Time of Reading 11:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body and those conditions physical as surround the body, Mrs. [3876]. Those disturbing factors in the physical functioning, as we find, are many, when taken as a whole; yet the cause being subtle, to remove same there must be consideration given to the weakened conditions as have been brought about in the physical functioning of the body, that are now RESULTS rather than causes of the conditions; though at times these appear to be that imminent, or that that must be met in the present.
-
The conditions, as we find, are from poor eliminations, and the effect as has been produced in various portions of the functioning system by the character of the drosses that have been left in system; which, producing pressure in the mucous membranes of functioning system, has prevented the ACTIVITY - and forms as these conditions: A slow circulation, a heart action of abnormalcy, the blood supply thickened - as it were - carrying some elements as drosses, some as malaria, some as the effects of uremic poisons. The locomotions of the body being affected, the nerve tensions are excessive in portions of the body; drowsiness, as of an inactivity to the brain itself, unable to remember, and causes those of the laxness of activity in the cerebro-spinal and sympathetic system, making for the conditions wherein the whole system becomes as dizziness in head, as of the improper tastes to the system, the ineffectiveness of stimuli to arouse the body in any direction.
-
In meeting then the needs of the conditions, as we would find, these prepared in this manner and given would make for the bettered conditions of this body, [3876].
-
Take two quantities of those as has been prepared in that as of Toris Compound. Take half the quantity as is given with same of simple syrup, and half the quantity of Spirits Frumenti, and dissolve the two quantities in same. Then ADD to this 1/2 ounce of Compound Syrup of Sarsaparilla. The dose then as would be taken of this, would be a teaspoonful four times each day - see - until the whole quantity is taken. This would be taken before the meals and before bedtime.
-
We would also be mindful that the diet is that that is nerve and blood building, as this:
-
Mornings - hot cereals, with toast, Ovaltine as a drink, with occasionally altering with rice cakes or buckwheat cakes, or such; but these NOT with syrups - HONEY may be taken with same, see?
-
Noons - rather a green vegetable diet, with dressings either of the oils or mayonnaise, or the like.
-
Evenings - broths from meats, but not the meats; well cooked vegetables that carry PLENTY of iron, and in this meal there may be taken milk or a small amount of well made coffee.
-
After the whole quantity of the compound has been taken, we would begin with the violet ray vibration along the cerebro-SPINAL nerve system - see? This we would give at least twice each day.
-
We would also begin after this - after this compound is taken - with that of Atomidine, that we may enliven the glands of the body that NEED the tendency to be active in the system. These we would give in this manner, at least twice each day, in the beginning: Take three drops in half a glass of water. After taking this quantity for five days, increase the quantity to FIVE drops each dose for five days. Then increase same to eight drops twice each day for five days. Then REST from same for five days, and then begin with the three drops again - see? keeping up the vibrations at least twice each day from the violet ray. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Will such as washing affect her? (A) When these have begun to make for eliminations, just so the OVERTAXING is not too great.
-
That is all the questions.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 10/14/31 [3876]‘s husband’s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce -
Your reading for my wife 11:10 A.M. the 6th inst. was received promptly; I have delayed answering until I found the “Toris” Compound. I began to think it was not to be found here but I have found one bottle only. It is put up in 1 ounce bottles. The druggist don’t quite understand your formula - to save a mistake it may be best to give the quantities required in weights if possible.
I feel very much relieved and wish to get her started with the treatment as she is getting much thinner and weaker, yet she is up doing her work. I am very thankful to you for your kindness and hope I can soon repay you, yet. Think right now looks very blue for me - but I haven’t given up hope - going along looking up a line of Medical Preparations to start on when the opportunity presents itself. I have selected the “Medical Specialities Institute” as the name of the Co. I have parties that offer to put up the treatments as wanted and all the cash I need will buy circulars etc. With best wishes I am
Yours very truly, […]

My dear Mr. […]
In reply to yours of the 14th, as I read the information, it should not be hard for you to understand how the Toris Compound is to be put together; this is, you are to use two quantities - in whatever quantities put up. One quantity is prepared either with the simple syrup or with spirits frumenti (which, as you know, means whiskey - good whiskey, or prescription whiskey); and you take half the quantity that it says to use for the simple syrup compound, and half the quantity of the spirits frumenti, and mix the TWO ounces of the Toris Compound in these, and then take the dose as given in the reading. I’m sure she will get some real results with the use of this. Every time it has been prescribed, it has certainly given results. You will know, of course, from the package you have, as to where you may obtain more. I believe it is made in Dayton, Ohio, by the Globe Chemical Company. I’ll be anxious to know how she responds, and to hear from you as to how you get along with your undertaking.
