GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. As we find here, there is poor coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous system. Thus we have periods of very high emotional reactions. These cause a great deal of distress, so that the body may almost at any time take on the feeling of a disturbance that he may be acquainted with or even hear of. In the areas of the coccyx, in the 9th dorsal and in the 3rd cervical specifically, this incoordination exists.
-
At least once a week we would have a perfect relaxation and a Swedish massage. This would include a Fume Bath or Sweat Cabinet in which the body would inhale all of the steam; not very long but so that there are the reactions and the expanding of the whole lung area. This would be followed by a good massage. This should be a sweat as in a steam room, and not just a Fume Bath.
-
Then twice each week have an osteopathic relaxation; not so much a stimulating but a relaxing. There will be corrections needed in the coccyx end of spine, in the 9th dorsal and in the 3rd cervical. Of course, relax the 1st and 3rd cervical, but the corrections should be in the areas indicated. Take time to give these treatments, relaxing the body thoroughly.
-
Take internally about twice each week a teaspoonful of Acigest in a full glass of raw milk. Stir it thoroughly and take it at the evening meal, say on Tuesdays and Fridays.
-
Once each week, say possibly on Wednesday or in the middle of the week’s treatment, eat a whole wheat cracker - at the noon meal - thinly spread with Calcios.
-
Do these and we will make better conditions with this body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is the pain around heart organic or functional? Remedy? (A) Purely functional; rather sympathetic. That’s why in taking the sweats there should not be the staying in the steam too long, or the breathing of the steam into the lungs, especially at first. But have the whole body in the steam, including the head (and not the head sticking out of the Sweat Cabinet) - only a few minutes in the beginning.
-
(Q) What causes hands and feet to easily become numb? (A) This is the slowed circulation. That’s why we should have both the Swedish massage and adjustments to stimulate circulation, while the properties internally are to increase the ability of digestion and make for better distribution of blood supply.
-
(Q) Why does every minor problem confronted by body bring forth pounding heart, quickened pulse, trembling voice, etc.? (A) As indicated, the lack of coordination between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system. Do these things indicated and we will find better conditions. Be persistent and consistent.
In the diet keep well balanced, but include often raw vegetables of all natures preparing same with gelatin often. Have some of these every day; lettuce, celery, water cress, all characters of raw vegetables that may be taken; not necessarily all at once but some of these each day. They may be taken with oil or with salad dressing or prepared in the gelatin.
Do that.
- We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up

Gentlemen:
Sometime ago I received a reading from Mr. Cayce. I wish to report a tremendous improvement although I was unable to follow the instructions to a T due to moving around a great deal.
I am now settled in Chicago and thought you might be able to give me the name and address of some Osteopathic physician who has cooperated in one of your experiments in the past. I’ve been unable to find one who will follow Mr. Cayce’s directions as outlined. Each wishes to use electrical appliances and heat pads claiming that it would accomplish the same ends.
I’ve shown too much improvement to take a chance on slipping back, and would appreciate it very much if you could help me out.
Later I wish to write you a long letter to make a statement covering my experiences in full while following Mr. Cayce’s direction.
Appreciatively yours, [3595]

Gentlemen:
Thanks to the work of Mr. Cayce I have conquered the “Lions of Christian” which have had me enslaved, cowed, beaten, and whipped for about three years. The English language does not contain words to properly express the change in feeling that one experiences when the changes from a slave to his emotions, into a master of himself. I join the many thousands who hope and pray for Mr. Cayce’s quick recovery and continued good health, so that this valuable work of his may continue. It must go on. I enclose $10.00 to use toward the building fund or for whatever purpose you think it will be the most helpful. It is a small sum as I am at present not working, but I wish to keep in touch with the Association so that when I return to work I wish to contribute some to this work, as I feel that money could never be spent to a better advantage. It does not represent one ten thousands of even the commercial value received from Mr. Cayce’s reading, and the spiritual value and joy of again living could never be expressed in monetary terms. God bless Mr. Cayce. Please accept this letter as the nearest I can come to expressing heart-felt gratitude and appreciation for the help I’ve received from your organization - keep the good work up.
Sincerely yours, [3595]

Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Sir:
A few days ago I read an article in CORONET concerning you an your work, and I must admit that it is with much skepticism that I am now writing you.
In the article I was reading it was not made exactly plain as to whether a person could obtain a reading by mail or whether it was necessary to appear in person. If necessary for one to be there I would appreciate an appointment at the earliest possible time.
I broke down with an extreme nervous condition some time back and have been unable to over-come my difficulty. It got so bad that at times I felt that suicide would be an easy and only way out. From this nervousness I developed an itch that stubbornly resisted medication for months. Many kindred ailments come along at different times and in the course of events arthritis developed and now strong symptoms of heart trouble. I mention these because I feel that they are all inter-related. Could you help a person in this condition who has been unable to really enjoy many minutes of life during the last two years. I feel at times like a person who is going to jump completely outside himself - if you know what I mean. This fear complex has reached the stage where I can’t even hold a conversation with everyday acquaintances. There must be some place in this world that I can fit in to enjoy a happy and healthful existence. From this letter you may feel that I’m in need of the services of a mental institution and to be perfectly frank I think that is where I’ll soon be if things continue as they are much longer. I cannot understand how a person with fairly good education can go along normally for 37 years and then suddenly lose all control over himself, his feelings and actions.
Anything you can do to get me back on the right track will be greatly appreciated and I’m willing to pay any reasonable fee.
Hoping to hear from you soon, I am
Very truly yours, [3595]
B2. 1/9/44 Questions submitted:
- What medicine, course of study, or method of living do you suggest for body to get control of his emotions?
- Is the pain around heart - which has been absent lately organic or functional? Remedy?
- What causes hands and feet to become numb or “go to sleep” at the slightest provocation?
- Why does every minor issue confronted by body bring forth same reactions inside - pounding heart, quickened pulse, trembling voice etc. - that one would expect only from major issues?
- What causes difficult breathing conditions?
