Time of Reading 4:25 to 4:35 P. M. Eastern War Time. Denver, Colorado.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions, also suggestions for help and relief of this body: answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Corona Street - on the way to the depot.
-
Yes - here we have very much of a disturbing condition, this is karmic as well as pathological. Hence in the applications as may be helpful for this body, we must begin with spiritual beliefs, spiritual application, or the application mentally of spiritual beliefs. For mind is ever the builder in the material world.
-
Here through chemical changes that have come about in the body, we have the loss of control of the nerve and muscular forces of the body. Yet atrophy of any kind has not as yet set in.
-
This, then, indicates the very nature of that implied in regard to the karmic condition. Hence the first lesson spiritually is patience.
-
Then there are those applications in the material or mechanical world which, if coordinated with the mind in purpose, will bring better physical conditions for the body.
-
We find that it will require patience, persistence, and consistence in the application of elements having to do with the body-forces, elements that will cause the nervous system to be regenerated - as it were - or that will cause the establishing of coordination between centers from which nerve impulses and reflexes react from the sympathetic or vegetative nerve system to the cerebrospinal nervous system; so that nerves and muscles of the body - extremities, hands, limbs - will coordinate with the impulses of the central nervous system, or that which controls the mental and the organic functioning of organs through the body. For the body still gets hungry, the body still has a mind, the body still reacts to cold and heat. The body still controls assimilation and digestion. But sympathetic impulses, control of locomotories, arms, hands, feet, the body has gradually lost control of.
-
Of course, this is multiple sclerosis, so called - though there are many forms of it.
-
Then we would begin first by applying to the body the Wet Cell Appliance carrying vibratorially, alternately, Chloride of Gold and Spirits of Camphor.
-
The charge for this Appliance would be prepared just a little bit different. To the gallon and a half of distilled water add, in the order named:
Copper Sulphate…2 pounds, Sulfuric Acid C.P…1 1/4 ounces, Zinc…5 drams, Willow Charcoal…1/2 pound.
Keep the attachment plates very clean. Take the connections out of the solution when not in use, and attach them at least twenty minutes before applying to the body.
-
When using the Gold Solution, in the proportions of one grain Chloride of Gold Sodium to each ounce of distilled water, make the attachment of the small copper plate to the lower portion of the 9th dorsal center at one time, and the next time to the lumbar axis.
-
When using the Camphor Solution, commercial strength, the small copper plate would always be attached to the 2nd and 3rd dorsal center.
-
The large nickel plate would always be attached to the umbilical and lacteal duct center.
-
Attach the Appliance for thirty minutes each day, one day using the Gold Solution, the next day the Camphor Solution.
-
Polish the plates with the emery paper each time when taking from the body, and each time just before being attached to the body.
-
Each day when removing the Appliance give the body an oil rub. Begin in the areas of the locomotories and work to the tips of the fingers, and in the lumbar areas and work to the tips of the toes, or circling about the limbs and especially in the cerebrospinal areas - the lumbar and sacral in the lower portion, and the brachial center in the upper portion - or the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th dorsals, even up to the 6th or 7th cervical. Use this combination of oils combining them in the order named:
Olive Oil…6 ounces, Tincture of Myrrh…6 ounces, Lanolin (liquefied)…1/2 ounce.
Massage these thoroughly into the areas indicated.
-
In the diet keep close to raw vegetables almost daily, using them in varied forms. Not that this is all that should be taken, but do have these prepared in some way each day; lettuce, celery, watercress, onions, radishes. All of these that may be eaten raw, often prepared with gelatin. Let the rest of the diet be of those things that are strength-giving, such as liver, fish, fowl. Have the smaller fowl prepared, as wild game - birds, or small chicken and cooked so that the bones can be crushed and the marrow eaten. Even the marrow fat of beef would be well for the entity, properly prepared.
-
Only use brown bread. Not too much sweets nor too much fats.
-
Do these. Be consistent, be persistent, be prayerful. Expect something to happen. Know what you believe spiritually. Know the source of thy healing. For all healing must come from the attuning of self to the divine creative forces as may manifest in self.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is Denver’s altitude affecting me adversely? (A) Not necessarily.
-
(Q) Would pyrodoxine (Vitamin B-6) help me? (A) Not especially here, unless great changes were made of other natures. If we will do these things as indicated, we will get help.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/22/44 [3779]‘s letter to Mr. A. M. Godfrey:
“I enclose the directions for a Wet Cell Appliance sent to me by the Association for Research and Enlightenment.
