This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3539], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, Michigan.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - nice man!

3. We have the body here, [3539].

4. As we find, there are disturbances that must be corrected; else the body will find greater disturbances later on that may become very serious.

5. These have to do with the eliminations and assimilation, and the effect being produced upon organs of the central circulation and the nervous system of same.

6. Then, these are conditions as we find them with this body:

7. In the activities through the body, through first cold, congestion, a catarrhal condition has formed about the gall duct and liver. This has prevented proper flow of the secretions that aid in assimilating fats, especially, and proteins, and such things. This has gradually put a strain on the body, with the poor eliminations, until we have at times extreme neuritic conditions through various portions of the body; at times in hands, in shoulders, but the more severe in the pains through the chest. These are still neuritic. For these are affecting the pleura of the lung itself, from poisons or toxic conditions around the aorta artery.

8. The thrombus area at times becomes too full. This is not necessarily a heart disturbance but may easily become so.

9. The nerve forces are pressed upon by the fullness of the lymph circulation and the lack of coordinating this with general eliminations. Hence we find periods of bad taste in the mouth, stiffness in fingers, a sadness about the face, bags under the eyes. The kidneys give a disturbance, burning sensation with the bladder, aching through the feet, shoulders, head and lower limbs, eyes and body.

10. These are conditions as we find them with this body.

11. In making corrections we would first have a series of hydrotherapy treatments, including each week a very slow and very low Dry Heat Cabinet Bath, not ever raising the temperature too high - for it would be dangerous for the body. Let the body just begin to be moist, and then have a Fume Bath - in the same Cabinet, you see, turning off the lights and using about half a teaspoonful of sweet oil and a whole teaspoonful of witchhazel in the pint of boiling water, so that these fumes settle over the body.

12. Then have a thorough rubdown, after a needle shower - hot and cold, or the body being wrapped in a hot blanket when coming out of the Fume Bath. Have a good massage using a combination of two ounces of Olive Oil and a quarter ounce of Lanolin (liquefied). This should be over chest, under arms, around the neck, along the back, across the diaphragm especially, and the abdominal areas - not too much pressure, but a good kneading of the body.

13. We would have at least six of these hydrotherapy treatments.

14. Then begin with good osteopathic adjustments, giving special reference to the 5th and 6th dorsal and throughout the sacral area. The 3rd cervical also should be partially adjusted, not at each treatment - but a relaxing treatment one time, an adjustment the next. Have five or six of these.

15. Then empty the gall duct osteopathically.

16. Of course, with the hydrotherapy treatments, during those periods that these are taken, have two colonics - one in the beginning and one toward the end of the series of treatments.

17. Do these and we will have better conditions.

19. (Q) Should I discontinue the shots? (A) You’d better, if you don’t want to get too much of these and cause a heart stroke here!

20. (Q) Am I correct in this assumption that my condition is definitely improving? (A) From what?

21. (Q) (If smoking is not particularly harmful to the extent that I indulge) Is it best that I smoke a pipe or cigarettes? (A) Smoking in moderation for this body would be helpful. To excess it’s very harmful. The smoking of cigarettes is better than most types.

22. (Q) Is it unwise for me to do light outdoor work like gardening? (A) No, it’s not unwise - but DO have these corrections made before you do very much of such, else you may have serious results.

I delayed acknowledging receipt of the reading, Mr. Cayce, until I had the opportunity to start the treatment prescribed.

I believe, now that I have put my faith in the hands of very competent people to carry out the treatment as shown in my reading exactly, I already show considerable improvement in my condition and you can appreciate that it was a relief to me to know that my trouble was not due to an organic heart condition but to other disturbances which can be easily and quickly corrected.

I appreciate very much, your setting the time for my reading in advance and I will keep you informed of my condition in going through the treatment recommended.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Owing to the fact that the writer is afflicted with a heart disease, the nature of which seems to vary in the opinions of various doctors, I was very much interested in an article on your strange powers occurring in the recent issue of CORONET Magazine.

It occurred to me that you might possibly diagnose my condition and advise me the proper treatment. I would appreciate you taking the case into consideration and if you wish I will be glad to send you more details necessary of my condition together with any payment desired for your services.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I have received your last letter and I am very much pleased to know that in view of the emergency of my case that you can advance an appointment for reading. I am, therefore, enclosing herewith your application from your booklet and in view of late developments, of my condition would appreciate a reading at the earliest possible time.

Therefore, if you will advise me the date, preferably in the afternoon, of the reading, which I understand will be between 3 and 4 P.M. Eastern War Time, I will be at my home, … I will follow your commands in every way, not only in the attitude during the reading, but will faithfully carry out your instructions, whatever they may be.

My physician seems to lay great stress and I feel correctly so, on my digestion. The most important question I have is to know if the pains in my chest are from an infection of the heart or simply a digestive disturbance. The question in my physician’s mind is whether I have a single coronary infection or double coronary infection.

My present treatment has been shots for a biochemical correction of my system and my question is to know if this treatment is beneficial and it is continuously contributing to the cure of my heart condition if I am so afflicted.

I have been an inveterate smoker for 40 years. However, I have for the past year reduced my smoking considerably. Is light smoking harmful to my condition and makes cure impossible? My only other question is whether my heart condition is such that it would be unsafe for me to do outdoor light exercising, such as light work in the garden.

I will await your further advice, Mr. Cayce, in anticipation of an early reading, having the utmost confidence that you can be of material benefit to me.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thanks very much, Mr. Cayce, for your special attention to my reading, which you advise me is to be given the morning of January 6, 1944, 10:30 to 11:30 E.W.T.

At that hour I will be at my home, … and should you have any further instructions than already given for my cooperation with you, I will be very glad indeed to carry these out.

The questions that I desire to ask are as follows.

Is the pain in my chest from an infection of the heart or from a digestive disturbance?

Are the pains in my left arm and hand and the lameness due to my heart condition or is this rheumatic condition?

If the coronary arteries are affected is this a single coronary infection or a double coronary infection?

Is the present treatment I am taking, shots for bio-chemical correction of my system, beneficial and will the continuance of this contribute to the cure of my condition?

For the past three weeks I have not had any pains in my chest as formerly, leading me to believe that my present treatment is helping and my condition is definitely improving. Am I correct in this assumption?

Are my kidneys functioning properly and is my previous kidney trouble a contributing factor to my present condition?
