Dear Mr. Cayce;

The major [Edwin G. Wilson] is here today hard at work getting the final touches to the books. I am reading over all the papers, and on Monday Mr. Baker will have all the other matters in good condition, so when I do go away all will [be] in first class condition.

Your telegram came this morning. I told the major [3/8/21 See 4141-1, etc., in re Kentucky lands] last night I would hear from you and from Mother and both came. I wired you that I would leave on Wednesday afternoon. That will put me in Memphis Thursday A.M. and if I make connection will arrive in Atlanta Thursday night, but if I miss it will arrive Friday morning.

Now do what you think best. If you think best meet me at Atlanta or if you think best not to, be ready to meet me at Memphis on my return trip. If you are not in Atlanta when I get there, have a letter for me telling me when you meet me. I will then phone you when I leave. Things are all ready for your arrival, but I really believe now is the time to get to Atlanta before we get the oil and have a little business call. I am sure we will get the rest of the money at once, as soon as I get there, but I want to arrange with Mr. Robinson [Jas. D. Robinson] to come when the oil is struck so we can have him on the job.

I am enclosing a few questions about this trip and if you can wish you would have them at the Ansley marker HOLD by Friday morning if this gets to you in time. I will mail this tonight and it should arrive by Tuesday.

We have changed the pooling agreement so that who ever buys the stock must keep it in the pool. We also have fixed the sale of oil so that I have the say for its sale. When I want advise [advice] I then have Mr. Robinson to vote with me.

I wish you would get a line on Latimer for me, so I will know whether he is straight with me and whether he is sincere, and how far we should go with him in handling the propositions out here.

Be sure and be ready to come back with me as we are ready to go to work, and we are nearer our goal now than ever before in our life. Everyone feels that way. I mailed you a paper of the meeting. It was very successful. Even Mr. Cleveland came into the pool without our asking him. They are all placing confidence in us now, so all we need is oil and we are O.K. in regard the control. That is needing three shares more, we can hardly see that as we believe we have enough as it stands.

Get these for me and be sure and mail them so I will have them before I call on any one and will then know how to proceed with these people. The major sends his best to both you and the madam and we are looking for you mightily, with best to all of you and hoping this finds you in the best of health, I am

R3. 1/22/21 Jesse J. Oliver’s affidavit:

The State of Texas, County of Erath.

Before me, H. E. Brown, Notary Public in and for Erath County, Texas, on this day personally appeared, Jesse J. Oliver, a credible person, known to one, and who after being by one duly sworn, deposes and says as follows: - during the latter part of Jan., 1920, I was employed as Well Driller by Sam Davis Oil Co. at Comyn, Comanche County, Texas, and about March 1st 1920, Mr. Edgar Cayce visited the crew who were then drilling the Sam Davis Oil Well near Comyn, Texas, and he stayed about one month, and he came to the well several times during the yr. 1920, and inspected the work generally and gave us instructions and information pertaining to the work of keeping the drilling works in order etc., and during his absence, during the year 1920, he did occasionally wire us giving instructions and information as to how to proceed etc. in fact while we were getting things shaped up to go to work, and before the well was begun we would report certain matters to him - and his telegrams in answer were always valuable to us in getting defects cured and preventing accidents etc. I became very well acquainted with Mr. Cayce during his visits, and formed a very favorable opinion of him.

R4. 1/22/21 M. C. Sanders’ affidavit:

THE STATE OF TEXAS, COUNTY OF JOHNSON

This is to certify that I have known Mr. Edgar Cayce for some years.

Having been connected with the Sam Davis Oil Company, directly looking after the drilling of their well No. One with which we had been having considerable trouble, also the said well having practically been abandoned by the original drillers, some of the stockholders believing production could be had out of this well, I decided to secure a reading from Mr. Edgar Cayce as to the well. He gave us this reading, instructing us to proceed with the well, we putting it in the proper condition. He also informed us that we would get oil, and that as we progressed at certain depths we would get showings of oil and gas and finally make out of this well a paying producer.

We followed Mr. Cayce’s advice and were successful in freeing the well of obstructions which it contained, the result of an inexperienced, previous driller. Also, we found that the oil and gas showed up in this well identically at the depths that Mr. Cayce had predicted. We also found these obstructions at the various depths predicted by Mr. Cayce. We were also successful in freeing this well of these obstructions and getting same in good condition, all of which was through the reading that Mr. Cayce had given us.

We find this well, at the present time, in splendid condition, showing every sign of a good producer, just as Mr.

Cayce indicated. However, I will say that we have not, as yet, finished same; but fully believe that same will prove a good producer when we have proceeded to the depth Mr. Cayce advised us to go, which is around about one hundred feet more.

Without a doubt, I consider Mr. Cayce a wonderful man and have implicit confidence in his powers.

The State of Texas, County of Erath.

Before me, H. E. Brown, a Notary Public in and for Erath County, Texas, on this day personally appeared F. W. Searight, a credible person, known to me, and who after being by me duly sworn deposes and says, as follows: during latter part of Jan’y 1920, I was employed as roustabout and fireman by Sam Davis Oil Co. at Comyn, Comanche County, Texas, and about March 1st 1920, Mr. Edgar Cayce visited Sam Davis Oil Well near Comyn, Texas, and his 1st visit, lasted about one month, and he came to Comyn several times during the year 1920, and inspected the work generally, and gave us instruction and information relating to the work of keeping the drilling operation in order, and while he was away during the year 1920, he would wire us occasionally giving instructions and information as to how to proceed. In fact before the well was begun we would report certain matters to him and his messages in answer were valuable to us in getting certain defects fixed, etc. I became very well acquainted with said Mr. Cayce during his visits at the Oil Well, and thought well of him.
