This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 16th day of February, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3658], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc., via husband, Mr. [3155].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3658].

3. As we find, there are disturbances preventing the better physical functioning of the body. These are rather specific in their nature, though the effects and the drains on the nervous system upset other portions of the functioning organism.

4. Then, these are the conditions as we find them with this body-physical:

5. The blood supplies indicate that through nerve conditions, there is often inflammation in the tissue, the lymphatic tissue of throat, bronchi, larynx and in the nasal passages. These are rather reflex, however, for we find that the greater disturbance has arisen as the result of improper consideration given the body at the birth of a child, and how the body was torn. These areas corrected, we may find better conditions for the body.

6. For here we find there are those conditions between the vagina and the rectal area, where the wall was almost obliterated in two places. This has caused the infection whenever there has been the lack of proper precaution as to eliminations, when because of the type of stool, the area becomes irritated by the fecal forces.

7. Hence a great deal of anxiety is caused, as well as a great deal of inflammation.

8. As we find, these may be materially aided if there would be used the Elliott machine as a treatment for the rectal trouble. This will through the heat, cause circulation to be such as to gradually replace tissue and thus make for better conditions in the body where operative measures have been performed to correct conditions.

9. These treatments should be taken at least every other day for a period of about three weeks. During the menstrual period, of course, it would be best to leave these off, and then after a rest of a week to ten days, begin again, taking for a period of three weeks, resting again, and then having the third series. This should be sufficient.

10. Then it will be necessary to use the violet ray in the vaginal area, using the vaginal tube. This will aid in correcting through this same area the conditions existent there, causing a better activity to the organs of the pelvis and adding to the general conditions of the body. These treatments may be taken by self if the hand machine is used, which would be satisfactory. Do not turn the light on too strong in the beginning, or at any time in fact, but at the very first, it should be quite low. Do not treat more than half a minute in the beginning. This, too, would be taken about three times each week for three weeks, left off then for six weeks, and then taken again. Do not use the violet ray for the vaginal area, however, until after the rectal area has been relieved through the use of the hot water treatment in the Elliott machine.

11. In the diet do keep to those things that are alkaline in their reaction. Do not take citrus fruits and cereals of any character during the same meal. Rather alternate these from day to day. Do not take white bread. Preferably use corn bread and rye bread for this body. The yellow corn meal for the body is the better.

12. Do not take cheese and macaroni very often, for this body.

13. Do these, keeping up the eliminations but use alternately a mineral and a vegetable laxative. One of the best laxatives for this body would be Syrup of Caroid or the Papaya juice. This done, we will find better conditions.

14. Ready for questions.

15. (Q) Is there something I lack in tissue building for healing this condition? (A) Nothing that will not be supplied through the two applications indicated. This comes from lack of proper precaution in the resulting effects from scar tissue.

16. (Q) Since surgery about six years ago, I have had no normal marital orgasm - what has caused this, and what can be done to correct this condition? (A) We find that there will be better conditions in these directions after the use of the violet ray vaginal applicator.

17. (Q) What is causing the intense pain in the upper back? (A) General nerve reactions to the body - fear.

18. (Q) What is causing the condition in the ears, please suggest relief measures? (A) The soft tissue in neck and throat, and these should be removed as the flow of circulation, is altered by the various types of treatments given, and better eliminations set up.

19. (Q) Will this eventually affect my hearing? (A) It would if allowed to remain.

Do as has been indicated.

Dear Mr. Cayce,

With regard your health reading of my wife, Mrs. [3658], on February 16, 1944 and your suggestion of seeing Dr. Daniel Shorell, 8 East 64th Street, New York City, I visited Dr. Shorell to make an appointment.

I found to my surprise that at first he seemed very vague about his knowledge of you and then said that he met you in New York several years ago and recounted that at that time he had offered to take you to patients of his in hospitals if you would indicate in each case their general physical trouble but that you had never taken him up on the proposition. He said that did not prove anything against you but gave me the impression of no longer being interested in your work if he ever had been. He said he thought your technique was based on self-hypnosis, perhaps sincere, but self-hypnosis nevertheless.

When I related very briefly my wife’s major problem, the vaginal fistula, he promptly suggested surgery and recommended a Dr. Ricci in the Gotham Hospital Building, New York City.

He said further that the only type of work he was doing now was plastic surgery. From the girls and women waiting in his deluxe offices with bandages on their noses I gathered the impression that a substantial part of his work was changing Jewish nose shapes to Gentile ones.

I have not seen his Dr. Ricci nor done anything further to date on the matter.

If you have any comments on above or further suggestions I shall be glad to have them.

Dear Mr. […]

I have your letter of the 16th and note what you have to say about Dr. Shorell and his treatment of you when you went to see him.

I believe Dr. Shorell can give you the address of someone who will apply the treatments as were suggested as he was associated with the organization who perfected the apparatus that was suggested to be used in the treatments. Whether he gives these treatments, I don’t know, however I am sure there are plenty of them there that will give them, because there are machines throughout the country. If you will approach him, I am sure he will give you someone else other than the surgery.

I hope you will be able to get this and I am sure you will get real results if you can find someone to carry it out for you.

I wish to thank you for referring several patients to me recently. While I greatly appreciate your having made many referrals over the years, I must tell you that I no longer do ear, nose and throat work and have no Elliot machines.

I was under the impression that I notified you some years ago that, from that time on, my practice would be confined to Plastic Surgery, but apparently you never received this notification.

At the moment, I do not know of anyone who uses the Elliot treatment so that I am not able to refer inquirers to another doctor.

I trust that when you are next in New York you will give me a ring and that we may be able to take luncheon together.

B1. 8/16/43 Remarks by husband: “She has two physical problems, neither of which are apparent because she seems so well and active. The first is a vaginal fistula brought on by the breech-birth of our daughter 14 yrs. ago. It was operated on about 7 yrs. ago but has broken again. What would be done for this? Second, she has had severe pains at times in her upper back. One doctor recommended either surgery at Johns Hopkins or a cast for 6 months. An osteopath has helped some but the trouble recurs periodically.”

B2. 2/1/44 [3658]‘s ltr. to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce,

You have set the time for my health reading for Wednesday, February 16, 1944, between 10:30 and 11:30 A.M., E.S.T. I shall be in an attitude of attention and meditation at that hour at my home, …, New York.

I trust that you may ask general questions regarding my life and health and particularly the following:

1. I have a rectal-vaginal fistula as the result of childbirth particularly from our daughter, […] birth on July 23, 1929 which was a breech birth, though also in part from our son […] birth on February 9, 1928. Twice surgery has failed to repair this. I constantly fear renewed infection from this fistula. On one occasion an infection was serious. Is there something I lack in tissue building for healing or what? Also, since the repair surgery about six years ago I have had no normal marital orgasm. Is there any suggestion for this?

2. In the past two years I have had intense pain in the upper back. This comes in the early morning hours and lasts until late morning and is severe. One doctor suggested surgery of the spine at Johns Hopkins, another sleeping on a flat board and another osteopathy. I have tried osteopathy and it helped and the recurrence has been less frequent.

3. In both ears I have what has been diagnosed as eczema. Is there any remedy or cure? Will it eventually affect my hearing?

I shall be grateful for the answers to these questions and any other word that may come.
