GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
As we find there are disturbances in the physical forces of the body. These have to do primarily with senility; that is, impulse in the gray matter in nerve force is lacking. Thus gradually, unless measures are taken, there must come the softening of the brain cells so that the reflexes will gradually become less and less active for the flow of blood as well as impulse in the circulation through the central portion of brain cell - from the lyden (leydig) glands and the activity of the organs in the pelvic area.
-
For, as we see, in times back there was injury to the small area of the back, leaving a pressure in the area of the 11th and 12th dorsal. This has gradually hindered circulation of impulse through the body-forces.
-
There may be some relief, not cure entirely, but so that there is a staying, at least, of this disintegration of of reflexes in brain centers.
-
We would begin using the activative influence of the low Wet Cell Appliance carrying gold vibratorially into the system, in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold Sodium to each ounce of distilled water.
-
The charge for the Appliance would be about one-quarter stronger than ordinary; that is:
Copper Sulfate…2 pounds, Sulfuric Acid, C.P…1 1/4 ounces, Zinc…6 drams, Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound.
-
Attach the Appliance each day for thirty minutes and let this be the same time each day. The large plate, through which the Gold Solution passes vibratorially, would be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct center, which on this body will be the width of two fingers from the navel center towards the right and three fingers up from that point. The small plate would be attached at the 11th dorsal center, or between the 11th and 12 dorsal.
-
Do keep the attachment plates very clean. Do disconnect when not in use, connecting the Appliance at least twenty minutes before it is ready for use again.
-
Recharge the Appliance every thirty days. Change the Gold Solution every fifteen days.
-
Each day follow the Appliance treatment with a good, thorough massage with cocoa butter, in the area from between the shoulders to the end of the spine and particularly in the area of the 11th and 12 dorsal. Give this massage in a rotary motion on either side of the spinal column, not attempting to make an adjustment as yet. For this should come much later when reactions begin to set in - in about sixty to ninety days.
-
These will aid, if done consistently and persistently. They will not aid if just used spasmodically or unless they are used for a long period of time.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through with this reading.
Two copies to Wife (one for Dr. Beard who will be able to help you understand where the attachment plate should be applied and who will possibly be able to make the corrections needed after you have followed the Appliance treatments and massage for sixty to ninety days) Copy to Ass’n file ” ” Loose-leaf book in Library under case number Senility (brain softening)
(See extra sheet [which was enclosed] of directions to be sent to Mr. A. M. Godfrey, 2709 Lafayette Blvd., Norfolk, Va., for preparing the Wet Cell Appliance to be used in this individual case. Also article explaining theory of this Appliance.)

R1. 3/20/44 Wife’s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce. Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Edgar,
Was glad to hear from you this morning. Thank you so much for the Reading.
I have had [3701] to tell me long time ago - that he was riding a disk, and the seat broke off, and threw him backwards. I expect it has been coming on so long that there is little hopes of doing him any good now.
Hope your trip did you lots of good. Come to see us when you can.
Have been reading and studying all the literature you have sent me.
One who is interested in you.
R2. 3/25/44 EC’s letter to [3701]‘s wife:
Mrs. […] …, Kentucky
Dear Mrs. […]
Thank you for your letter of the 20th and for the enclosures.
I believe […] if you will give [3701] the suggested treatments, while you might not be able to bring him back to perfectly normal, I am sure you will be able to relieve him a great deal and possible he will gradually get better instead of worse. If the corrections are made, and with the use of the appliance, I am sure will bring real help. It will be a lot of work and a lot of trouble because when you have to do a thing every day at a certain time, it grows kinda monotonous and it isn’t a thing that you can do hap-hazardly. You will have to take a great deal of time and be very patient, but whenever these things have been suggested it certainly has brought help to 99 out of a 100.
Hoping for the very best, and with every good wish to you and [3701] and asking that you remember me to the rest of the family when you see any of them, I remain
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC/gm
R3. 6/12/51 Wife’s reply to Questionnaire:
Could you possible give us a report on your husband’s physical condition from the time his reading was given? Please do include anything of a physical nature on his condition, from that time until now.
[response]
I never gave my husband a treatment, as Cayce said he could not cure him. He said he might hold the trouble where it was. His was a metal [mental?] trouble and had been coming on for sometime. He passed away July the 30th, 1944.

Background
Background
B1. 10/17/43 Letter from [3701]‘s wife: “Mental trouble - unable to attend to business for several years - mind does not seem to register - can’t remember, gets in places & can’t remember or realize where he is & cannot get out without help - seems to do everything just backwards. Can’t stick to anything, can’t go or do anything unless I go with him - have to dress & undress him - tried to get glasses for him but could not - he could not concentrate - just does not know anyone at first sight. Dr. Stone & Dr. Dade have examined him - say he will never be any better but get worse as time passes. We carried him to a brain specialist in Nashville who said about the same thing. The picture is one of definite brain disease, probably the early senile or pre-senile variety. He gets nervous & restless especially in evening - he sleeps well at night unless he gets up about something - don’t want to put him in a hospital as long as I can care for him.”
B2. 1/14/44 Questions submitted:
- What has caused this condition?
- Can anything be done for him?
