This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 4th day of October, 1924, in accordance with request made by the self, Mr. [3787], via Alfred D. Butler.

1. EC: These are the conditions as we find them in this body:

2. The conditions where injury has been in the spine, and where the incision and removal of portions of bone, and where impingements and improper connections that caused the paralysis of the lower portion of the body, these will be assisted by the continuation of the manipulation and adjustments by the chiropractic forces, and would be greatly benefitted by according also the vibrations from the deep vibrations of the heavy applicator of violet ray forces over the lower limbs and about the sacral and ilium plexuses. Also there will be strength added to the body by applying the radium applicator over affected parts, and binding over this a heavy leather jacket that may support the body sufficient to gain use of the lower portion of the body. Applying where abrasions occur a lotion from the leaves and roots of Plantain, equal parts of Plantain leaves and roots and fresh butterfat. The milk and water skimmed off as this is boiled (openly) together. The residue after this has been cooked together for twenty minutes, after coming to a boil, apply to the abrasions and massage into the body along the affected parts, keeping the eliminations properly in the system by the use of oils, preferably olive oil and the Russian White Oil, both may be used.

3. Do not overtax the body with impure olive oil, else we would have a rancid condition that would prove detrimental to the lower portions of body. At the same time as these are being accorded, let the body study well these scriptures, that the body through its mental, and through its soul forces, may gain that strength necessary to produce the proper coordination through soul, spirit and physical elements in the physical man. Let the entity ever remember that the injunction applies directly to the individual entity when same is applied in this entity’s life, and manifestations of same through those organs that now function normal.

4. Begin with the 14th chapter as accorded in the scriptures of John, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th. Keep these truths ever before the mental, and that necessary for this entity to develop in this present sphere will come as a light to guide throughout the rest of the entity’s sojourn here.

5. Do that, with the full understanding the best is being accorded the physical, the mental and the spirit elements of the body, [3787].

R1. 11/2/24 Alfred D. Butler’s letter to EC: ”…On one of my visits to Bessemer, Ala., Miss […] asked about you and told about one of her kinsmen who had something the matter with his back. I gave her your address and expressed my confidence in your ability to show them how to bring about some beneficial results. Recently she told me that the man had spent the most comfortable day he had known since the accident after starting your treatment. She felt elated over his condition, and the indications are that all of her family are enthusiastic over the possibilities…”

B1. 10/1/24 He verified appointment, saying: “I have tried several doctors who say they have done all they know to do. I got my spine fractured last Nov. 6th and part of the 3rd vertebra was taken off my spine. I was paralyzed from there down for a long time, but I am very much better now - I can use my legs some but I have got so far and don’t seem to get much better. I have had a chiropractor at work on me for the last 4 months and he has helped me a great deal, but it looks like he has done all he knows to do. Will I be able to walk again?”
