R1. 1/25/21 Affidavit:

STATE OF OKLAHOMA, COUNTY OF TULSA

I, J. D. Vinson, of Collinsville, Oklahoma, being first duly sworn, according to law, deposes and says:

That my experience with Edgar Cayce, of Selma, Alabama, in connection with the location of oil and oil properties:

1st: That I am the owner of several thousand acres of oil leases in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas, and that almost a year ago I became acquainted with Mr. Cayce, having heard of some wonderful results he was obtaining in locating oil in Texas; became very much interested and decided later to test his method. I had Mr. Cayce give me a reading on an 80 acre tract of land in Washington County, Oklahoma, on which I was then preparing to drill a well. The report Mr. Cayce gave me on this was that we would encounter oil at around 400 feet, and that the second sand would be dry, but that a third sand still deeper would be productive. We, however, did not drill to the third sand in this well, but did encounter a shallow oil, as predicted by Mr. Cayce, and the second sand was dry, as he also predicted; later we drilled to the third sand, a little over a half mile West of this location and encountered oil at the third sand. This well has not been completed because of a bad hole and water trouble but we are now preparing to drill another well on the same lease on the strength of the showing in this well drilled to the third sand. I later gave Mr. Cayce a test on a large body of leases in Arkansas [3777-9], a copy of reading on this has been forwarded to David E. Kahn, at New York. As no oil has been discovered on this land, I can only say that Mr. Cayce described the property identically as it lies, and his prediction is that oil will be discovered in quantities up to 5,000 bbls to the well, and locates the producing territory in conformity to maps gotten up by the United States Geological Survey, and referred to later.

The fact that Mr. Cayce described the property so accurately seems wonderful to me, from the fact that to my knowledge, he has never seen the locality.

In his references, “The pools lying more to the West and closer to the hills which extend farther South along the water shed of this District.

“The strata of oil runs Northeast by Southwest near the pools of the Southern part of Township 17.”

It is exactly here in the Southern part of this township that we find Pennsylvania formation clearly defined by the U.S. Geological Atlas, folio 202, Eureka Springs and Harrison Quadrangle, and it is here we find marked evidences of buckles, also croppings of oil shale referred to in the above named folio, and also evidences of oil encountered in drilling water wells. The district has never been tested by deep drilling, but gives every promise of yielding oil, as predicted by Mr. Cayce.

I make no claim for Mr. Cayce’s ability to locate oil other than my own actual experience.
