Time of Reading 4:20 to 4:25 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Washington.

1. GD: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes - a hopeless invalid.

3. As we find, there can only be for this body, those administrations that will be as palliatives for the body. The conditions through the pelvis, the pelvic organs have reached those stages such that any physical corrective measures would be useless.

4. There can be those administrations that will relieve the great pain - if there will be the use of the Animated Ash - 1/8 grain every other day, and ten minutes afterward applying the violet ray over the area of the sacral and lumbar. These will bring some ease to the body.

5. The rest - keep what has been and is being administered.

6. We are through with this reading.

R1. 3/14/57 Son wrote: “Early in 1944 I sent to the late Edgar Cayce for a tr. for my mother, Dr. [3668], who was practising dentistry here in …Wn. at the time. Mr. Cayce wrote us within a very short time and said that there was no hope of curing my mother of her malady, that she would be released only at death. He went on to say that all that remained for us to do was to make her as comfortable as possible, and to see that she suffered as little as possible. He included some charcoal pills, [Animated Ash] I believe they were made from bamboo.

“I may not be helping your records a great deal with this account, but I feel I should tell you: that outside of these charcoal pills [Animated Ash] my mother took no other sedation until the day of her death in October of 1944 (10/19/44), when she died of cancer - a cancer that was fastened at one end to the spine and at the other end to the head of the spleen. She did take a few Aspirin now and then, but I believe the pills Mr. Cayce sent [Animated Ash] kept her as comfortable as could be possible with such an agonizing killer of a disease.

“In the interim, we have read every book concerning Edgar Cayce we could lay our hands on, including THERE IS A RIVER and MYSTERY MAN OF MIRACLES.”

R2. 7/5/72 Son’s wife wrote that “In 1970 my husband, Dr. [3668]‘s son, passed on too. This January our only child passed on of cancer very like that of her grandmother.

“I have followed much of the Cayce teachings throughout the years and am a part of a vital metaphysical group that does much the same for its students.

“I would appreciate it very much if Miss […] could be allowed to read the records on my mother-in-law’s reading, for me. It will help me ‘close the records’ to my own recent life with two precious people.”

B1. 11/15/43 Son’s ltr.: “Mother was operated upon several yrs. ago for a supposed cancer of the uterus - the entire uterus was removed. But the pains came back, and she dragged on for another 2 yrs., over-working, attending to her own patients (she is a dentist), taking on more work than her strength would allow, because she didn’t want others to suffer. Then she had another operation, for an internal hernia, and when it was over, that hadn’t helped either. Now, further x-rays have been taken, and they say that, not cancer, but a hardening of the intestinal aorta, the main blood vessel of the body, is what is causing her extreme pain. So I feel that they are still floundering around in the dark as to her condition.”
