This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of March, 1944, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3702], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:50 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern War Time. Washington, D.C.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3702].

3. As we find there are disturbing conditions which prevent the better normal functioning of the body. These are rather complex in their nature owing to the character of disturbances. We find that these arise from incoordination between cerebrospinal and sympathetic nervous systems. These are primarily the result of shocks to the nervous system and to the glandular reactions of the body, so that the areas where there may be said to be the larger patches of the emunctory circulation coordinating sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems are disconnected, as it were, with the central nervous system; in the 3rd cervical, 2nd, 3rd and 4th dorsal, 9th dorsal and through the lumbar and coccyx areas.

4. These are the sources of the disturbances.

5. These bring to the body in its mental reaction those periods when it becomes easily disturbed at little things, or unkind things or sarcastic things that may be said. This causes the nervous reactions that upset the body physically and mentally.

6. The sympathetic system and those areas of the upper dorsal work directly with the ability to keep the normal balance, so that the digestion becomes upset, there is lack of proper eliminations and thus poisons are thrown into the system. Reflexes in the areas of the 3rd cervical may cause insomnia, while the exaggerated distortion or ringing in the ears is indicated, or disturbance to the organs of the sensory system. At other times when there is relaxation from this incoordination in the lumbar-sacral areas, there is a bearing down or heaviness through the lower abdominal area, and the feet and limbs cause a great deal of distress.

7. These, as we find, are the disturbances here with this body.

8. In making better relaxations and bringing about bettered conditions for the body, we would - once each day for an hour upon retiring - have the Radio-Active Appliance as a part of the reactions. No vibration may be felt from these treatments, but if used properly, when ready to retire, it will be found to cause the body to rest - with the other applications which we will suggest. And the mental and the general nervous system needs rest more than anything else. Use this for an hour. Do take it off after it has been attached for an hour. Be sure that the same anode or connection is attached first each time, to the wrist and the other anode to the opposite ankle, and so on.

9. We would add also occasionally, at least once a week, the use of the short wave electrical treatment.

10. At least twice a week until six or eight are taken, have osteopathic adjustments, giving special reference to the areas indicated. These should not be too deep and should continue to be relaxing treatments rather than stimulating treatments.

11. Be mindful of the diet that there is plenty of body-building foods, with special reference to the B complex vitamins that should reinforce the diet. The general diet should consist of easily assimilated foods and those that cause regularity with eliminations, fruits and vegetables and nuts should be the principle diet, not necessarily all of it; but raw vegetables at least once each day should be the principle portion of a meal.

12. Do these and we will bring better conditions for the body.

14. (Q) Can you suggest a physician in Washington to administer these suggestions? (A) One in sympathy with the undertakings and who is a good osteopath.

R1. 4/6/50 To Vida Belk, worker on E.C.F. Campaign in Washington, D.C., from GD., just to keep the records straight:

Mrs. [3702] requested a Physical reading and sent $20 on 12/6/43. An appointment was made for 2/9/44 - which was an early appointment, considering that some were made a year in advance. On 2/4/44 EC wrote Mrs. [3702] telling her he was ill and had to take a rest, that he would get her reading on 3/20/44. A card from her on 2/7/44 expressed disappointment but that she would be looking forward to the reading on March 20th.

The Physical reading was obtained on 3/20/44 and mailed to her. No word have we had from her acknowledging the reading or anything since that date. She did NOT have an appointment for a Life Reading - and we only received the one $20 from her. No refund was due her, unless she did not receive the reading which was mailed to her on 3/20/44, in which case I’m sure she would have said so.

Too bad she is disgruntled, but her facts are a little askew.

Considering her attitude, do you think we should remove her name from our mailing list?

On the other hand, if our records are incorrect, we’d like to have proof from her. We don’t claim to be infallible, but our records do not show anything except the above information. If she has checks returned, or correspondence indicating a life reading appointment for which she had paid, we’d like to know it and reimburse her. However, it seems very improbable that all correspondence and data connected with it would be missing from our files. I won’t write her personally unless you advise it is well for me to do so.

R2. 4/9/50 Report by E.C.F. worker, Vida Belk: Thank you very much indeed for the Mrs. [3702] information, which arrived Friday. She phoned me yesterday to say she felt too ill to attend Lydia’s lecture, thus giving an excellent opportunity to ask her about her Life reading appointment. She then said she had misunderstood; had not sent more than the $20; but thought that that included both Life and Physical readings; had put into practice some of the advice given in the Physical reading and had been helped; that her mother had gotten the reading for her, she being too ill at that time to do anything for herself. She did not state the nature of her illness; I surmised, however, that it was a nervous ailment. I am enclosing for you the letter she wrote me after I sent her Mina’s and Margaret Trim’s phone numbers and addresses. She wants to come to see me to talk to me, but not with other persons, for I invited her to come next week, when my last prospect, Mrs. Keene, wants to come and talk. I asked Mrs. [3702] yesterday if she wanted her name taken off the mailing list; she said, oh, no, she liked to get things from you people. In view of the fact, however, that she puts in nothing, if you care to remove her name, that seems perfectly reasonable and right.

What your policy about such things is I don’t know, but it does seem that if people are uninterested in contributing at all to the upkeep of the A.R.E., the logical conclusion is that they don’t care about it, or the contact, and could very properly be taken off the mailing list.

R3. 6/11/51 PHYSICIAN’S Physical Reading Questionnaire:

Under the Edgar Cayce Foundation which was established in [word(s) missing?] are indexing and microfilming all of the 30,000 Edgar Cayce readings, complete with briefed correspondence preceding and reports following each reading. A case number instead of the name is used for all individuals who obtained readings. The case numbers are microfilmed numerically, the subject index cards show the case numbers, so that each case - or each subject - can be studied in a complete form and in its original setting.

Mrs. [3702] first came to me on Apr. 13, 1944. I always tried to follow Edgar Cayce’s instructions. There were lesions at the 3rd cervical - 2nd - 3rd - & 4th dorsal and 9th dorsal - lumbar & coccyx. She was very nervous & tense. Anaemic. 4/18/44 Bp. 84-150 Hemo 75% beat 72 no murmurs. On 2/18/46 Bp. 65-125 Hemo 65% beat 80. Her temperature was normal 98.6. The uterus was a little large but cervix & Os (?) were OK. She was thru with menstruation.

There was a right lower wisdom tooth to be extracted. The left turbinate was very large causing some trouble in breathing. Both feet were FLAT.

Mrs. [3702] was quite unhappy. Her home life upset all the time. She had a hard time financially to keep going. I told her to come and have her treatments, it was all right, things would change but when she got behind I didn’t see her any more. She needed help badly but I am afraid she didn’t see it thru for herself.

Mentally she was in great discord with her environment.

I do not know how much she took of the Radio-Active and Short Wave treatments.

I had her take B complex and something to build up her hemoglobin.

Physically she was much improved.
