This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 27th day of August, 1924, in accordance with request made by his mother, Mrs. […].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of the body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find we have abnormal conditions in this body. We have many conditions that to this body have become normal for the body under the existing conditions, yet these from the physical standpoint may be directed into channels that the physical reaction in the body would be found a great deal better, and the development in the physical sense toward the soul and spirit forces would be of entirely different status or condition.

4. Now the conditions have to do with the incoordination throughout the whole system. This is the manifestation as found at present in the physical body, [3792] we are speaking of. Now the conditions as we find them are as these. First:

IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, the quantity and the elements are under such strain that, though they be near normal in elementary forces, the applications of same through physical conditions are very bad, and in the separation of its elements we would find there are chemical actions that are lacking from the blood supply, those of the hardened or those that are present in the stabilized active mind and body.

6. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, we find in this the physical action where the lack of coordination throughout the body is affected, for we find in times back, even at the time of birth, there was a strain brought to the first cervical that produced in this body the strain on the pineal nerve and gland that has [brought] and does bring most of the trouble to this body. For at birth, at presentation, this was an abnormal condition, and in the developing of the body this has only remained in this lack of coordination throughout the system, and in the various cycles of development, for we have reached now nearly three, the changes have come as the developing of the body; in the physical forces have changed in its active forces over the body, yet the mental forces, save under certain conditions, remain near that of the second and third change. That is, there are those conditions that bring the reasoning forces in some channels, and in others refuses to give the full coordination to the developing from the first, second and third stage.

7. IN THE ORGANS OF THE BODY, these are near normal, for physical forces have developed on under the strain, and some are subnormal in functioning, others above normal in functioning.

8. R E L I E F, then to bring the relief for this body, we may do this through a long series of physical conditions to be met, to be developed, to be changed, so that we not only have retraction, refraction, yet must have a developing with the body as it reaches each stage of retraction in its developing.

9. We would then apply those conditions as would be found first in this: Those electrical vibrations from battery prepared in this manner:

10. To one gallon and a half of rain water, add

Heavy Sea Salt…1 pound, Plain Charcoal…1/2 pound, Copper Sulfate…1 1/2 pounds, Sulfuric Acid C.P…1 ounce, Common Zinc…6 drams.

This solution we would find would charge itself, yet must be charged with high voltage, low amperage, for at least sixty minutes, and while being charged there should be in the solution an opaque container containing one pound of iodine. Let this remain in solution in container. Use when charging and when applying to body one heavy copper pole, the other heavy nickel or silver pole. Attach to poles small insulated copper wires, and to the positive pole, or copper pole, a small plate, with copper at the end (it is made of copper, see?). This would be attached to the body at the first cervical. The negative or opposite pole, of thin piece of silver or nickel, this would be attached at the umbilicus, just above same. This body must get the vibration from this solution, charged in the manner as given, for at least two hours each day. As this is being given, also give those deep vibrations and manipulations as would be given from an osteopath physician.

11. Do this until we have quieted and brought nearer an equalization in the equilibrium of the body. Then there would be other instructions given from here.

12. We are through for the present.

R1. 8/27/24 EC’s letter to [3792]‘s mother: ”…Yours of the 25th, with the card, received, and the enclosure, for which I thank you. The reading was taken this morning, as you will see by the enclosed.

“I am in hopes that you will be able to carry out the suggestions as are given here, and I am sure you will see some results from same when you do. I would ask that you please let me keep in touch with you, and with how you progress with the suggestions as are given. From time to time I would like very much to go over the case again and see that the body is being accorded the proper condition. Remember I want to be of service, and do not hesitate to ask me regarding any of the conditions as they arise…”

