GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. As we find, there are disturbing conditions. These are the effects where the lack of vital energies in the body has allowed under strain, leakage - as it were - in the vein and arterial circulation. This has not as yet caused a lesion in brain. Thus there is not as yet the permanent lack of control of the locomotory nerve centers and reflexes; though in the wrist, in the back, yea partially in the whole of the left side there is partial paresis.
-
We would add to the system those vital energies of excess body-building and body-resistance foods.
-
Keep a very well balanced diet and when practical even roast beef and potatoes would be well.
-
At least three times a week, or every other day, give the body a gentle massage using cocoa butter. Do this neuropathically commencing in the area of the 1st cervical, massaging downward - away from the brain, even to the lumbar and sacral areas; more upon each side of the spine, or along the area of the sympathetic nerve system, rather than on the spine itself. Then massage over the centers along the frontal portion of the body, in the glandular forces or lymph and emunctory centers; pubic area, the naval center, the solar plexus center, the area just below the collar bone and around the point of the collar bone.
-
Thus, with the type of foods changed, consistently, we should gradually change the body-forces to a replenishing and gain the use again of the muscular forces, so that those that should normally be voluntary may again become voluntary, and be used - thus preventing the thinning of the walls of the circulation that has been a part of the disorder with this body, as to cause these disturbances.
-
Do That.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this reading.

R1. 2/26/44 Wife’s letter to EC:
Association for Enlightenment - Research
Dear Mr. Cayce
Mr. [3693] joins me in extending thanks to you for your promptness in sending the results of your reading. As you may well know that Mr. [3693] being so idle he waited entirely for your help. In fact he has dwelt on it since early fall.
He has done nothing but rest and I have tried to give him a balanced diet for the past three years. His only and supreme worry has been that he would not recover from this illness. Would you say from your reading that we could be optimistic about this fact - that he would get well. He of course has failed or more correctly I should say has aged in the past few months but his physical health and mind seem very normal considering every thing. He has become very unsteady on his feet.
If we are entitled to any more of your help and you can assure us more on these points would be very appreciative for your continued help. Will be glad to carry on with the massaging and hope that it will be the correct answer. Know that it will quiet his nerves.
Sincerely yours, Mrs. […]

B1. 12/6/43 (Monday) [3693]‘s wife’s letter to EC:
Assoc. for Research-Enlightenment, Inc.
Dear Sir -
Today received booklet on the Life and Work of Mr. Edgar Cayce. Was prepared to join your association for the help that Mr. Cayce might extend to Mr. [3693] except that a letter received the latter part of November stated that a reading was impossible before a year, due to commitments already made, on the part of Mr. Cayce. Would say that Mr. [3693] has suffered untold pain almost three years due, the physician say to a thrombosis in the wrist. He has been mentally down for at least two of these years and a wait of another one would be too much for him to endure. I think that he comes well within the emergency class and if you can in way set an earlier date know that he would be more than grateful. He is very determined about having a reading and has been ever since I read the article in Coronet to him. Seems to feel that Mr. Cayce can help him. Of course as you may well know that any thing that I can do will be done, otherwise I would bow to the decision that a reading at present is impossible.
Anxiously await a reply from your Association and a favorable one. Know that once Mr. [3693] was in a normally healthy state he would be more than interested in what you folks are doing. As it is our business and happiness are gradually being entirely wiped out and the doctors say only nature must take its course which is poor consolation after having had fourteen of them and no relief for him. Will be only too glad to forward check for membership if only he may be helped before his endurance gives out entirely and it is fast becoming so.
Sincerely and Gratefully Yours, Mrs. […]
B2. 1/4/44 [3693]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce
Dear Sir: In your letter of the 25th November you stated that you were filled up for a year. In view of the fact would say that I am in great pain and ask you if you will make a special case of me to receive me. As it is, I am about to the end of my rope and can not go on much longer.
Thanking you in advance
Very sincerely yours, [3693]
P.S. [wife’s]: Mr. [3693] has become obsessed with the idea that you can be of help to him and as his case has been so prolonged and he has been in pain for three years now thought that you might think of some way you could give him some encouragement in the near future. He got up to write the enclosed letter to you the first since he has been ill so you may see how earnest he is about what you might be able to do for him. Mrs. […]
B3. 1/24/44 Wife’s verification of appointment:
In the early part of March 1941, in the pursuance of his business and while removing a body from a home, Mr. [3693] was stricken with a partial paralysis on his left side. The physician who responded to our call, the best in the city diagnosed it as a thrombosis of the left wrist plus a cerebral hemorrhage of the brain. He promised a limited recovery with a residual condition which he hoped nature would repair, but said definitely that medical treatment would be of no use. Advised rest and diet. In about six months Mr. [3693] had another brain lesion. This did not recur but by this time the condition settled entirely in his left leg. This consisted of a tight painful feeling which seems to have worn his nerves, never too good, down to desperation. This I judge is the residual effect of the first attacks. In the face of all this we had twelve different type medical doctors who were 100 per cent agreed that nothing could be done. At the present time he looks fairly well, eats well, but his rest is broken at night, due I think to excessive cigarette smoking, and he takes very little interest in anything but his painful leg, neglecting to read or exercise both of which were prescribed for him.
Last summer while at the shore on a vacation I read him Mr. Cayce’s history as written in the Coronet magazine. Since that time he has been overly convinced that Mr. Cayce can show him the road to recovery.
Would say that his mental capacity is very good, showing I think that his injury is not irreparable and I join in believing that your efforts will help him.
Sincerely and gratefully yours, Mrs. […]
