This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 29th day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [3625], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by the article in Coronet.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. (Notes read to and transcribed by Jeanette Fitch.) Harmon Bro.]
In the Clinic Bldg, Time of Reading County Sanatorium, 11:15 to 11:25 A. M. Eastern War Time. San Jose, California.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. As we find, the infectious forces through the tubercular condition in the lung and the effect at present upon the liver and the heart, with kidneys, are the greater disturbances to be reckoned with.
-
The fluid indicated in the left lung need not be drawn off - won’t be much use for it unless other things change, at least.
-
As we find, here it would be well to have administered, in a capsule these liquids:
Oil of Eucalyptus…1 minim, Compound Tincture of Benzoin…2 minims, Morphine…1/80 grain.
-
Take this internally. If it is necessary after the second or third day, repeat the capsule. This must necessarily be given under the direction of a physician, and if he won’t give it, it’ll just be too bad for the physician, as well as the body!
-
Also inhale the fumes from pure apple brandy (redistilled) prepared in a charred oak keg and kept close to the heat so that evaporation takes place. In a gallon and a half to two gallon keg, put half a gallon of the apple brandy. In the beginning take only one or two whiffs or inhalations. No brandy is to be taken, only the gases that form from the evaporation.
-
When there have been some reactions from this, begin taking internally, at least twice each week - at the noon meal - a whole wheat cracker spread thinly with Calcios. This is to supply calcium for the system, and the lactic juices are such that there is little or no digestions, which is causing the liver and kidneys to be upset and thus the strain on the heart.
-
Also begin then taking at least four days each week, at the evening meal, a teaspoonful of Acigest in raw milk. If possible, have this fresh from the cow with the animal heat still in same, but it should be a tested cow.
-
In the foods have all the Beef Juice that may be assimilated, all the fish and fowl that may be taken well cooked - but not any of it fried, and all of such foods that are blood and body building.
-
Thus we will bring help for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this reading.

Mr. [3625], …, California, has just wired us to get in touch with you if possible and ask you to send him right away 1 bottle of Acigest and 1 jar of Calcios. Please do this right away, C.O.D., if you have not already received the order from him. He also asked that we find out if your address had changed.
Hoping this reaches you and that nothing is preventing you from carrying on your good work with these products, I am Sincerely, GD
R6. 5/18/44 GD’s letter to [3625]:
Mr. [3625] …, Calif.
Dear Mr. [3625]
Your last wire came this morning giving your street address. I immediately wrote Mr. A. A. Nichoson ordering the Acigest and Calcios for you and hope that you will soon receive it. So far as I know the address is the same.
In regard to your other wire received yesterday, it seems there has been some mix-up somewhere. We find that we have been sending the monthly Bulletin to Miss [5320], …, California, and we can find no correspondence or anything indicating WHY this is the case. We must have misplaced some of your letters, as the last communication we can find pertaining to your case was a wire received from Mrs. […] dated February 7th, which my Secretary answered (in my absence) suggesting that you get in touch with Dr. Ketchum of Palo Alto.
However, I find that we have you credited on January 22nd with $10 for a Check Reading. Did we give you an appointment for that? If so, undoubtedly that is where the missing correspondence is - in the folder bearing the date of your appointment, but on your membership card we do not find that appointment listed (as it should be, if you were given another appointment). So, will you please let us know if you already have an appointment and what the date is? You request in your wire that we change it for a Life Reading. Just in case you do not already have an appointment, though, we are giving you a tentative date for the Life Reading, which is October 28th, between 10:30 and 11:30 A.M., EWT.
Under separate cover I am sending to you the Bulletins and Weekly Papers since January. If you wish to change your Associate Membership to an Active Membership, please fill out the enclosed Active application and return for our files. Of course, if you wish the Life Reading instead of the Check Reading, the
10 you have already paid will be used for that; whereas, if you do not become an Active Member, you will owe us only10 more. In other words, as your account now stands you have a $10 credit. Please let us know by return mail if you have an earlier appointment, or any appointment that we have given you. Since some of your correspondence seems to be missing, it makes me feel that we must have given you another date and filed your letter in that folder, without listing it on your card.
I certainly trust that you are improving steadily and I feel you must be if you are considering the Life Reading instead of a Check Physical.
Sincerely, [by GD] EC:GD
R7. 10/3/44 GD’s letter to [3625]:
Mr. [3625] …, Calif.
