1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we are given the records here of that entity called [3509].

3. In interpretating the records, these are most interesting. Yet there are the tendencies in the present for the entity to sidetrack from the straight and narrow way. It is well that an individual be broadminded, but one can be so broad-minded as to miss the purpose, the ideal. For the ideal is the straight and narrow way. The broad way oft leads to the lack of virtues of many natures.

4. In giving the interpretation, these we would choose with the desire and purpose that this information be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfill the purposes for which it entered this present sojourn.

5. The entity has virtues in directions that are not being applied, because it would require time and study - and he has gone on in directions that may make for material success but may eventually result in mental and spiritual failure.

6. Here is an entity that should study music. Then if the entity desires to become the musical director of pictures or the like, very well. But get more of the music in the soul than that of pure materiality or the desire for coin of the realm. This oft takes wings and flies away. Fame and fortune may follow with the broad way, but it will also slip away too easily.

7. Turn again first to those principles latent deep within thee in spiritual things. First find thyself. Analyze the ideals. Know in what direction ye would go, and with what spirit thy purposes are prompted - that it may bring fame or fortune or that ye may be highly spoken of in certain circles, that ye may gratify thy own vanity, that ye may add to those things? Do ye say to thyself, “Yes, when I have attained, I will give this or that or the other”? If you don’t give yourself, though you make but fifty cents a day - though you feel that you would give so bountifully if you were a millionaire, you wouldn’t do a thing if you had a couple of million! This is fooling yourself! Ye are fooling yourself in planning what ye would do when ye attain. Do it now! Begin! For the individual soul-entity grows in grace. You don’t hop off a ladder up on the upper boughs! You grow, you climb up! You GROW to that. It unfolds, it develops with the character, with the purpose, with the ideal of the entity.

8. Here, as implied astrological aspects mean nothing. For you have smashed all of them so that they would be nil. Astrologically you would be a choir singer, but you are far, far from it in the present.

9. These, then, apply in thy experience.

10. As to the appearances in the earth, these we find quite varied. While not all will be given, these indicate the trend, the abilities, the virtues, yea some of the faults. We would magnify the virtues, we would minimize the faults. It would be well for this to be thy policy, thy tenet. For there is none so bad nor yet so good that any can afford to judge or speak evil of the other. Ye may speak evil of evil things, but not of man. For he is in the image of his God and his God is eternal. The man’s soul is eternal. Then speak not evil of thy brother, lest ye condemn thine own self.

11. Before this the entity was in the Roman land when Grecian influences were adopted.

12. The entity then was a Grecian. Hence in the present we will find many of those characteristics, in figure, in form, in the carriage, the bearing, tending towards the Greek - but don’t add the god to it; but the Greek in manner and mien.

The entity then was among those chosen to represent and to present to the Roman peoples the Greek abilities in acting, in speech making in the dance as pertaining to entertaining as well as exercise. This was the beginning of the presentation of such that would appeal to the emotions rather than to that formerly aroused in individuals pertaining to their worship.

13. The entity gained in abilities and in mental purposes, but question marks might be put in regard to spiritual things.

14. It is dependent, then, upon the application of the entity as to what he makes of those abilities, those virtues attained through those experiences.

15. The name then was Xornen.

16. In the present we find the entity’s abilities as an executive, as a director, those abilities to judge music and to be influenced by such - for good or for evil - dependent upon that it is to appeal to.

17. Before that the entity was in the promised land, being among those children that went out of Egypt when the peoples were returning to the promised land.

18. The entity was very close to those in authority, then being a nephew of Joshua, the son of Nun, of the tribe of Ephraim.

19. The entity was among those trained in the activities that were a part of those undertakings. The entity was among those awed by the experiences when the children of Moab were destroyed, when the stories had been reiterated to the people by the leaders, when Balaam and Barak added to the experiences of the children of Israel.

20. The name then was Oshearne. The entity gained. For the entity, in those periods when the activities were reestablished after the fall of Jericho, came close to the service of Joshua; thus adding to the abilities as an executive, as a leader, as a director, as an interpreter, as a datastician, or statistician.

21. These are innate and manifested in the experiences of the entity. Yet, as indicated, music is that which appeals to the latent and creative force within the entity. For music alone may span that sphere from the sublime to the ridiculous, to the finite to the infinite, from the spheres of activity to the realms of the divine.

22. Music is as color, as tone, as a destructive or creative force, dependent upon that to which it appeals in the influence of individuals.

23. Before that the entity was in Egypt during those reconstruction periods, and especially those activities in the Temple Beautiful when the dances were established in that temple for the exercise of body, for the rhythm in presenting the ideal activities through the sphere of relationship of creative forces to man’s interpreting of same in body and mind.

24. There we find that the entity was a director and a teacher in same and these abilities are a portion of the entity’s activities. The entity will do well in these, provided the spirit of same if found - for that within self which is creative, constructive, and not appeal only to the sense or emotions of self, or sex. Keep far from these in the experiences.

