This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 18th day of March, 1942, in accordance with request made by self, [391], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and enquiring mind of [391], who is at …, Md., who seeks information, advice and guidance as to the procedure for him to follow considering the present and future welfare of his son, [1208]. You will also consider the divorce decree obtained by [934] on 1/28/42 in … Courthouse, the legal papers of proceedings now in the office of … [lawyer] … Also you will have before you the entities [1208] and [934] at … Considering [391]‘s desire to secure the best possible environment and training for his child, you will answer the questions that may be asked.

2. EC: Yes. In considering conditions as to the partially granted decree, it is necessary that some reply be made no matter what may be the eventual determining factors. There will be the necessity for this answer, as to whether the court eventually grants the custody of the child to the mother or to the father, or to some individual or individuals for the rearing of same. This then needs that answers be made at once.

3. (Q) The lawyer advises that the divorce could not be granted without [391]‘s consent and that [391] could claim custody. (A) This must be answered within self; as to whether there may be made those associations or arrangements in which there can be given as advantageous an opportunity for the child with the father in the army, these would be considerations of those under whom the guidance and direction might be given. These must be answered within self. For, to be sure, it becomes a problem when the custody of a child is to be taken from the mother. Yet, the circumstances and the environs would warrant that most any measures be taken to prevent this present environ.

4. (Q) How can it be done with the least harm to those concerned? (A) What’s already been done is the most harm to undo, or to change. We may expect a great deal of animosity and hate, a great deal of things that may even lead to things that would be very questionable to many. Under the circumstances these may be expected.

5. (Q) If I leave him with her will he get the environment he needs for the best development? Or would he be better under my custody? (A) These may not be given; these are wills of people.

6. (Q) Any spiritual advice? (A) Each should adhere to that as if the circumstances were reversed, “What would Jesus have me do?”

7. We are through for the present.
