This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of December, 1927. This reading was volunteered at the beginning of reading 270-11, after the “suggestion” had been given by GC for the 270-11 reading.
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.
-
EC: Now, this is very interesting, to know that entity known as [3817] has just come to the realization of being in the Borderland. [[3817] had died some 8-10 years before. See 3817-1 Reports for details.]
-
Most of these [present - EC, GC, LBC] see and know those conditions surrounding those - and these will be be presented in a way and manner, through that realization, to some of those who have been and were associated with these about this entity. [Then after a slight pause, EC began with the reading for Mr. [270].]

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/21/27 EC’s letter to Morton H. Blumenthal: “This man [3817] we were acquainted with many years ago. There were some peculiar situations between him and our family - very little things, of course, but things when studied give basis for a good deal of speculation at least. This man [3817] died something like eight or possibly ten years ago - maybe not quite so long, but with this information that he has just come to the realization or consciousness of being in the Borderland - interesting - peculiar, don’t you think? and my, we could ask a thousand and one questions about the why’s and wherefore’s, what his consciousness was, how he arrived at it, where he had been all the time - oh, hundreds of things!”
R2. 1/30/57 GD’s note: Mr. and Mrs. Cayce used to live across the street from Mr. [3817], and told about the night he died approximately 8-10 years prior to the reading, screaming in agony. Apparently he died of acute indigestion, or something of that nature. They could hear him screaming the night he died, across the street.
EC told of another case where they were trying to get a reading on EC, and the person conducting the reading gave the number of the building across the street, instead of the correct number of the room in which they were taking the reading. When EC said “We don’t find the body here,” the Conductor asked, “What do you find?” and EC replied - “A man doctoring his books.” EC said it was the office of Mr. [3817].
The wording of the reading [3817-1] seems to indicate that EC was arranging with some “on the other side” to help Mr. [3817] come to a better adjustment to his situation.
