This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 1st day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3640], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Born July 13, 1916, in Garfield, N.J. Time of Reading 4:20 to 4:40 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.J.

1. GC: You will give the relations of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life, also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the records here of that entity now known as or called [3640].

3. In giving the interpretation of the records here, these we would choose from same with the desire that this be a helpful experience for the entity.

4. We would minimize the faults, we would magnify the virtues. For we have many of each. And the greater injunction may be: don’t think more highly of yourself than you ought to think. To be sure, so live in thine own life that you can look all in the face and tell them where to go (that is very warm), but be sure ye know what has prompted those activities. For as indicated in thy abilities to attract the opposite sex - for what purpose is it? That ye may aid them or that they may contribute to your vanity? Think well on these things.

5. For the giver of all good and perfect gifts has not endowed thee with attractiveness to be misused. To be sure, molasses draws flies - but it makes an awful mess if they get mixed up! So with the entity. A crude illustration, but very apt in thine own experience.

6. In giving the urges latent and manifested in the entity’s abilities, we find Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn. There are abilities, then, in the high mental nature; especially in that ability as a writer. Could you write yellow stories! These are well, provided they are constructive in their purpose, in their story, in their activity. And as an editor for “My Own Story” or “My Own Life” or such activities, the entity might excel. But if done merely to attain fame or fortune it would be destructive in the final analysis, unless the attraction of the opposite sex as well as of the own sex were for creative or spiritual ideals.

7. Then in short, here is an individual with abilities to become a real power or force for good in the earth, who has lost the vision of the spirituality necessary to make the associations or the whole life the success it deserves.

8. The entity need never be mindful of not having a great deal of this world’s goods. But what is it to gain the whole world and lose thine own soul? What will a person give in exchange for its soul?

9. As to the appearances in the earth, all may not be indicated here, yet these indicate the abilities in the entity:

10. Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, among the early settlers who aided in the trapping of animals through the areas of Jersey, New York and portions of Pennsylvania, when and where a great fortune for somebody else was built up.

11. The entity kept records, made contacts with individuals, made contacts with various groups because of its personality, because of its ability to control or to influence others easily.

12. And this is a part of the personality of the entity in the present. The entity used it but not too wisely. For it brought material things but little spiritual and mental satisfaction when it grew old.

13. Well that the entity apply, then, those abilities that are latent which were gained through consistent consideration of others and not of self alone.

14. The name then was Rahl Engel.

15. Before that the entity was in the Holy Land when there had been the edifying of the peoples in the outer areas of Palestine. From Thyatira the entity came, hearing of the healings and of the Master’s activities through portions of the land.

16. With some of its own household the entity then came to Galilee that there might be a healing from a possession, and the entity ever gave thanks for the manner in which the Master indicated His interest in others, their sorrows, their joys, their uprisings, their littleness and their abilities to appreciate.

17. Then the entity in the present may learn first of all the meaning of appreciation of the blessings, the opportunities that are given thee in thy present environs, thy present surroundings. The one healed in thy association then is the one ye need to heal in the present, thine own companion whom ye have rejected! Find him! Save him, and in same save thyself! If you don’t, you’ll be sorry!

18. The name then was Therha.

19. Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land when there were those preparations for individuals through the Temple Beautiful to be as emissaries in the varied lands.

20. Then entity was among those prepared for the land now known as Algeirs, or the east coast then of that land.

21. Then the entity; was one given to record keeping, a technician. And the entity may apply itself in the present, as it did then, in the writing of stories, in writing of the happenings of others so that they might be applied in the experience of those whom the entity would teach.

22. There are many stories that may be written by the entity, not only of itself but of ideas and ideals. Apply self in that direction if ye would attain, gain and maintain thy hope of the hereafter, peace in the present and in the thought of self. Be good - not merely be good, but be good for something - to others.

24. (Q) I have an opportunity to go into business about which I am undecided - should I take it? (A) Either go in the marrying business and marry your husband all over again, or in the writing business - or you may be able to do both - if you want to be in those outlines and directions that will bring the greater harmony into the life.

R1. 1/26/44 [3640]‘s letter to EC: “I don’t wish to seem impatient, but as I haven’t received my reading which occurred Jan. 1st, I can’t help feeling that you have neglected me a little. It is because I have so much faith that I am so overanxious to receive it. I am fully aware of today’s difficulties and hope that it is only that reason which is delaying it. May I please hear from you shortly?”

R2. 1/27/44 EC’s letter to [3640]: “We are just trying to do more than we are able to handle as quickly as those who have the information would like. I hope you have gotten the information by now and are able to use the suggestions indicated to an advantage.”

B1. 11/13/43 Letter from [3640] to EC: “The life reading of [3640], I shall try to come to Virginia Beach in person for. If this is impossible I will send you question and the additional $20.00 before that date. I enjoyed your lecture at New York very much, and hope I shall have the opportunity of seeing you either at Virginia Beach or New York.”

B2. 11/17/43 Physical Reading was given for her grandmother, [3366].

B3. 11/19/43 [3640] letter to EC: “I am particularly interested in the following questions pertaining to my life. For what type of work am I best suited, that I can be most successful? Have I any talent for anything? I have known a young man for the past year and a half - is he the right person for me? Recently I have met another young man in whom I am very interested. Will anything materialize from this brief acquaintance? Must I remain under the jurisdiction of my former husband insofar as my son [3537] is concerned or can I live my life as I see fit with my son, and not be constantly annoyed? I have an opportunity of going into business. Although this enterprise would be quite profitable, I am very undecided because the nature of this business is not what I’ve wanted. Perhaps I have asked too many questions, Mr. Cayce, but I assure you each and every one are quite important to me.”

B5. 11/22/43 P.M. Reading attempted: EC: “Been some changes here we don’t find this here - not by this name.”

B6. 11/23/43 EC’s letter to [3640]: “There seemed to be some confusion about the name given at birth. I don’t know just what this is, but will you please let us have the full name given at birth, place of birth, and date and hour if possible.”

B7. 11/28/43 [3640]‘s letter to EC: “Received your letter and am sorry that this delay occurred. I understand what you mean about the difficulty about my name. My name is registered in the Hungarian language, which is [3640], which translated means … Therefore my full name, as it was given at birth, is [3640]. I hope this clears up the situation, and the date of 1/1/44 at 3:30 to 4:30 P.M., is quite satisfactory. Thanking you most sincerely for the help which you have given me and for enlightening the troubles of my loved ones.”

[Additional questions presented]: “If I ever remarry will my former husband interfere the way he does now? My former husband wants me to remarry him. Is this a wise thing to do? I was offered a position unlike anything I’ve ever done. I am a little hesitant about it, should I consider it? Anything else you have to advise me on, will be greatly appreciated.”
