GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes. As we find, conditions here are the result of karma as well as the abuse of self in the developing forces of the body. These have brought and do bring the spasmodic nerve reactions or the spasms when the brain becomes as the shock center, so that the body loses control of itself through the incoordination of the sympathetic and cerebrospinal system to activities or impulses through the body.
-
Under the present environs we find that not a great deal may be added. However, if there would be used the combination of bromides as may be found in Bromidia, as an allaying of the conditions for a period of a monthly cycle, and then the use of a hypnotic such as Luminal, the reactions may be better controlled.
-
These offer, as we find, only palliatives and not correctives for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) When should I stop taking the present medicines? (A) This depends upon whether there would be the attempt of those in charge to apply these suggestions indicated.
-
(Q) What has been the relation of the religious ecstasies that have seized me, to my health, and to the recovery from my ailment? (A) These are only reflexes and are portions of the imaginative forces as indicated from the karmic reactions. We find that these will be met only by the activities of prayer, meditation, and the application physically made - rather than the mental or emotional ecstasies - of just gentleness, kindness, patience, brotherly love; these applied, not preached, but applied daily.
-
We are through with this reading.

Background
B1. 11/24/43 Sister of [3700] wrote EC reminding him that in Oct. ‘43 he had told their mother that he would give [3700] a rdg. [free of charge]: “Our family will be eternally grateful to you for what you can do for this poor boy.”
B2. 1/14/44 Sister wrote: “We are sending you a list of questions concerning [3700] which he has written himself: ‘What is the cause of my sickness? How, what, can be done to remove it? What medicine, operation, treatment? When do I stop taking my present medicines? What relation are, were, these religious ecstasies that seized me, to me? to my health? to my recovery from my ailment?’
“He is still at the institution which I mentioned in a former letter.”
B3. 3/9/44 Sister wrote: “Every member of the family will be saying a prayer and hope that your rdg. will come to some exact conclusion which will enable him to set on the right road to recovery and so he will be able to get some happiness in life which he hasn’t been getting due to his illness which seems to be getting worse as the years go by.”
