GC: Now you will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Now, we find there are many conditions that need correcting, while the cause of the existent conditions is an accumulation of various sundry conditions, these brought on by many changes as have and do take place in the body laboring under stresses as have been produced in the system.
-
These, then, are conditions as we find them - many of these varying, many of these changing, as we find, but this as the general outline of conditions:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this too full at times, and apparently carrying too heavy supply, as it were, of those properties that should be eliminated, until we find where tissue becomes plethora in its effect, and conditions are produced or brought about that separate themselves, or cause conditions to arise as swellings in portions of the body.
-
IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this we find the general seat or cause of conditions, for with subluxations as have been created, and through taxing of conditions through those of lesions and adhesions as have been formed in various portions of the system, this brought the first general condition, as we see, that causes distresses in the body. These forming, then, as we find, in the lumbar and in the organs of the pelvis. These conditions in the change here as came about for the body, through the natural effects and with these disturbances in these portions of the body causing the lesions, this, then, produced subluxations in the lower dorsal and in the lumbar region. Disturbances, then, to the mesenteric system, from which this has received, as we see, the nerve incentive, and the whole digestive system becomes involved, see? Then, the natural outgrowth, without these corrections, have been the variations as have existed from time to time, until in the present condition we find many variations of this same condition, with the effect of all, as combined, on the mental forces of the individual.
-
To overcome, or to meet the needs, then, of these conditions, would be as this:
-
We would have three, as it were, separate and distinct forms, manners or ways of applying beneficial influences to this body. As well as the diet that should be built up, these other properties should be added in their regular form and in their regular manner.
-
First, we would begin - not too heavy at first, but with those of the manipulation, osteopathically given, to correct the conditions in the dorsal and lumbar region, giving the GENERAL manipulation at least once each week, or each two weeks, for the whole alignment, as it were, or to keep the whole system in accord with the various changes produced by the different corrections being made, see? Well that before each one of these are given that hot packs - wet - but not sufficiently wet that the water would run off on the body - as hot as can be stood by the body, be applied to the whole cerebro-spinal system. Then the treatments given following same. Necessary, then, that the body rest after such.
-
Taking internally, during this whole time, these properties:
-
First we would prepare as the carrier, this:
-
To 16 ounces of distilled water, add 8 ounces Wild Cherry Bark. Reduce this by simmering to half the quantity. Strain. Then add 6 ounces of sugar. Then reduce, by the steaming or boiling, to 6 ounces. See? Fluid ounces. To this we would add:
Tincture of Stillingia…1/4 ounce, Fluid Extract Burdock Root…1/4 ounce, Elixir Calisaya…1/2 ounce, Syrup of Sarsaparilla…1/2 ounce, Iodine (Bromide)…3 minims, 10% Solution of Bromide of Potassium…15 minims, 10% Solution of Iodide of Potassium…20 minims, Tincture of Capsici…1 minim, Oil of Sassafras…4 minims.
Shake the solution well to-gether before each dose is taken. The dose would be half a teaspoonful 3 times each day - early morning, noon, and just before retiring.
-
After at least 13 adjustments, osteopathically, have been taken, and these medicinal properties being taken all the time, we would begin with that of the ultra Violet Ray, or Alpine or Rino Ray. This would be applied to the body in the variation as is found that the body responds to. This would, preferably, be applied to the front and back portions of the body, see? for a few minutes every third day.
-
These, we find, will bring better conditions for this body. Do that, [3814].
-
(Q) How often should the osteopathic adjustments be made? (A) At least every other day. At least 52 such adjustments should be made.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 10/12/26 Daughter’s letter to EC:
Mr. Edward Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Your letter and reading for my mother came. It all seems foreign to her trouble, (as she has a very bad cough and weak from that) unless the cough is caused from her condition and ailment. Mother says she hasn’t an ache or pain in her body. Just in a weakened condition from this cough, which started one year ago this month with Acute Bronchitis, and now her physician says it is Bronchial Asthma.
There is no osteopath doctor in this town, no violet ray treatments and, I am afraid it is going to be impossible to get them. Mother and I intend going to Louisville in a few days, (which is my home) that is when she is strong enough
- Do you advise giving the medicine you prescribed for her, without the treatments. Let me know. She has been confined to her bed for three days, from the effects of a coughing spell. Weakness, running a temperature of 101-1/2 degrees. I called the Doctor in, and now she does not seem to have any fever at all, and says she feels some stronger and her appetite is getting better. The medicine he gave her seems to help loosen up the tough greenish phlegm, which is so hard to raise when she coughs. For some time before she had taken this hard spell of coughing, she would only raise up a white foaming phlegm or mucus which seemed to vanish when the air struck it. Please let me hear from you again by return mail if you can help her in any way.
As to the card of membership I will fill out at a later date. And also will send payment later.
I recommended you to some parties you were aiding [noted in 5724-1 Background] which I feel that you can help.
R2. 10/12/26 Daughter’s response to questionnaire:

No pain in body anywhere. Bad cough and very weak.
R3. 10/15/16 EC’s letter to [3814]‘s daughter:
Mrs. […] …, Indiana
Dear Mrs. […]:
Replying to yours of the 12th. I am of the opinion, from the reading, and what you say about your mother’s condition, that the sooner you can get these corrections made by the osteopath, the sooner she will be relieved of this bronchial trouble - for, as you will notice in the reading, it gives that the subluxations in the cervical and dorsal region cause a plethora condition, which is nothing more or less than a filling up of the tubes in that region, which would be, in this case, the bronchials, upper portion of lungs and trachea
- and with the correction of these conditions the trouble would disappear. I am sure, too, that you would find that the medicinal properties as are suggested would be beneficial to her, for they would relieve this congestion and inflammation - hence would reduce temperature. There has been an inhalant suggested for some that would possibly prove very beneficial to your mother also. This is only inhaled - it is not taken internally nor rubbed on. Shake solution in the bottle, then inhale through the mouth into the bronchials and lungs. Put 4 ounces of pure grain alcohol in a 6 ounce bottle, or an 8 ounce bottle. Add to this 20 minims of Eucalyptol, 10 minims Benzosol, or 3 minims Creosote - 10 minims Canadian Balsam, or Balsam of Fir - 5 minims Benzoin, 10 minims Rectified Oil of Turp, 30 minims Tincture of Tolu in solution. Keep the container corked with a glass stopper. Shake solution before inhaling. Whenever the cough is severe, I am sure you will find this will give great relief. This may be inhaled whenever it is necessary - it doesn’t have to be changed for several months at least. I’m sure you will be able to get this and will find it beneficial.
I certainly hope you will let me hear from you from time to time, for I assure you it’s our desire to be of help if possible.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
