This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at Altoona, Pa., this 9th day of May, 1923.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here. Now, we find there are many abnormal conditions in this body. All may be corrected through the proper treatment to the conditions in the system. The troubles have to do with the coordination of the nerve forces in the system, and the effect as reached by this improper condition in the body.

2. Now, these are conditions as we find them in this body, [3855], we are speaking of: In the beginning we find the effects as produced in the system at present date back some time to conditions as existed in the body, there formed by the reaction of a bacteria in the functioning organs and the effect it produced over the system, inactivity between the action of the voluntary and involuntary forces and of elimination through the ordinary channels or natural forces and as that, nature attempted to rebuild in the body to perform the functioning of those that were hindered by the action of this bacillus or bacteria. In the blood supply of the body we find the blood circulation from the inactive forces of a full coordinating circulation throughout, hence the elemental forces to replenish building tissue through the system is lacking in the first constituents of the blood itself. This condition is a natural condition from the effects of the body, see. The forces through the white blood supply makes that of secretions perform in abnormal ways over the system in the attempt to bring the condition about that would give the necessary life-giving function to the nerve and muscular forces about the body to perform the involuntary forces which gives then that of the improper conditions in portions of the body, that is, developments abnormal in portions of the body with the rest of the system here, as we have here.

3. The nerve forces here, the seat of the trouble, we find the centers along the whole spinal region are out of accord with the functioning of the muscles to carry the forces to the body, as we have at the brachial force, the second lumbar force and the sacral force, that is, the plexus, as it would be termed, of each does not coordinate with the mental forces to produce the proper functioning of the limbs in any of their action. The forces all become secondary rather then of volition or involition and only the sympathetic nerve energy that keeps the functioning organs in the voluntary forces give the life to the body, either through mental or physical forces, see.

4. In the functioning of the organs we find the underdevelopment of the body and only as we have given the abnormal development to portions by poor sympathetic forces to the specific organs as their cycle of development has progressed with the physical, see.

To give the proper incentive to this body we would first begin with that, that would give the incentive to the central portion of body and gradually build the nerve energy to the portions of system and cause the proper flow of nerve energy through the correct vibrations necessary for this individual ego or I, see. These would be found in this:

6. To two gallons of rain water in a glass container, add:

Heavy Sea Salt…1 pound, Plain Charcoal…1 pound, Copper Sulfate…1 1/2 pounds, Zinc…10 ounces, Sulfuric Acid C.P…1 1/2 ounces.

This we find would charge itself, but must be charged from those of electric forces of high amperage with low voltage. While being charged there would be suspended in this solution an opaque container holding one pound of iodine. This would be charged for thirty minutes, see, both poles being of copper. The ohms must reach as high as five see. The poles are then changed to one of copper, the other of nickle or silver, the negative being silver or nickle, see; small wires are attached to these poles, these ends in turn attached to a plate about the size of a half dollar, copper; this, each evening, the plate would be attached to this body at the tenth dorsal for twenty minutes, see. The reaction will show on the third day, see. After the second solution has been used, for it must not be allowed to go below two ohms for use before it would be renewed again, see - in or during the use of the second solution, the gentle massage of the whole system over that known as the Neuropathic forces should be applied to the body. This will gently and consistently bring about the development of the proper coordination in this body in the control of all nerve and muscular forces and development in the physical use of mental manifestation of self throughout. Do that.

7. (Q) Mr. Cayce, who will prepare this solution for the treatment? (A) Do as we have given. Anyone can do it.

8. (Q) Can the treatment be given in the home? (A) It is the home we will give it in. The body is the home. The treatment is at the home. We can give it anywhere the body is, in the evening just before the hour of rest for the body, see.

9. (Q) What about the diet for this body? (A) Give those to the developing body, and with the conditions as are carried, see, only those of the developing physical body. Do that, if we would bring the correct incentives to this body, [3855]. We are through.

R1. 6/27/23 Grandfather’s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thinking that you will be interested in just what we have accomplished in following the reading on May 9th, we are giving below some facts for your information.

We proceeded to get the proper things together to make the battery and we had to go all over the country to get them. We had an electrical engineer to put these things together and the result was a battery. On Thursday night, June 21st, we began the application and followed it three nights in succession and told the child to give us such information as he could as to the benefit of the treatment. On Saturday night, Mr. Kahn came over to our house and watched the application of the small copper plate to the child’s back and he also told the child to watch for any developments as after the third treatment, some results would be shown. The child has been using a brace but on this particular night he walked a few steps without the brace by holding his hand just above his knee. On Monday morning, he was able to walk entirely across the room without holding his leg and without the use of the brace, and he called to his grandmother to look that he was able to walk; which of course was very gratifying to us because up to the present time the treatment has acted as you said it would.

It has been very interesting to us to watch the various developments and note the several surprises we have had, as for instance we put the charcoal in the mixture and it floated but following your instructions, we left it float and the effect upon the muddy condition of the battery was to clarify it; so each of the ingredients has had its part in the show.

Now, as you know, in giving this treatment there are a number of questions that naturally arise that would not ordinarily arise when the reading is given and we are taking the liberty of asking you at your earliest convenience to give another reading on this child and answer the following questions given below. He is always at home and in bed after 8 o’clock but if you will wire at our expense we will have him at our home … St., at any time you desire.
