GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3680].
-
As we find, there are disturbances that have been longstanding with this body. These are reflexes from the position of the coccyx area. That this has not caused greater spasmodic reaction to the brain is because of the position of same, but a lesion in the area of the lacteal duct and gall duct has upset body assimilation. Thus the body is kept with a form of anemia that at times, especially when there are those cycles of reaction to sympathetic and cerebrospinal nerves - especially in the areas of the coccyx, gives a great deal of distress through the gall duct and lacteal area.
-
These, as we find, are the sources of the disturbances at present with this body, though these have been of longstanding.
-
First, we would begin with heavy Glyco-Thymoline Packs over the Gall duct and lacteal duct area or the whole area from low on the right side - that is, close to the spine - across even the spleen area. Soak heavy toweling in the Glyco-Thymoline and apply, use an electric pad to keep sufficiently warm for absorption, for at least an hour each day for five days in succession. After the five days take internally at least two teaspoonsful of Peanut Oil or Usoline or Russian White Oil.
-
Then have the next day a high colonic irrigation to cleanse the whole colon area.
-
After a rest period of three days from all applications, then repeat the whole procedure - first the Glyco-Thymoline Packs, then the oil internally, followed by the colonic irrigation.
-
Then have the correcting osteopathically of the vertebra or segments of the coccyx area, and then break up the lesions that will have been so acted upon as to be easily changed. Massage the area of the gall duct, lacteal duct and the upper portion of the abdomen.
-
Do keep to the liquids and semi-liquids through these periods of correction.
-
After a month to two months, it may be necessary to repeat the whole treatment; but we should in these manners correct these conditions entirely.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) To what foods am I allergic? (A) It is not so much the foods, as the condition of the assimilation. It is the fats and the oils that the body is allergic to. So, take no fried foods. Fish, fowl or lamb may be taken, but no red meats. Do not take any of the foods fried.
-
(Q) Is an operation advised? (A) We haven’t given it, have we?
Do these things, if we would bring better conditions.
Do make the corrections in the lacteal duct and gall duct area, first that is, by the local applications suggested. Then osteopathically correct the segments in the coccyx and break up the lesions in the lacteal duct and gall duct area. Thus we will get rid of these pains at the base of brain at periods, when the body becomes so nauseated.
- We are through with this reading.
Two copies to Self (one for the osteopath - Please let us have the name and address of the one you choose.)
(See directions [which were enclosed] for preparing Glyco-Thymoline Packs.)

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/8/44 [3680]‘s letter to Miss Wirsing:
My dear Miss Wirsing,
I am sorry that I have not been able to make a report on my case as yet as I am having some difficulty in finding the right kind of an osteopath who will co-operate. The one I had in mind in my neighboring town will not give the packs as directed and was not anxious to do the correction. So I am looking about in Ann Arbor for help. As soon as I get started on the treatments I will keep you informed.
Will you please tell Mr. Cayce that the morning of my appointment - February 19th I distinctly felt the presence of Mr. Cayce. I had fallen into a doze after a period of study and concentration and was suddenly aware of a trembling all over my body. A cold chill lasting several seconds was unmistakable at the time the reading was given according to the report I later received. This fact made me realize that the soul (or mind?) can certainly leave the body as Mr. Cayce demonstrated so clearly. What a vista opens up when we realize such a possibility! I have never been a church-goer nor a student of the Bible but have been deeply interested in the East Indian philosophy which makes karma and reincarnation plausible. I am glad to be associated with a group that are not “go-getters” as we find in many a so-called religious sect. In your organization we find service stressed and Christian Brotherhood. This strongly appeals to me. I hope to be able to pay a visit to this association during the coming convention if travel is possible. Will you kindly let me know how I stand financially in your records? My sister who made out the money order says she sent thirty dollars and I have the P.O. stub to that amount. I would appreciate your setting me straight on this. Will you thank Mr. Cayce for me, for his reading? The spinal lesion is a fact and the reading is correct tho he did not mention the gall bladder which is perfectly useless and evidently diseased. As soon as I get results from the treatments suggested I will report to you. Thanking you for the bulletin and hoping to meet the members and Mr. Cayce before long, I remain
Most Sincerely [3680]
R2. 4/23/44 [3680]‘s letter to EC:
My dear Mr. Cayce,
I want to report to you on the progress of my case knowing that you have the welfare of each one of your patients at heart. I had some difficulty in getting started but finally managed to dovetail the treatments between the two neighboring towns. My osteopathic physician is a splendid practitioner and liberal-minded man.
He, however, gave me the short wave treatments instead of the glyco-thymoline packs as he said they are more penetrating. He read the directions carefully and approved of your directions! He is now reading the book “There is a River” with great interest and is clearly puzzled over such wonderful powers as you have. As for my progress, I feel a great deal better and tho I frequently have a sick headache, each attack is quite mild and inconveniences me for a couple of days. This is unusual. I hope in time that they may vanish altogether. My digestion is not very good but that may strengthen in time.
