This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 28th day of February, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - [3781].

1. GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces, giving the conditions that are as personalities, latent and exhibited, in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth’s plane, giving time, place, and the name, and that in that life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity and that to which it may attain, and how.

2. EC: We have the entity and those relations with the universe and universal forces, as are latent and exhibited in the present earth’s plane.

3. (EC speaking in undertone) See, there are some conditions surrounding this entity not well to be given to him!

4. In entering the earth’s plane we find the entity coming under the influence of Jupiter, Mercury, Uranus. In the influences, then, we find in the early portion of the life in the present experience - many contingencies arose that were not satisfactory. Many elements entering into the development. Many elements surrounding the entity in its environmental conditions that were not well pleasing. Yet, as the entity looks back upon same in the present, there is much found that the entity would like to change in the life.

5. Of necessity - coming under the influences of Jupiter and Mercury - one given entirely to accumulation of world’s goods, or of the application of larger forces in the life; such influences as turn towards money and business, and business associations and business relations. These may not bring all there is in life; yet to the entity the secular side, the material side, appeals the most. Well that the entity stop and consider that these are of the earth earthy, and do not bring in the inner self that that satisfies any more than does those conditions through which the entity has passed, and would - if could - change some of those surrounding forces.

6. In the conditions, then, we find one that may MAKE the success especially in the line of that that has to do with wood, or whatever may be covered by something else to make it look better - get the connections with these! that that may be covered up - one material and financial successes may be brought to the entity through such channels. That that may be painted, varnished, enameled, or covered with that that gives a different appearance - veneer goods, or veneers of every character and kind may bring to the entity position, power, place, in secular ways and manners; yet - these will in themselves never satisfy. While a portion of worldly goods are necessary, let them, however, be rather that of the RESULT, rather than that that one would attain irrespective of HOW or results that are accomplished within self or others by attaining same.

7. One of good mind - abilities - and one that is well liked among men, OF A CHARACTER.

8. One that does not succumb or pay attention to childhood, nor to dogs; yet one that with women has his own way! One that may bring destructive forces in the life of self and others through the gratification of the abilities in some of these lines.

9. One that may attain in business associations powers that, guided, directed and kept in CORRECT paths, would bring to self - through proper application of abilities - GOOD, and a life worth living.

10. In appearances, we find these as few as MOST - not all - that occur in this period of a year, as man has divided same.

11. In the one before this in the land of the Saracens. The entity among those that were hewers of wood, and the ones that gave of the ethics in accomplishing much in designing, especially toward that of buildings and timbers for same. The entity gained and lost. Gained in the abilities to serve. Lost in that of self desires gratified to the abasement of others. In the urge is seen that the entity is a good judge of timber, woodwork, people - especially of the opposite sex - and of the ability to know the places and uses of various woods, especially those that may be used as veneers.

12. In the one before this we find in that period when there were new designs being made in construction of houses in the land known now as Mongolia. The entity then among the carvers of that period, when the division of the earth in that period - the entity among those who were destroyed in that period.

The entity brought and wrought WELL in that period, yet in suffering blamed others rather than self. In the urge, the love of travel - of things beautiful in art and in music, and especially interested in the ability of the peoples who may be great singers or instrumental musicians.

13. In the abilities - here we find, as given, much may be said; for the entity - considering conditions from the purely material standpoint - will find success in the handling, the sale, the judging, or the disposing of things made of wood - either in the rough or in the dressed or finished article, and the entity in applying self’s abilities - especially in that field of veneers - would bring to self moneys, position, power. In the use of these take thought, for in the application comes development or retarding:

14. Then associate self with those that the entity has the proposition offered lately, either as sales manager - on the floor of department - or as HANDLING of those in the rough; for in either MATERIAL success may be brought. In the application of same will bring peace and satisfaction, or distraughtness and distress. Take heed unto those things that do easily beset. Prepare self aright, first finding in life other than the gratification of desire. Rather in that of uplift, upbuilding, and presenting the FULL account of the deeds done in the body in the abilities that are given thee, and the application of knowledge obtained.

“The information as gotten in your reading was mailed yesterday. We didn’t receive the card in time to get on the day appointed, but got it as soon thereafter as possible.

“I am in hopes that you will be able to gain something from that given you and be able to apply it in such a way that it will be very much worth while. I wish I knew how to explain it to you, but not knowing what will be the questions that will arise in your mind from this, I don’t know how to begin. Should there be anything you would like to ask me about, I would be very glad to hear from you.

B1. 1/26/28 [3781]‘s letter to EC:

“Your name has been given me by a couple of your staunch N.Y. believers and being very desirous of having some guidance in my future undertakings, I am enclosing herewith my check for $20.00 to cover initiation charges into your club. If this is okay with you, will you kindly enlighten me as to future moves and why I have been unsuccessful in the past, if this is within your power.

“I was born July 26th, 1879 and at present unemployed but have several offers in varied lines - most important being furniture…”

B2. 2/17/28 EC’s letter to [3781]:

”…From your letter I gather that you desire information which would be obtained in a Life Reading. Possibly you will know better about this from reading the data sent you. Sometimes I feel I dislike for people to first approach the workings of the phenomena from that standpoint, but from the information you desire - unless you want strictly a business reading - I believe it would be obtained best from the Life Reading. I only wish it were possible, though, for you to be here in person and hear this, and then I feel sure you would understand it much better - for I must say that Life Readings are rather far advanced in the study of psychic phenomena.

“Not knowing which you may desire, the Physical or the Life Reading, I am enclosing appointment cards for both. If it is the Physical, we must have the address at which you will be at time set for reading, with the full name - not initial. If it is the Life Reading you desire, it is not necessary that we know where you are, but the full name given at birth, the time, the place, the day, the month and the year of birth.

“We are making the appointment for the morning of the 23rd. Whichever you desire, fill out that card and return so we can have it in hand before that day. Trusting that we may be of service…”