“My understanding is that from these directions you make up the necessary chemicals, etc. so that I will be able to follow Mr. Cayce’s instructions. If you have the Chloride of Gold Solution and the Camphor Solution and can furnish them, I will appreciate it if you will let me know the price, so that I can mail you a money order. Or if you prefer you may send everything I need C.O.D…”
R2. 1/23/44 [3779]‘s letter: “Your reading for me arrived last Thursday. Many thanks for diagnosing my case, and for the hope and constructive treatment you outline.
“I have written for the appliance you suggest and expect to receive it in due time. As soon as this arrives I shall proceed according to your directions and I can guarantee that I shall faithfully follow the instructions of the reading. Then from time to time I shall keep you informed as to my progress.
“Thank you again for giving me this emergency appointment and for the encouraging words as to my recovery…”
R3. 2/2/44 EC’s letter to [3779]: “Thank you for yours of the 23rd. I am glad to know that you are thus far pleased with the suggestions made and your treatments. Do follow the suggestions very closely in the use of the Appliance. I think you will get real results.
“Thank you, and do let us hear from you from time to time…”
Background
Background
B1. 10/22/43 Letter to EC from [3779]: “Enclosed is my application with a $20.00 money order for an Associate Membership.
“Your letter of Sept. 23, in which you say that your appointments are twelve months in advance, discouraged me very much. However, in the face of this demand on you, my only hope is, that after I tell my story, you might find a place for me on your emergency list.
“First of all let me assure you that more than ten years of studying Divine Science with its delving into psychic phenomena, as well as several years of studies under Dr. Willard Carver, who extensively lectured on that subject, have given me some concept of the marvelous power of the subconscious mind in action. I hope, therefore, that I may be considered qualified for a reading.
“My problem is physical and a brief case history is as follows:
“About 12 years ago I began to lose some of my strength, but I paid little attention to these minor disturbances because I was studying and working hard with long hours as a bookkeeper and accountant. Then in the fall of 1936 heavy lifting left my hands with a clumsy numb feeling. Since then I have studied chiropractic and have had hundreds of adjustings with no appreciable or permanent improvement in my hands. In May 1940 I had a gangrenous infection in my neck and, as my recovery was slow, I went to the Mayo Clinic in October of 1940 for a complete check-up. My case was diagnosed as multiple sclerosis with the statement that they neither know the cause nor remedy. I have taken minerals, vitamins, special foods, treatments, etc. (for that matter I still am) but still my condition has grown steadily worse. In 1940 I could still walk with a good degree of steadiness, but now and for the past two years I cannot walk unaided. In the last ten months we, a friend and I, have tried hypnotism, but that too has not been successful as the hypnotist has not been able to hypnotize me. I am thirty-eight, soon thirty-nine, years old and appear in excellent health when I don’t try to walk or do anything with my hands.
“I am convinced that somewhere there is someone who can help me, at my age, overcome my difficulties, and I will appreciate from the bottom of my heart if you will find it possible to furnish me, through a reading, such information that will direct me to the proper kind of treatment. I will gladly cooperate in every way within my means…”
B2. 11/23/43 [3779]‘s letter to EC: “Thank you for your letter of Nov. 1st. I am sorry to tell you that I am not able at this time to take advantage of the opportunity you offer in acquire[ing] a Living Sponsorship share.
“In answer to your letter of Nov. 13th, I am sending you the questions to be read at my reading Jan. 9, 1944.
“Unfortunately the booklets, I ordered, haven’t reached me as yet. In them I hoped to find suggestions for my questions. If, therefore, I ask questions which are answered in the course of the reading, please ignore them. If, on the other hand, I fail to ask some, which, in your opinion you deem necessary, I shall be grateful if you add them.
“My chief desire is to become a useful human being again, so any questions I would like to ask will first and foremost be concerned with how I can attain this in the fastest way. Then, if I am allowed more questions, they would pertain to the causes of my illness.
“Perhaps, the following will give you an idea of the way I have this reading in mind:
“Questions: 1. Is my condition due to mental, physical or inherited causes? 2. What must I do to get a better understanding of my illness? 4. What must I do to get a healthy physique with good circulation in my hands, feet, etc.? 5. How can I get a strong back, strong eyes and walk normally? 6. Will pyrodoxine (Vitamin B6) help me? 7. If diet will help - what diet should be followed? 8. Is Denver’s altitude affecting me adversely? 9. Where can I find the right doctor to treat me?
“As I mentioned above some of these questions, undoubtedly, will be answered in the reading. Therefore, please be guided by your judgement and experience. Thank you.
“The time & place again: Time: Virginia Beach, Va., …, 3:30 to 4:30 EWT - … Denver, Colo. 1:30 to 2:30 EWT.
“P.S. A SEARCH FOR GOD just arrived; however the pamphlets were not included.”
