This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th St., Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of February, 1929, in accordance with request made by her son, [345].

1. EC: Yes, we have had the body here before, Mrs. [3826]. Now we find through MANY of the reactory forces of system the body improved from that as when we had this before, yet here may be seen the thorough demonstration of the differentiation between that of purely ADJUSTMENTS in the cerebro-spinal system of subluxations, or sublimations, and the manipulation from that of OSTEOPATHIC adjustments with the muscles and sinew used as leverages in same in making the adjustments, and of the stimulation as may be given to the system from ganglia or centers where a radial plexus HAS been involved, and where with the CORRECTIONS, one being left in such a way and manner as to cause tautness that would hinder the nerve supply as to bring about more TORTURE, more trouble to the body than was produced by the system’s attempting to segregate the condition in itself, and leaving the variations in different portions of system - or there is seen that a troubled condition may be segregated, and so segregated, call it into play in a SPECIFIC center as to bring detrimental conditions. While much of the condition is truly retractory, but the condition has become more localized in the lumbar and upper sacral region, so that to the lower extremities those ganglia as wrap about, as it were, the sciatic nerve, cause much pain when the body arises to walk or to exercise same.

2. Apply, then, over this portion of the body, those properties of a saturated solution of Epsom Salts, as hot as the body can well stand same, until the condition is allayed; that is, until the condition is almost entirely eased. Then use that means of treatment as GIVEN - OSTEOPATHICALLY given - so that the adjustments with the system may come in accord one with another, and thus bring about a better condition for the system. Well, too, were the ultra Violet light given occasionally in this present condition to STIMULATE the body to the proper reaction, both through the condition created by light AND heat, to both the lymph in its circulation, as the effect same produces in the nerve GANGLIA, and blood in its course through that portion of the body - applying same, then, to the lower portion of the body, especially from the lumbars to the knees, see? Do that. We are through for the present.

R1. 2/21/29 EC’s ltr. to [3826]‘s son: We were surprised to know that you were in Washington. I am sure though that you have an eye to carrying out your intent and purpose, and I’m sure it offers you better opportunity in Washington for your line than in Norfolk. Certainly am hoping that you get along nicely.

We were sorry indeed to know that your mother was not feeling so well. We, of course, hate to run into things of this character - but you know the readings will tell it as it is. I wish that it were possible for her to come down here and spend a while. We will possibly be open by the first. Suppose that you insist on her coming down as soon after the first as possible? and let her be right at the Hospital for a week or so and see if we can’t get this trouble straightened up. We are sending a copy of the reading directly to her, for there are some suggestions that she should be able to apply herself that should bring her some relief right away.

Be sure and let us hear from you, and insist on her letting us have the opportunity to do some good if we can. We haven’t opened the building yet, but there have been quite a number that have insisted on getting treatments, and our first patient has already come and gone - cured! He came down from Philadelphia on the 11th, and went out feeling just fine. [470]…

R2. 3/8/29 [3826]‘s son’s letter to EC: I was glad to get your letter and the reading. Mother wrote that it had described her condition very well and that she had improved very much since. I am still in doubt as to whether she could come down for treatment or not although I advised her to do so if she did not get better and would like for her to do so anyway, I think the rest and change of surroundings would do her good.

She is a very dutiful person and I doubt if she would leave home as she thinks it takes her individual attention to keep things in order and no doubt this is true to a certain degree as she and sister are alone.

In the meantime I will wait further developments as to her condition before letting you know. I was very much impressed with the ‘reading’ some of the symptoms were described as the doctor said they were but somehow he couldn’t get results.

Have you read William Dudley Pelley’s article in the March American Magazine on “My Seven Minutes in Eternity”? It is very interesting. Since coming to Washington I have heard many discussions on similar subjects. [GD’s note: See Par. R3 below for letterhead of Pelley’s organization we heard about in next 2-3 yrs.]

Last night while waiting for some books at the library there was a quotation done in gold leaf and paneled in grey hanging with many others on the wall. Due to the lighting and my position, it was most distinct. It read - ‘One God, One Law and One far off Divine Event to which all Humanity Moves.’ There is no doubt but that we are on a journey and it should be travelled hopefully.

R4. 3/12/29 EC’s letter to [345]: Glad to have yours of a few days ago, and to know that your mother is feeling some better. I do wish she would come down and spend a week, anyway, at the hospital - but I realize that conditions are very much as you say, she feels that it is absolutely necessary that she be at home, especially to look after things there for your sister. I would like for you to impress on her, though, that it is our desire to be of help and if she finds that she doesn’t feel just like she ought, why she should come down. We have several people taking treatment at the present time. Most of these are either Virginia Beach or Norfolk people. We are, little by little, getting things ironed out so that, no doubt, we will have those in the building to look after and take care of in the near future. Lot of things to be attended to, and rough edges to be smoothed off.

I’m sure you have a much more wonderful opportunity there in Washington, and I’m sure you are one of those that will take advantage of it. No, I don’t get the American Magazine and didn’t see the article you mentioned. We will get that magazine at the hospital after this month, and no doubt I will see and read more. I have so little time to give to reading now that it is mighty hard for me to keep up with things that I would like to.

I’m sure it was astonishing to you to see such a quotation staring you in the face, when there are so many ideas of what that ‘One God, One Law, and One far off Divine Event to which all Humanity moves’ means; yet it is the very thing we are attempting to show people through the offices of the Association.

Be sure, the first time you come down, that you come out and see us, if it is only for a minute. I want you to see the building now since it is completed. With kindest personal regards.