R2. 9/5/24 EC’s letter to [3792]‘s father: ”…Replying to yours of the 3rd, I am sorry to know that you have not been able to get this battery prepared for the boy. I might undertake to tell you just how to go about this, or I might give you reference to some people in Birmingham who have made a specialty of preparing them. The name is the Birmingham Battery company, but I believe the better way would be for you would be for you to write your brother-in-law in Chicago and have him to have Mr. Keller, of their Plant Department, to prepare everything except the solutions and to give you the instructions as to how to have solutions charged. In fact, since I’ve been writing this, I am forwarding the reading to Mr. […] [brother-in-law] and asking him to have Mr. Keller to prepare this and send to you direct. I hope I’m not overstepping my bounds in doing so. They have had several of these in Chicago, similar ones at least. Mr. Keller is an expert on such matters and has made quite a study of this, so I believe it’s the thing to do…”

R3. 9/13/24 [3792]‘s uncle [4350]‘s letter: ”…Immediately upon receipt of your letter of the 5th… I arranged with Mr. Keller to set up the equipment as you suggested. I have been busy in conference all week, hence the delay in answering your note.

“I was sorry I did not see you when you were last in Chicago, but hope to have the pleasure of having a chat with you soon…”

R4. 10/30/24 [3792]‘s letter to EC: ”…Thinking that you would like to hear of the results of the reading that you held for me at your home on August 27, I am glad to say that after having the battery made, according to your directions, by Mr. Keller of Chicago, I have been taking treatments of two hours each day.

“However, I have not been able to receive the part of the treatment that calls for ‘those deep vibrations and manipulations as would be given from an osteopath physician.

“I am better than I was at the time of your reading. I feel different in every respect. I would have written you before now in regard to my treatment, but thought you would inquire at the proper time.

“Trusting that I will hear from you in the near future, I am” Sincerely yours, [3792]

R5. 11/5/24 EC’s letter to [3792]: ”…Have yours of the 30th, and was indeed glad to hear from you. Certainly glad to know that you’re feeling better in many ways. I should think the time had come when you should get the osteopathic treatments along with your other treatment, and that your improvement then would be faster. However, it might be very well that we would at this time give another reading on your physical condition and see just what the osteopath is supposed to do in his treatments, or if there are other treatments that should go along with the conditions.

“Now, I believe, the best way to reach these conditions would be for you to make a list of questions regarding your condition at the present time, and we will see what we can get. As soon as we hear from you, if this is satisfactory, we will make an appointment and try to get this for you.

“Thanking you for letting me hear from you, and believing and trusting that this finds you still feeling a great deal better, I am, with all good wishes…”

B1. 8/19/24 Letter from [3792]‘s mother: ”…My brother-in-law, [[4350]‘s husband], of the Western Union, Chicago, with whom you are acquainted, told me about your wonderful powers while here recently on a visit and suggested I communicate with you and request a reading on my son [3792] who has been sick practically since the day of his birth. For the past year or two his condition has been worse despite all the medical attention he has received from the many doctors whom we have consulted. From what Mr. […] has told I am exceedingly hopeful that through your instrumentality, Mr. Cayce, I am at last about to find relief from many years of anxiety. I shall be glad to have you give him a reading advising the nature of the sickness, the treatment to follow and the time it will take to effect a cure. I presume you will let me hear from you as to where you wish my son to be when the reading is being given…”

B2. 8/22/24 EC’s letter to [3792]‘s mother: ”…I have yours of the 19th relative to a reading for your son. I shall certainly be very glad to try and be of assistance to you, and am enclosing, herewith, our regular application card, with date and hour set when this may be made. You will please give the full name instead of initial, also give the street and house number as to where he will be on the day and hour this will be made. Please return card so that we may know that this is satisfactory. If there are any special questions, please make note of same.

“As to remuneration, perhaps Mr. […] told you something of this. The usual amount sent us as a contribution is 20.00 to 25.00 and up. We ask that people contribute according to their ability. I know Mr. […] quite well, think a great deal of him and some of the rest of the people associated with him in the Western Union office. It happens also that I have some very good friends in your city, [4283] and [4280]. Would be very glad if you would call on them and ask them of their experience with the work. I certainly hope that I can be of assistance to your son in getting the proper suggestions for his health…”

B3. 8/25/24 Letter from [3792]‘s father: ”…I enclose $10.00 which is all I can pay on account of continued sickness of 20 years duration.

“Am hurrying to get this in next mail so it will reach you in time…”
