GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3582].
-
As we find, many conditions - physical, mental and spiritual - are good with this body.
-
There are tendencies and inclinations which if they were taken cognizance of in the present there might be prevented disturbances later on. These have to do with the assimilating and eliminating systems, and these are conditions as we find in the present:
-
In the blood supply - while there are only periods when there are variations, we find there is the tendency towards heaviness through the abdominal area, at times shortness of breath when there are undue exercises or when there are variations as to activities bringing any great mental excitement.
-
These leave drosses in the body that are affecting primarily the circulation between the liver and kidneys, and it may vary the activities of the heart, lungs, liver and kidneys.
-
Thus we would give these:
-
First, not a particular diet, but an exercise and the taking of certain conditions to change those relationships of the activity of the gastric flow in the hypogastric and pneumogastric areas.
-
Hence we would take four times each day, about thirty minutes before each meal and before retiring, three ounces of grape juice in one ounce of plain water (not carbonated). Take this regularly for about four weeks at a time. Then leave off for two weeks and repeat.
-
Throughout the period we would have regularly, at least once each week, a full hydrotherapy treatment. This should include a cabinet sweat, not too high nor heavy but partially the dry heat sweat and partially the Fume Bath using witchhazel. This would be followed by a good, thorough massage with particular reference along the spine to those areas in the 9th and 6th dorsal centers.
-
These will tend to make for a bit of reduction in the weight of the body and will make for a much better activity through the limbs and through the lower portion of the spinal areas.
-
In the diet keep well balanced; not too much sugars nor pastries nor starches. Be mindful of the combinations taken. White bread should seldom be a part of the diet. Spaghetti and cheese should seldom be a part of the diet. Red meats not too often but just occasionally. Beware of white potatoes. The yolk of eggs may be taken but not the white of the egg.
-
If we will do these things, we will find better conditions for this body, [3582].
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this reading.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
It was my happiness and privilege today to meet your friend, Mr. David Kahn, through a mutual business friend, Mr. Carl Schacknow. I had the privilege of having my woman osteopath doctor [Dr. Daisy Fletcher], into whose hands I placed myself last February, join us for luncheon. We were spellbound listening to the wonderful gifts that are yours.
I must confess that the knowledge of these gifts is not new or strange to me. I happen to be a Roman Catholic, a daily Communicant. That will give you an idea of how seriously I take my religion. It is because of that knowledge that I have such an appreciation of spiritual gifts of all kinds. I was delighted to hear that Mr. Sugrue, the author who handled the book magnificently, is also a Roman Catholic. I have written Mr. Sugrue today. I wanted him to know how splendidly I think he has written the book. I have already bought fifteen copies, and believe I will arrange with the publishing company to buy them in quantity for distribution. In every book store from which I have ordered them, I have taken the trouble to tell them about the book, so that they in turn will be enthusiastic and can spread the word.
I have always been a believer in the unfoldment of God’s plan; at least I learned it through the teachings of my church at the age of seven, and my life, as a result, has been fairly easy, although I must admit that I have worked very hard during all my life, but happy work is never difficult.
As I read the book, I must confess I suffered with you and your dear wife as I lived over your trials with you, but I was always conscious that neither of you suffered in the spirit. A few exterior failures were just stepping-stones to bigger and greater work.
I know you have much to listen to, and I hate to burden you with all the things that I would like to say, but find words fail me to express them.
When you have the opportunity, I wish you would give me a life reading as well as a health reading. I am Miss [3582], born January 30, 1892 in New York City, and have lived here all my life. I would also like to have the double readings for my sister, Miss [3575], born February 11, 1900 in New York City. I am enclosing you an offering for same, which includes the four readings and a double membership for both my sister and myself.
Awaiting your message in due time, I am
Most gratefully yours, [3582]

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Acknowledging your letter of January 3rd, please note that [3582] will be at her residence, …, New York City, Apt. …, on January 19th, for a reading from 10:30 to 11:30 in the morning, and from 3:30 to 4:30 in the afternoon. On January 20th, [3575] will be at the same residence at the same times.
I believe that we would prefer to have you give us a reading as it comes through, without any influence on our part, and we will be satisfied with whatever the outcome is. We happen to be two healthy, over-worked human beings with the usual let-down at this time of our lives, from over-work. We would be very happy to have the readings as they come through to you, and look forward with great interest and reverence toward them.
With kindest wishes, I am
Sincerely yours, [3582]
