This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of November, 1926, in accordance with request made by her father, Mr. […].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find those abnormal conditions as have to do with the normal physical development of this body, these conditions have to do with that of the prenatal conditions; yet these conditions may be assisted and brought nearer to the normal forces for the body, and the mentality of the body is at that change in physical development where advantage taken of this change at the present time would be better than DELAYED conditions, for the abnormalities may turn from the physical to the purely mental, with the changes as come about with the body attempting to bring about the equilibrium in physical force, so with the physical equilibrium brought about the mental equilibrium would be left, as it were, dormant.

4. The trouble, then, being improper coordination throughout the system, produced by undeveloped glands, especially those of the nature that have to do with the glands called ductless glands - the thyroid, the pineal, the endrin [adrenal]. These all show their lack of development. The effects of these conditions are apparent in the physical and mental action of the body.

5. To meet the needs of these conditions at the present time will require care, attention, persistence, and consistent effort on the part of those in charge.

6. The body needs be given then, under the direction of a physician, those properties as are prepared from thyroid secretions, see? for this will necessarily have to be changed as conditions develop, and as the normal forces exercise or exert themselves toward normal development - requiring, then, one that will also give, in the sleeping or restful state, those suggestions in that direct positive manner of the development necessary for the physical and mental being to be awakened to that innate effort of the innate being, see? that is, in this manner: At least once each day, for ten to fifteen minutes, as the body lies to rest, to sleep, the constant talking to the body, in that subdued yet positive manner, of the body physical building to meet the needs of the body in a physical and mental manner, for the perfect development of body mentally and physically, and add to this, whoever directs this - mother or father, or both - one one time, on the next - the consecration of self in prayer, that the power will be awakened in self to awaken this being in its best self.

7. During this whole period - that this is being given (these suggestions and the gland treatment), give the osteopathic treatments, of correct adjustment and alignment of every vertebra, of every muscular tissue center in the body, should be correct in every sense. That is, perfect alignment in the cerebro-spinal system - perfect relaxation of the body in every center from which the cerebro-spinal gives its nerve nutriment to the glands in the throat, in the base of the brain - FOLLOWING OUT this line to the coccyx even, and especially that stimulation in the lower dorsal and upper lumbar - to the lower centers, see?

8. After this has been given - osteopathic treatments - for fifteen to twenty days, add with these other treatments (all kept up, see?) those vibrations as would be produced on the body, and in the normalcy of the development, as are found in the Radio-Active Appliance, for this creates correct metabolism and correct coordination of the nerve system.

9. Do this, consistently, persistently, and we will find the body will develop to the normal forces, being backward only about one to two years - by the time it reaches fourteen to fifteen years old.

Dear Mr. […]

I enclose you, herewith, the copy of the reading as was gotten for the little girl. I certainly wish that it were possible for me to talk with you in person regarding this reading and the condition of your child. This, I believe, will prove a very interesting case, and a very interesting study for several physicians there in Birmingham who know more or less concerning the suggestions for improvement of physical conditions that have been given in these readings. One man I am sure you will find interested in the case, if you will approach him properly - Dr. Percy Woodall, the Osteopath. I believe his office is in the First National Bank Building, and as one of the suggestions is osteopathic treatment, I am sure you will want to take the matter up with him. I shall be very anxious to know what he has to say concerning the condition as he finds it, and as to know the little girl responds to the treatments as he gives them. Now, as to whether he will give the gland treatment, I do not know. Possibly he may suggest to you someone who will take up this part of it. There was a physician in the Norwood Hospital - I don’t remember his name just now - that I feel would be especially interested in this case. You talk to Dr. Woodall regarding this part of it too.

Then, there is the suggestion as is to be given to the little girl as she sleeps. I don’t know whether you get the full idea that is given here or not. I would suggest that you go to Dr. Tinder, the Optometrist - talk to him about it. Show him the reading, and ask him to tell you just how this part of it is to be carried out, for I feel sure you will not want to leave anything undone that would possibly make your child grow into a perfect normal body, with a perfect normal mind and I feel very sure, from the experience of others, that if you will consistently and persistently carry out all of the suggestions as are given her, you are going to find relief for your child, and I feel too you are going to find hearty cooperation from the physician, or physicians, that you may approach regarding the condition. I would, however, go to Dr. Woodall first - and, to be sure, we will want to check up by giving other readings from time to time, as the condition and as the treatments progress, that we may see just where this or that is needed - or this or that is to be left off. You will see, after a few days or weeks, you are to begin to apply a Radio-Active Appliance. This you can only obtain from Mr. T. B. Brown, of the Brookins Manufacturing Company, Dayton, Ohio, and here again I am sure you will find hearty cooperation, for I am sure Mr. Brown will be glad to prepare this and to make the charges or payments for such to suit your own convenience, just as I am sure the other physicians will.

As for remuneration for ourselves, this you will make in keeping with your own abilities. Of course, I know nothing about your condition financially, but I feel sure that you will want to contribute towards anything that will possibly offer you a means or way of bringing about normal healthy conditions in body and mind for your little girl. The work depends upon such contributions, or my daily bread depends upon such contributions. I certainly hope that you will let us hear from you from time to time, for we assure you it is our desire to be of help if possible.

We have followed your suggestions to the “letter”. I believe her general condition shows a slight improvement, she has a better complexion and a better expression in her face.

I was waiting until 6 weeks of Osteopathic treatment had elapsed before writing to you as Dr. Woodall suggested we give her 6 weeks treatment and if conditions justified it we would skip a week and then give her another 6 weeks etc. etc. and if conditions were not satisfactory to discontinue it. At the end of each six weeks I will inform you as to Dr. Woodall’s opinion.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Having heard of your wonderful work through a cousin of mine, Mrs. Lillian Fraysse of San Diego, Cal., I am asking for a reading for my girl baby. She is seven years & four months old. She can neither walk nor talk, can crawl on all fours, & pull up to chairs & other objects & stand up by holding, cannot stand alone. Her mentality is below normal, she can understand a lot of things but not all. Her condition might be described as a general lack of development, both physical & mental, caused by (several Physicians’ statements) undeveloped Thyroid Glands. Her name is [3789].

Mrs. Fraysse wrote to your secretary, Miss Davis, regarding my child, & Miss Davis told her to have me write to you. I think Mrs. Fraysse, who was formerly Miss Lillian Batton, was acquainted with you both in Selma, Ala.

Anything you can do for my baby will be greatly appreciated and if you can bring her to normalcy, I will be greatly indebted to you & will repay you if it takes the rest of my life.