I think I wrote you in my last letter that when you came to see me for a diagnosis, I had unmistakable feeling - that is that mentally. I did not sense your presence but my body registered it so clearly. I noted the time and it corresponded with the time given later in the report from your secretary. I am so much interested in the work and the society built upon it that I shall make every effort to come to the convention in June and hope to meet you personally. I am lending the book right and left so that people my have a deeper insight into the wonders of our universe. That you are able to leave your body and travel thru time and space as if it did not exist is an eye-opener to the possibilities of the human spirit and impressed me as much as any sermon or revelation. So much follow from such a demonstration and the whole world opens up into a grand plan almost unbelievable. I am truly grateful to you for this revelation and for your help. I shall hope to remain in touch with your work.
Believe me to be very sincerely and gratefully yours, [3680]
Dr. L. A. Griswold South Lyon, Michigan is my physician
R3. 4/29/44 EC’s letter to Mrs. [3680]:
Dear Mrs. [3680]:
Thanks for yours of the 23rd, with the report on your reading.
I am certainly happy to know that you are feeling better. It is quite interesting what you tell me about having the feeling of my presence at the time of the reading. This has occurred many, many times. One of the most definite times of this kind was where two people in different time zones had the experience of the presence at the time the reading was given.
Do hope that it will be possible for you to be with us at the Congress from the 18th to 25th of June. Better write now for reservations though. Here are some names of hotels.
Essex House (close by); Gay Manor (quite a ways from place of Congress); Pinewood Hotel (within walking distance); Princess Anne Hotel (not within walking distance).
Hope that we have the pleasure of meeting you in person in June.
With every good wish, I remain
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC/gm
R4. 5/19/44 [3680]‘s letter to Miss Wirsing:
My dear Miss Wirsing,
My sister and I had planned to attend the convention of A.R.E. Society and have written to a number of places suggested by Mr. Cayce but we have received no answer except from one which stated that the hotel was entirely booked up for the season. May I trouble you further to suggest some private places like boarding houses, rooms to rent or tourists’ accommodations that may have a vacancy - two rooms or perhaps the Y.W.C.A? If we can’t get rooms we cannot come. I wonder how it is that so many people are able to go on a season’s vacation and have so much money to spend in these war times and those of us who have a very good aim in mind have to fore-go the pleasure.
Something truly rotten in the State of Denmark. I shall be grateful for any help you can send this way and thank you.
Sincerely, [3680]
R5. 5/23/44 EC’s letter to Mrs. [3680];
Dear Mrs. [3680]:
I have yours of the 19th and I hope that it will be possible for you and your sister to attend the Congress.
I would suggest that you write Miss Lillian Barclay, Virginia Beach, the Courtney Terrace and Tourist Haven. I may have given you these before, but these are the ones that are close enough to make it easy for you to come to our place. Miss Barclay’s is a private home and the other two are large hotels. I am sure the Essex House has already promised their rooms to many of those coming to the Congress. At the Tourist Haven you can get most any type of accommodation you want. They have quite a large hotel and about seventy-five cottages. Where one or two are together it makes it quite reasonable.
Thanking you and hoping we may see you both at the Congress, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC/wi
R6. 7/30/51 Physical Reading Questionnaire from [3680]:
Note: Please give name and address of any physicians who helped you carry out your reading. (Use reverse side, or additional sheet, if required.)
Q. Please give technical name of ailment. (This is needed for indexing and compilation of similar cases.) A. [No response]
Did you ever find it possible to carry out the reading just as it was outlined? Did you find it possible to have the Glyco-Thymoline Packs that were indicated? Did your digestion improve? Was the coccyx correction made? How many series of treatments were taken? Do you feel that the spinal lesions were broken up? Is your condition - near normal now? We have your reports through 4/23/44, and we are extremely anxious to bring your case-report up-to-date.
Please list any items that you feel have a bearing on the information given in your reading and how it may have helped you physically, mentally and spiritually.
[3680]‘s written response:
I was so placed that the recommended treatments were not possible. I went thru the clinic of the University of Michigan and was there advised to have an operation. The gall duct was removed and I felt immensely benefited for a few weeks. Then the attacks recurred more often. Later I went back to the clinic for examination and I was then told that the operation had not been necessary and was given medication which is helpful but not curative. Mr. Cayce wrote me on my inquiry that I should not have an operation. He was right.
Background
Background
B1. 2/5/44 Letter: “Since early childhood I have been subject to severe bilious attacks with severe headache, nausea, and have at such times not eaten anything nor drunk a drop of any liquid. Usually it takes 2 days to recover from such a spell. These are more frequent in winter. I become very yellow and have a general stoppage of digestion and elimination before the attack. I cannot eat eggs nor fats nor drink milk and generally avoid such sweets such as chocolate. At all times I have contraction of the muscles in my legs and feet and in the sciatic nerve, causing spasms in those muscles, particularly when lying down or when very tired. My circulation is poor in the extremities, especially. When any pressure is applied to my fingers - as in trimming grapes or in handling any implement - my thumb, index and middle finger become numb. I have a spot on my big toe (left) which has no feeling whatever at any time. I sleep very poorly; and for long periods sleep about every other night. My normal weight is 118-120 lbs but I weigh 90 lbs. now. My skin has lately become very wrinkled. X-rays show no gallstones now, tho the first X-rays showed them plainly. The gall bladder does not function. It does not even take a stain when given the test. My decline seems to be rapid and for that reason, an early operation was recommended. I am not depressed and still feel peppy, even when not eating. Hospital tests show no other disease. I eat an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables.”
- To what foods am I allergic?
- Is an operation advised?
- What causes the inactivity of the gall bladder?
