This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3601], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.) Harmon Bro.]
In log house on cattle Time of Reading ranch, one mile off … 4:10 to 4:15 P.M. Eastern War Time. Hwy., 6 mi. from …, WY.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Come back here and sit down!
-
Yes. As we find here, there are disturbances. Little can be meted out as helpful influences here. For this is a type of disturbance in the epidermis that is the result of karmic forces. And unless other things can be done about it - there will be material aid if the spiritual life of the entity is changed.
-
And then baths in water such as in French Lick would be most beneficial. Mud baths taken in the waters there also would be helpful, or those in other areas. And even in the environs of the entity in the present, in fact on the same ranch where the entity is - in the log house - where there are elders in the north portion of that area where there is the water hole, or the drain, or where the cattle gather. Use this mud as Packs along the spine, along the neck - the whole spinal area and the frontal portion of the body, just about the heart area - and we will bring better conditions, if the attitude is also changed.
-
Do this only if the entity applies the spiritual forces first, else there will be little help for the body - for there must be a usefulness in that sought to be accomplished.
-
Ready for questions.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/18/44 [3601]‘s letter: “Regarding your reading of January 26, 1944, and your suggestions for the treatment by mud baths for the skin condition, we are unable to get any information regarding the preparation and application. If you have this information and it is practical to apply this at home we would like to try it. Due to the great distance from here to French Lick Springs in Indiana and the difficulty of travel due to the war, we do not know whether we would be able to get there or not.”
R2. 3/27/44 EC’s letter: “I don’t know, but I believe these properties are prepared to be sent to individuals who are not able to go to French Lick. I think if you would write to the Chamber of Commerce they will give you the name of someone there who will send it to you. Of course, we are not in touch with these people and if you don’t find this true, or if it is impractical for you to take the suggestions that were indicated, I would like to give a check reading and find out just what would be the best manner for you to use the information as was given you. Hoping that we may yet be the means of a real service.”
R3. 4/23/46 [3601]‘s wife’s letter: “In going through some letters I have just found this leaflet that was sent to my husband, who was to have had a reading before Mr. Cayce’s death. We are so sorry that he couldn’t continue his work as his was such a wonderful gift. If we have anything coming, I would like to say ‘keep it’ but we are having quite a struggle paying doctor and hospital bills since in May we return to Denver for my husband’s fifteenth operation - all in the last five years, and I know you will understand. I have the book There Is A River, which I reread from time to time and find most helpful. Thank you for any consideration we may receive.” [Only $20.00 had been received which was for the first physical reading.]
R4. 12/5/47 [3601]‘s wife’s letter: “He is planning in the next few weeks, if possible, to go to Soap Lake in Washington State for mud baths and the advice your father gave. We are praying that it will help as he has gradually been getting worse. Now has pockets (a kind of hernia - according to Mayo’s) in the throat where foods lodge and which causes him much trouble, but Mayo’s did not think surgery would help. It is not malignant. The skin condition has gotten worse and his eyes bother almost constantly. I hope your work of filing cases and information is progressing in fine shape.”
R5. 12/23/47 HLC’s letter to [3601]‘s wife: “I have gotten out your husband’s correspondence and reading and I am wondering if you can give us a report on the information. I note that in the opening of the reading (4:10 EWT), he said, ‘Come back here and sit down.’ When your husband got the reading, do you remember whether he moved around during that period? It’s just an interesting clairvoyant check on the accuracy of the information. Of course, you must allow for the difference in your time with EWT. According to my figuring, this would have been approximately three or four hours difference, depending on whether you were on war time there also.
“I also notice in the reading that he suggested mud packs from mud taken from the water hole or the drain where the cattle gather where there are elders in the north portion of the area in which the log house is located. Were you able to locate this area and did you try these packs? Also, the reading emphasized need for a spiritual awakening as the condition is karmic. This means it has been brought over from a past incarnation. Are you familiar with this terminology and do you understand just what is meant here? We will be glad to send you further literature on this as a change in his mental attitude is apparently the key to any progress which he can make.”
R6. 1/16/48 [3601]‘s wife’s letter to HLC: “I was much interested in your wondering about the part of the reading ‘Come back here and sit down’, for at the time your father gave the reading - we have a small water power plant here and we were looking after it at that time and my husband had said he must go and see if everything was going alright - he hadn’t gotten settled for the reading, at the exact time given. So when the reading came I knew that was what Mr. Cayce meant.
“My husband did not take the mud baths as suggested here, for in his weakened condition it would have been impossible and as we are 100 miles from the nearest doctor and our very livelihood depended on us looking after our business here, he could not get away for treatments. We have a mineral Hot Springs at …, Wyo. but no mud baths. He has in mind going to Soap Lake, Washington in February (no mud baths there, either) if he can leave here.
“I think I understand the Karmic condition. I do not, of course, know how much his spiritual outlook has or could change. I do know his whole life has been in doing for others. His father died when he was 13. He supported his mother and three sisters - one of which had T.B. for 20 years and who died after we were married. He also has helped (willingly) my family - my mother being ill of cancer and dying this spring. Has also helped my sister. He is impatient with those who shirk or are dishonest or disloyal and it seems this last seven years that he has been so ill and yet kept things going that it has been by super-human effort. You will notice in the reading that he says ‘Where there are elders in the north portion.’ I thought he meant my mother who was bedfast in the north room of the log house, but I guess he meant trees. I do not know whether we have elder trees here or not. Am not familiar with them. I hope this information has been of some use to you and that you are progressing with your work and plans there.”

B1. 8/23/43 [3601]‘s wife’s letter: “I have just now finished reading the article in Coronet and can’t begin to tell you how grateful I would be if you could give a reading for my husband… For the last three years he had a queer disease that no doctor knows anything about. The skin keeps growing or slacking on his face, neck and body. He has had two plastic surgery operations one just last winter and the skin is again growing slack. The doctors say they do not know what causes it or what to do for it and since there are only very few cases in the world, there evidently has been no research. We have been to Mayo’s twice but without success. It causes him great mental agony for old friends do not know him and it has been hard for him in all ways. Truly it would be a miracle could you find the answer through this power that has been given you.” [GD’s note: She enclosed a picture of him.]
B2. 11/18/43 [3601]‘s letter: “I am enclosing a snap-shot showing my present skin condition, the following questions we would like answered: What causes this loose skin condition? Can it be cured? If not cured can it be checked? Would you advise plastic surgery again? Is it this condition that affects my eyes? What treatment would you advise? If research Doctors will take this case what suggestions would you make to them? I will advise you later my exact location.”
B3. 1/7/44 [3601]‘s wife’s letter: “Should your diagnosis show there is no hope and that conditions are bad, please do not send us that information as I am caring for an invalid mother and we have all been under severe nerve strain. I feel I can carry on better should we not know. There will be parts of the reading, at least, that you could likely mention - as to rest and diet, if the remainder of the diagnosis should be too disappointing. I’m hoping and praying for the best, though, and believe with God’s help we shall get results.”