Dear Mr. [3625]
Due to Mr. Cayce’s continued illness we are unable to get your reading on October 28th, 1944. In considerations for his health, Mr. Cayce will not return to work for some months. For this reason we are unable to offer you another appointment at this time. If you still wish to have a reading, let us hear from you in six to eight months, at which time your request will be given its proper consideration, in light of your previous contact with us.
In view of the above, we are returning your membership fee in the amount of $10.00. If you again apply for a reading, do not send the membership fee until three weeks before your appointment date.
It is our hope that you will keep in touch with us through subscribing to our Monthly Bulletin, which carries news of the Association activities and extracts from readings, or our Weekly Letter, which consists solely of extracts from the readings. We will send you either of these for six dollars a year or both for twelve dollars a year.
Financial aid through gifts, whether small or large, constitutes a fund which makes it possible for us to carry on the research work, so that we may develop our publications in order to help all who are not fortunate enough to have their individual reading.
Appreciating your interest and hoping that we may soon hear from you in regard to some phase of our Publications and Research Program, I am Sincerely [signed] Gladys Davis, Secretary ASS’N FOR RESEARCH AND ENLIGHTENMENT, INC.
The above manner of taking care of our correspondence is necessary in order to meet the financial needs for the present. Since we cannot offer you another appointment for your life reading at this time, we are returning your credit of $10.00. Please notice corrected prices on enclosure for Bulletin and Weekly Letter.
R8. 10/31/56 GD’s note: He wrote for current data re. A.R.E.
R9. 7/29/64 He wired: “Please air mail suggestion information for acute leukemia - adult - female. Also copy of my reading - 1942. Please bill me.”
R10. 5/25/72 He became current Sponsoring Member of A.R.E.

B1. 10/3/43 [3625]‘s letter:
County Sanatorium, San Jose, Calif.
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
My dear Mr. Cayce:-
My sister, Miss […], wired you on Sept. 23rd, and dated the 27th, we have your wire asking that we write to you. The writer is a recent tuberculosis case, having recently been admitted to this Sanatorium. Since tuberculosis is a disease, where the Doctors who specialize on it admit that each individual is a separate problem, and since its treatment is not an exact science, I am very anxious to receive your advice as soon as I can get it. There are decisions that I must make very soon regarding method of treatment, and I would therefore like to have an opinion from you soon. In the article in Coronet it states that your charge is very reasonable, therefore should be within my reach. Will you kindly answer me by Air Mail (I enclose 6 cents in stamps) stating if there is any additional information you want from me, and stating the amount of money I should forward to you, and how soon I can obtain your decision.
Thanking you for an immediate reply by air mail, I am,
Yours very truly, [3625]
B2. 1/19/44 [3625]‘s letter:
County Sanatorium, San Joss, Calif.
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
I am enclosing $10 for a check reading at an early date, and in future I will want to become an active member.
Answering your letter of October 30th; on January 29th at 7:30 to 8:30 our time, I will be at the County Sanatorium, about two miles from San Jose, California.
The specific questions which I would like to have answered are as follows:-
- What surgical procedure, if any, or what other method of treatment do you recommend for me?
- Will I be able to do this same work that I have done in the past?
- How long will it be before I will again be able to do useful work, and what nature of work do you recommend for me?
- Will I obtain a complete cure of my disease?
- Is the disease active now and in what parts of my body?
- Am I afflicted with any other diseases besides Tuberculosis?
These questions are my questions, and I refer you to another letter that is enclosed in this envelope.
Yours very truly, [3625]
P.S. Being more specific as to where I will be from 7:30 to 8:30 A.M. on January 29th, I will isolate myself in a separate room in the clinic building, which is a part of the Sanatorium, connected with it by a raised concrete walk, but it is a part of the Sanatorium.
B3. 1/19/44 County Sanatorium, San Jose, Calif.
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
The Doctor in charge here is a good man and conservative. Though skeptical, he is willing to be guided by your recommendations if they seem at all logical.
He has recommended that the following questions be sent to you, for his satisfaction. In order not to confuse you, I am listing them in a separate letter, as follows:-
- Which lung?
- How bad?
- Is there fluid?
- What type of surgical procedure would be best?
- Is there any active T/B or other disease elsewhere in my body?
- What are the sputum findings?
- Describe all marking or scars on my body and why they are there.
- How many operations have I had, and what were they and at what age did they occur.
- Can I take a pneumo?
- Describe the room I am in during this reading?
To many of the above questions, the Doctor already has the answer, but he is just testing you. You may or may not wish to answer some of all of these questions, but this is of secondary importance to me. My own questions are in the other letter.
Thanking you in advance for charting a course that will lead me back to health, I am,
Yours very truly, [3625]