25. As to the abilities of the entity in the present that to which it may attain and how:

26. First find self and the relationships to the Creative Forces. Add to thyself brotherly love, patience, longsuffering, gentleness, kindness, and these will bring within thy experience a varied concept from that being applied in the present.

27. Better right about face while it is time, else the glory of the Lord may pass thee by.

29. (Q) What course should I pursue to develop my talent as revealed in this Reading? If a school is necessary, which would be preferable? If a private tutor, his or her name and address: if a sponsor, the name. (A) Private tutor, if you would develop your music - and that’s what it should be.

30. (Q) Would you suggest a tutor or a sponsor? (A) This depends upon what type is chosen by self and as to how it is to be applied. The entity should study to direct music.

31. (Q) Should I seek an immediate change of employment? If so, when, where, and to whom? (A) Continue - this well where you are, if you will face about - in purpose.

32. (Q) Career as a pianist was brought to an end through my extreme nervousness and lack of confidence, and other talents have suffered because of an overpowering fear. What am I to do? (A) No doubt overpowering fear. Right about face! Know it is within thee! Defying this has brought the fear, has brought the anxieties. Turn about, and pray a little oftener. Do this several weeks, yes - let a whole moon pass, or a period of a moon - 28 days - and never fail to pray at two o’clock in the morning. Rise and pray - facing east! Ye will be surprised at how much peace and harmony will come into thy soul. This doesn’t mean being goody-goody - it means being good for something, but let it be creative and not that which will eventually turn and rend thee.

33. (Q) I seem to be well liked and have a host of casual friends, but not an intimate. Why? (A) How many intimate friends do you claim? If you would have friends, be friendly. If you would have love, show thyself lovely.

34. (Q) Is there a likelihood of my ever being reclassified and taken into the Armed forces? If so, is it indicated in what branch and where? (A) In the Special Service would be the branch to apply for, to be active in, if changed. We don’t see it changed.

35. (Q) Any other advice? (A) Study self, for in the study of self ye will know others also.

36. We are through for the present.

R1. 10/17/73 Letter from member, Adele R. Minissale:

“Last month in the EDGAR CAYCE READER under the editorship of Hugh Lynn Cayce, I came across the advice given in reading 3509-1 to rise and pray facing east at two o’clock in the morning for a period of 28 days to gain peace and harmony. I am by nature a quick-tempered individual though I try desperately to contain myself, and I was having a terrible problem with my nine year old son that was causing me to experience an almost constant feeling of turmoil and sadness. It seemed that following the advice would be well worth the effort.

“On September 17th I began setting my small battery operated alarm clock which I have used for more than two years for 2 a.m. Beside it I placed another clock of the same variety and set it for 7:15. On the first three nights (mornings) between 12:45 a.m. and 1:45 a.m. the alarm clock without being touched slid across the night table and hit the floor with a tremendous thud. Both my arms were in their normal sleeping position placed under my pillow. I had the distinct feeling that something did not want me to awaken at 2 a.m. to pray. I have now been rising at 2 a.m. to pray for over a month, and it is interesting to note that the alarm set for 2 a.m. (never the other one which is next to it) slides across the night table and hits the floor with a tremendous force at least three times a week. Amazingly enough, it hasn’t broken. My husband who is by nature a sceptic thinks this occurrence is ‘strange’.

“At first rising to pray at 2 a.m. seemed like a tremendous sacrifice, but I have experienced a feeling of tranquility and last week while praying at 2 a.m. I received an answer which seemed to come from within on how to handle the situation with my little boy. Though no one but my husband knows of my 2 a.m. prayer sessions, many people have remarked that they can’t believe how different and calm our son seems in the past week. I have decided to continue rising at 2 a.m. to pray, and if there is some force which is opposed, I trust in the protection of the Christ Light and have no fear.”

4. Fear seems to have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. A promising career as a pianist was brought to an end through my extreme nervousness and lack of confidence, and other talents equally as promising have suffered because of an overpowering fear. What am I to do?

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thank you for your letter of November 26th relative to mine of the 17th.

In some of your recent literature I note mention is made of the fact that you are booked two years ahead. This is quite wonderful and I am most happy for you, but I am also a trifle disappointed in that I wanted my mother to have a health reading and two years or more to wait is such a long time. I had hoped to make such a reading one of her 1943 Christmas gifts. Is there no likelihood of an earlier reading time?

About my life reading of this December 14th. In your letter of the 26th you suggest I send you a list of questions. At the time of my application for the reading, I sent in the most pertinent questions dealing with the subject and I assume you have them on file. If not, let me know immediately and I shall send them again. The only added questions I can think of that have arisen since my reading time was set are the following:

If the questions I have asked do not answer this question I should like it answered: Should I seek a more or less immediate change of employment? If so, when, where and to whom?

Is there a likelihood of my ever being reclassified and taken into the Armed forces? If so, what phase of the service and when?

I am enclosing two air mails and a Special Delivery stamp for which I shall be grateful if you will use to dispatch my reading as soon as it is ready for the mail.

I am eagerly looking forward to my Life reading and consider it a great privilege to have you read for me, and I have no doubt that I shall benefit for your great work.
