EC: Yes, we have the body here. These we find very unsatisfactory conditions with the physical forces of the body, and the results are complications that are somewhat troublesome to cope with. The body has not responded to the attempt to bring about the better coordination throughout the system. The complications are the cause of this.
-
In meeting, then, the needs of the conditions as we find them, there will be better results obtained through a combination of conditions or vibrations being brought to the body at this time, than there would through solely the one condition attempting to bring changed conditions in that assimilated, for giving strength and vitality, or the reduction of that continued temperature and weakness as continues to be shown system, as well as to meet the needs wherein there is shown separating of forces in system. Hence other conditions arising in other portions than that which may be reached through possibly any ONE vibratory force (which must be the resuscitating forces - in ANY body, especially in this where such complications are exhibited).
-
We would, then, add with manipulations - that would be osteopathically given - deep every third treatment, and gently throughout the whole system with some corrections every day, until forces are changed in the body; giving these as properties as would bring about better vibratory forces with that set up by a general treatment: Golden Seal, or Life Everlasting, in the form of added to those of that that is being used as the reduction for temperature and added system reduction of the achey feelings that come from the poor circulation. This would be given in a tea that would be added to the water, as of one to twenty - that is, to one ounce of saturated solution add TWENTY OUNCES of water, or one drop to twenty drops of water, see? This added TO that being used in medicinal properties for the reduction of temperature and for the enlivenment of the excretory system. Also, with all the water that is taken, let it carry a very small quantity of elm. Do not prepare the elm until almost ready to drink, see? Should the assimilations become SO poor that this does not assimilate (which will be found by, or be known by the body belching same and tasting same after an hour or so after the water is taken), then leave off and change to that with Yellow Saffron in the water, which would be one to forty, and this a teaspoonful in glass of water when taken, see? This to be made in the tea, should be one ounce to forty ounces of water - steeped, or if as tea - until there is left fifteen to sixteen ounces of water, see? Then the teaspoonful in the glass of water. These will assist in bringing different conditions and different vibrations for the blood supply, activity of the liver and of the excretory systems - which are necessarily disturbed in the existent conditions. Do that. When these have been carried out for six to ten days, we would give further instructions. We are through for the present.

Philadelphia, Pa.,
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
The reading came this A.M., for which we are very thankful, altho we need a little help in interpreting same.
The druggist says that Powdered Hydrastis is the same thing as Life Everlasting and we wonder if you can tell us? Also, how do you prepare it, and how much should be taken?
Sorry to have to bother you with all this but couldn’t get it straight. The reading also says that a small amount of elm should be taken with all water. Does that mean a tea made of Slippery Elm bark?
My father-in-law is feeling better already. He had an osteopathic treatment today, and says that he feels better today, than he has for several weeks.
Am sorry, indeed, to have to bother you with these questions but do hope that you can enlighten us on same.
Application and check enclosed.
You certainly have been nice to take readings for us, when needed, and we do appreciate it very much.
With kindest regards to you and Mrs. Cayce.
Sincerely [1100]
R2. 10/10/28 EC’s letter to Mrs. [1100]:
Replying to yours of the 8th, regarding Hydrastis, Life Everlasting or Golden Seal, these I believe - as the doctor here tells me - are all the same thing. He says you can get Hydrastis in the liquid form, put up by Parke, Davis or any of the drug houses, and the dose should be, to begin with, about ten to fifteen drops three times a day. This may be increased a few drops (two or three) after four or five days. The slippery elm bark, as I understand from the reading, should be made each time the water is taken; that is, you get the elm bark in the powdered form, and just about a pinch between the thumb and forefinger is what you would put in a tumbler of water. Stir this up and drink it. As you will notice from the reading, if this is taken too much it might cause him to belch it. In that case you would reduce the times, or the number of doses of the elm water that he would take; but this, with the osteopathic treatments and adjustments, should have him feeling in first class shape soon. Certainly glad to know he is feeling better, and I’m in hopes you will be able to get these properties straightened out for him. You know I am only too glad to try to be of service whenever possible. We received the membership application and certainly hope he can be with you all when you come down on the 11th.
With kindest personal regards to you all, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R3. 10/24/28 Mrs. [1100]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:-
Am enclosing application and check for another reading for my father-in-law. He is feeling one hundred per cent better and looks so, too, but according to suggestions given, he wants the other reading.
You are very kind, indeed, Mr. Cayce to ask us down on Nov. 11th and I have not written sooner, thinking that maybe [3728] could see his way clear to come down, but at present, it is very doubtful, as to whether we can come or not.