Hoping to have been of service, and that you will let me know if there is anything further I can do, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R3. 11/7/31 [3876]‘s husband’s letter:
Dear friend Mr. Cayce -
When I wrote you Oct. 14th asking about directions how the Toris Compound was put together, I had not seen the directions on the package. The druggist did not let me see the package for some reason. I now have two bottles from DAYTON GLOBE DRUG CO. The delay no doubt seems strange to you, but its money matters I am waiting for - so have to go slow - now that I have received the Toris Compound, I am held up for the whiskey. I have a friend doctor, but he does not write whiskey prescriptions - but said he would give me “alcohol” if I could use it. Not wishing to make a mistake I am writing you again for your advice. Whiskey here is
1.50 half pint and1. for prescription, but if necessary I will get the whiskey. No doubt you think I am very tedious, but I can’t afford to make a mistake on this, as I know we are going to get results, if I can once get started. Thanking you again for your kindness. I am as ever,Yours very truly […]
R4. 12/7/31 EC’s letter to [3876]‘s husband:
Dear Mr. […]
In reply to yours of recent date regarding the compounding of the Toris compound, I would suggest that you obtain the spirits frumenti if possible, rather than the alcohol, for it would be very much better - and there is quite a difference in the effect upon the system. The spirits frumenti would be beneficial to portions of the muco-membrane system, while the alcohol would only be a stimuli to other portions. I hope you will be able to obtain this, and that very soon Mrs. [3876] will be enjoying the benefits that may be derived from it.
Hoping you will let us hear from you from time to time, thanking you for your inquiry, and assuring yes it is our desire to help whenever it is possible, I am - with all good wishes,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD
R5. 10/19/33 [3876]‘s husband’s letter:
…, Ohio Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
My dear Mr. Cayce:
It’s been a long time since I have written you, not that I had forgotten you, but so many things has happened to prevent in the way of troubles and despair I could not even afford stamps besides I know you haven’t the time to have your mind filled with other misery.
My wife sleeps much better now, but I have had to neglect further treatments, but now whiskey will soon be cheaper. I hope to continue the treatments.
I have not improved in health. If I could regain, so I could do more walking, I think I could find a little business to keep me going, but my doctor friends do not seem to know what to do for me. I hope sometime to be able to have you give me a Psychic reading to locate my trouble. Hoping this finds you well and prospering, I am,
Yours very truly, […]
R6. 10/24/33 EC’s letter to [3876]‘s husband:
My dear Mr. […]
Yours of the 19th has been received, and I was glad indeed to have a word from you. I would like for you to rest assured, Mr. […] that though we may be passing through a very serious, trying, sometimes despairing and discouraging time, we are always glad to hear from those whom we have tried - and are glad to try - to assist or aid, whether in the trying circumstances as ourselves, or whether they are meeting the issues day by day so as to be of a real service and worthwhileness to their fellow man. We are always glad to hear from every one.
Indeed I am glad to know that your wife appears somewhat better, and I certainly hope it will be possible for you to soon continue the treatments so she may have a full recovery and be able to serve and her life be more of a pleasure.
As for yourself, I am sure you recognize the fact, Mr. […], that while we depend wholly upon the contributions from those we try to aid, we never refuse to try and be of service when possible. If we can be of a service in aiding you to gain something of a more stableness in yourself, physically and mentally, no doubt it would enable you to be of more help to us and a mere liberal contributor to the work of this organization.
It is necessary that each and every individual whom we try to serve become a member, and even though we may not receive large contributions - only a few pennies a month from such a member, this is sometimes more valuable to us when the contributions, though small, are regular.
It may be that I’ll be away from the city for the next two weeks, but rest assured that as soon as it is practical we will be very glad to be of a service if it is at all possible.
Appreciating your letter, and trusting we may be of a service, I am
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce EC:GD

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Thanks for your letter of the 28th inst. My wife will be at … Ave., …, O. Oct. 6th between 11:00 and 12:00 o’clock Eastern Standard Time. I would like to know the cause of her fainting attacks? Also what is the cause of her mind [crossed out] being so forgetful? Will such as washing effect her - she had a stroke last December but by the use of the Violet-Ray twice a day she has improved, but her mind appears to be effected. As to what I am doing. There is little for me now since the music business has played out. I am trying to get a position with the state until I can get my medicine business started.
