[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.) Harmon Bro.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:45 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, New York.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3540].
-
As we find, there are such disturbances that it will require that there be those administrations which would bring some ease to the body, while administrations are being carried on that may be of real building and constructive influences in the body. These in the form of sedatives or narcotics would only add to the disturbances.
-
Then, as we find, we would use cobra venom - only under the direction of a physician. This would necessarily, under the existent conditions, have to be tested first, as to how much and how often it may be administered. For the body, under the existent conditions, and with that which has been given, will respond - but in rather an unusual manner. But this will keep down pain. It will not enable the body to use the muscular forces of arms or limbs any better, for the time being. For these are the result of chemical conditions in the body-physical, and are karmic conditions of the entity.
-
Then we would begin with the use of the Wet Cell Appliance carrying alternately Gold, Camphor and Atomidine.
-
The Appliance would be attached each day for thirty minutes, one day using the Gold Solution (one grain Chloride of Gold Sodium to each ounce of distilled water - and use at least three ounces), the next day using Spirits of Camphor (commercial strength) and the next day Atomidine (one ounce in two ounces of distilled water).
-
Each day the large plate would be attached at the umbilical and lacteal duct center, which for this body would be the width of three fingers from the navel center to the right and one finger up from that point.
-
When using the Gold Solution, the small plate would be attached to the 9th dorsal.
-
The next day when using the Camphor, the small plate would be attached to the second dorsal vertebrae.
-
The third day, when using the Atomidine, the small plate would be attached to the lumbar axis - or 4th lumbar.
-
Alternate the attachments in this manner.
-
After the Appliance has been used for one month, and the charging solution is renewed, increase the amounts of the ingredients for the charging solution; that is, to the gallon and a half of distilled water, add:
Copper Sulphate…2 pounds, Sulfuric Acid C.P…1 1/4 ounces, Zinc…3 drams, Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound.
But use the regular charge in the beginning.
-
Keep these up for at least six to eight months.
-
Each day following the use of the Appliance, massage the body with this combination of oils, adding these in the order named:
Olive Oil…8 ounces, Peanut Oil…1 ounce, Kerosene…1 ounce, Oil of Pine Needles…1 ounce, Pine Oil…1 ounce, Lanolin (liquefied)…1/2 ounce, Oil of Sassafras Root…1/2 ounce.
Shake these together. They will foam, by the kerosene being in the solution, but pour a small quantity into an open container - as a saucer. Do not pour any back into the bottle, but use this. Begin at the toes, massaging the bursa of the feet, the heel, the ankle, the calf of the leg, the lower portion up the outer edge especially of hips, around these to the area of the lower dorsals and the lumbars. Then massage either side of the spine to the 11th and 12th dorsal. Then massage the abdominal area, especially across the diaphragm, up then on either side to the head and neck. Do this consistently. Take at least twenty to thirty minutes to give this massage, and do this each day following the use of the Appliance.
-
Then give the cobra venom injections to keep down pain. Whether it is every other day or at times every day, will depend upon the responses to these applications.
-
In the diet keep those things easily assimilated.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there hope that she can be less helpless than she is now? (A) There is much hope, if the applications suggested are applied.
-
(Q) What was the cause of her trouble? (A) The chemical conditions as combined with or result from karmic reactions.
-
(Q) Is the calcium of the bones leaving the body, or what? (A) No - this is an irritation of the bone structure, or the covering of the bone.
Do these things as indicated.
The diet should be of those things easily assimilated; not too much of solid foods, but rather semi-solids and liquids.
-
(Q) Should any administrations now being given be discontinued? (A) Do one or the other. Don’t try to do both.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/16/44 Son’s letter: “I have received a Psychic Reading given by Mr. Cayce on January 6, 1944. A Wet Cell Appliance is mentioned & the last paragraph of yours mentions an ‘insert explaining the theory of this Appliance’ - however, such insert was not enclosed. I would therefore ask if you will forward such article to me.
“I would also like to ask you where I might be able to procure the Atomidine and the Chloride of Gold Sodium referred to. Could you also tell me the meaning of the word ‘Karmic’, mentioned in the Reading?
“Please accept my thanks for the hope you hold out for my mother, & be assured of my gratitude for your help in this matter…”
Background
Background
B1. 9/14/43 Daughter’s letter: “I read of the wonderful things you have done, in a recent article in the magazine ‘Coronet’ with which article you are undoubtedly familiar.
“This magazine article will, no doubt, bring many requests for your help on behalf of the sick and the ailing, with consequent big inroads upon your time. I mention this latter fact because I too, am in need of your help, and although you undoubtedly have had other appeals by now, my problem is pressing, since it is complicated by the fact that time is an important factor in its solution. Because the amount of your fee is not mentioned, I can not enclose same, but will be glad to send a check as soon as I hear from you.
“My mother, [3540] has been bedridden for about 4 years now with an illness that baffles the abilities of all physicians to diagnose. They have given up hope of effecting a cure and are unable to stop the progress of this condition, or even to afford her relief from her pain, except through the use of narcotics. The last few physicians have given her up, and state it is only a question of a short time until her demise. However, because of her desire to live, she has twice fooled her doctors in this respect; and I feel that if you can afford her some hope of even partial relief, through your wonderful gift, she will again feel that life is worth living.
“We have done all that medical science can think of, and feel that the seemingly unorthodox, or the unexplainable will perhaps take up where science has failed and afford some relief to one who has led a God fearing life and would like to enjoy in peace the company of her family in her few remaining years.
“Once again, hoping you can be of some assistance and begging you for an early reply, I am…
“P.S. My mother’s address is…”
B2. 1/1/44 Son’s letter: “On December 6, 1943, you wrote me advising that my mother, Mrs. [3540] could have a Reading on January 6, 1944 at 4:30 P.M.
“Her exact address is …, N.Y. and the questions you asked for, are as follows:
- Can anything be done to ease her pain?
- Can you see any improvement in view for her?
- Can you see any hope that she will at some time be less helpless than she is now?
- Have you any suggestions for her treatment? Either diet, medication or both?
- The doctors say that her bones have become brittle due to causes unknown to them. Can you furnish any hint as to the cause?
- The doctors say that the calcium which is leaving her bones is not leaving her body. Can you shed any light on this?
“I have refrained from asking any more questions, as I feel that anything else will merely resolve itself back into the query ‘Can you help my mother?’ and I think that any information you might be able to furnish on the above questions will be of help.
“Hoping you can be of service to my mother…”
