This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of August, 1930, in accordance with request made by his mother - Mrs. […].

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mrs. […] and little son [3873] and Miss Lillian Barclay.]

Time of Reading Cayce Hospital, 3:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Virginia Beach, Va. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [3873], this we have had before. Now, we find in the general physical conditions there is little change from that as we have had before. While the conditions show the EFFECTS of applications for the change in the vibrations in the system, there has not been SUFFICIENT change or alterations to say there is any permanent or definite change physically; yet the vibratory forces show that they will be effective, are the conditions adhered to in the manner as has been outlined. Ready for questions.

  2. (Q) As it is impossible for body to remain at Virginia Beach, will you give directions for treatments to be given at home? (A) Use the battery in the manner as has been outlined, and the manipulations as alter or change the direction of nerve and blood supply to the auditory nerves. These range from the 3rd and 4th dorsal to the 2nd cervical.

  3. (Q) Would the Radio-Active battery have the same effect as the wet battery? If not, will you give directions for having wet battery made and kept in order? (A) The vibratory forces of electrical change are necessary for the directing of the nerve ends as may enliven and give response to the auditory forces of the system. Hence these would be made in this manner:

In a glass or crock container, at least two gallons in capacity, we would put one and one-half gallons of rain water. To this we would add:

Plain Charcoal…1/2 pound, Copper Sulphate…1 pound, Sulphuric Acid C.P…1 pound, Common or Ordinary Zinc…3 drams.

We would prepare a cover of wood for the container. Through this cover we would make holes for the projection of bars, one of copper and the other of nickel. These may be round, half inch or quarter inch in diameter, or they may be of oblong or the square variety. These should project at least two inches above top, and be so arranged as to attach those of the anodes with flexible connections to the ends of the bars. To that of the copper bar we would attach a small anode. This anode or plate, thin plate, should be of metal; either that of the german silver or of copper. The other should be that of a larger anode, and should be of thin nickel. These, when being attached to the body, would be attached in the way and the manner as has been outlined. The solution charges as it discharges also to the body. Always attach the smaller anode first, see? The solution will last from three to three and one-half weeks. Then may be changed. Make all connections in such a manner as that they do not discharge when connecting with other metals. Well that they be made so that connections may be released from the poles as project into solution.

  1. (Q) Is there any truth in the theory of the foetal membranes presence in the eustachian tubes causing deafness? (A) No. This, as has been outlined, is from the condition as existed in the TEMPERAMENTAL conditions of the BODIES before its presentation, but not of the foetal matter.

  2. (Q) How long before a change in body’s hearing will be noticed? (A) From three to six months.

  3. (Q) To what osteopath in Kansas City should mother take the body? (A) To one who will follow the suggestions given!

  4. (Q) Did body at any time have normal hearing? (A) Not in this particular experience.

  5. (Q) Would the mother taking lessons in osteopathic massage help the body? (A) Would aid the body materially.

  6. (Q) Would you advise taking body to Dr. Edward, in St. Louis, Mo., to look over? (A) It won’t hurt! but he wouldn’t do anything! unless these are followed. Conditions as have been given, the NECESSARY passages for the auditory reactions are present. Those nerves that act with and through the drainages to the ear proper, show that the sound response is active in its reaction to that of the sensory system as of disconnected wire, or as of broken connections. That as is to be builded by the manner as has been outlined, is to create that connective tissue within the system as to cause the normal activity.

As has been indicated, and as has been outlined, this will require the cycle of change in the body. To lose faith, or patience, or confidence, is to allow the child in its development - and the man - to be handicapped in this experience. Either do it, or allow it to go undone! We are through.
