This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Phillips Hotel, Room 115, Dayton, Ohio, this 9th day of March, 1924, in accordance with [phone?] request made by daughter, Mrs. [1100].

1. EC: Now, while we find the body has the abnormal conditions, yet the condition as is set in the body at the present time is for the correction on those conditions, and they only need keep the vibrations as are being accorded the system throughout to bring again the normal forces for the body, correcting of source the condition for the changes as they arise in the physical body.

2. Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body, Mrs. [3770] we are speaking of. First:

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this has been impaired and the overtaxing of the eliminations to take care of the refuged forces as are being carried in the blood stream, and the organs functioning to overcome these conditions, we find have brought much distress to the system, both in the functioning of organs and in the effect that this overcharge has given the system, yet at the present time we find those eliminations are much improved, for the temperature in blood stream and in organs affected by the eliminating forces in system are nearer to their proper mode of elimination, sufficient to meet the needs of the body than has been in some time, and the elimination is affected by the temperature in the duodenum, pancreas and stomach, with the effect that the taxing gives to the liver and the kidneys, with the high hepatic forces, only bringing the system to the proper elimination, though body is far from normal conditions as yet.

4. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, there are those centers, those conditions that have become taxed, others given the laxative, for all work, as it were, for with the organs being overtaxed to excess to nerve centers in the hypogastric and pneumogastric forces until with the taxing in other portions these become almost nil in their functioning. Only needs keep that in the system as given to keep the accord between the functioning of the nerve systems, that the body may gain and keep its equilibrium throughout the body.

5. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF ORGANS PROPER, we find as these:

6. Many of the organs, especially those of elimination have been involved in the condition as produces the taxing in system. These need only be kept in that manner and form as is now meeting the needs of those organs in their functioning. So, then, keep those properties in the system that assist in unifying the condition that exists between the physical forces, either through direct or indirect operation with the suggestions as have been given and are being given, to keep this equalization working to the normal or to the eliminating in the system of the condition as has been given.

7. Follow those well. Do that. Keep what has been given. Add only those necessary elements and bring the body to its normal forces.

8. Do that. Do that for this body, if we would bring the normal and best forces for this body, Mrs. [3770].

R1. 3/20/24 Daughter [1100]‘s letter:

Provo, Utah

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

Am back in Utah again and am sending card back, also check which you will find enclosed.

Was very much pleased with the reading as it described her condition exactly. She was a little disappointed, tho, because it did not prescribe any medicine.

I was worried greatly about my Mother, when I arrived in Houston, as she is in such a weakened condition and can eat only a very little, that she is nothing but skin and bones.

She has to take medicine continually and she thought there would be something prescribed for her, in the reading.

R2. 3/31/24 EC’s letter to daughter, Mrs. [1100]:

My dear Mrs. [1100]:

I have yours of the 19th, with check, for which please accept my sincerest thanks. I’m very glad to know that you were pleased with the reading, and I trust Mrs. [3770] is in very much better condition. As you know, it is impossible for me to know what I’m going to outline as the treatment when one is already receiving treatment, especially. Of course I’m sorry that she was disappointed that I didn’t give her another lot of medicine, but I can truthfully say I believe that what was being given was sufficient, else it would have changed to some other, for we often find a considerable amount of medicine prescribed on a great deal different kind from that being taken.

As you will see from the enclosed, I am trying to undertake the work that it has been my desire so long to do from this point, and am now giving my entire time to the work, as I was when I first met you in Birmingham. We keep rather busy, but the work is considerably scattered, and the greater part of it is for people whom I never see. This of course will never be quite as satisfactory as it will be until I can have a place where people may come for the suggestions and to follow up along the lines as are suggested in the readings. I am doing this wholly and solely on faith, as I’m entirely without capital, only a full willingness to be used as an instrument to try and be of benefit to suffering humanity. I am sure from the reports we get there is considerable good being done. Not only in the physical way, but there are a great many people who are getting a better understanding of themselves and getting a different philosophy. This I think is as much worth while as curing the ills of the physical, though both must go hand in hand. I am asking those that are interested in the work and that can see the benefits that may be derived from same to give of their means wherever it is possible, where they deem it just and right that such work should have propagation to help out. Of course there are many that are not able to pay. These of course are not denied. Consequently, it makes it all the more important that where those that can will help us out once in a while. I certainly am in hopes that you are both quite well. Noticed from the papers you have had considerable snow in that part of the country recently, and some very bad conditions from snow sliding in on those clearing the rails. I’m always more than glad to hear from you, and Mr. [470], and I trust whenever you have the time that you will drop me a line, for no matter how we may be situated an encouraging word from those we deem as our close friends an ones interested in us is certainly always most acceptable.

R3. 3/24/37 Daughter [1100]‘s letter to EC: “The reason I happened to let your birthdays slip by was because of anxiety over my mother. Both she and my Dad had the “flu” while I was in Florida and both got up too soon, thereby, having to go back again and almost having pneumonia.

“The doctor there thinks my mother’s heart has been affected, so each day I was expecting to be called home but they are both much better, now.”

R4. 4/9/46 Daughter [1100]‘s letter in reply to questionnaire: “To the best of my knowledge nothing was ever done about my mother’s reading. I knew very little about them at the time and she knew less. Since then I have often wanted to see her reading, which she did not keep, and hated to put someone to the trouble of making a copy.”

R6. 5/12/47 Mrs. [1100]‘s letter to GD: “Glad, the real reason I am writing at this time is to ask if there is any information in your files on SHINGLES. My poor mother has been very ill with them and I should have gone down to see her sooner, but just didn’t. However, I am going this Friday, if my cold is better, and I wish you would send me what you have on them.

“My doctor here said that very little is known about them but he thinks that primarily there is a deficiency of the B-Complex vitamins. Those who have them suffer with excruciating pain.”

R7. 5/24/47 Daughter [1100]‘s letter:

Dear Hugh Lynn:

Thank you, so much, for your letter, also the information on shingles. It has been very helpful for my mother and for the past few days she has had a lot of pain in the liver area.

I am now using the castor oil packs on that with very good results.

R8. 9/21/48 Miss [1100]‘s letter: “Just wanted you to know that my sister [958] came down here 3 weeks ago when mother had a severe stroke and since then she has been unable to speak and one side paralyzed, including the throat. She is being fed with a tube and is only partially conscious… The doctors say that mother might remain in this condition indefinitely, so I have decided to go back to … on Thursday if she take no sudden change for the worse… The doctors are doing all they can for mother, but there is no hope of any improvement.”

R9. 10/25/48 Mrs. [3770] died, after four successive heart attacks.
