually got worse and I had to go to a school for the deaf, being unable to keep up with normal children. I have ever since been that way.

“However I have never given up hope of getting my hearing back although I have had many disappointments and have spent much money to no avail. I must say that at periods I studied the Bible which ever keeps this hope alive. For I take Jesus at his word when he says, ‘Ask and it shall be given unto you, seek and ye shall find.’

“I knew that someday something would turn up, so I bide my time, for God works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform. I feel, when I heard of you, that my time has come and I am thanking God for it.

“Although I am far from being a saint, I know that Jesus will forgive; for He knows what goes on deep in my heart and He says ‘Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.’

“Thanking you again, and may the grace of God be always with you,” [3505]
