This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of January, 1927, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [3914], via Mrs. Harry McWilliams.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find there are those physical conditions with this body that produce disturbances in the physical functioning of the body. This particularly so through the lower dorsal and lumbar region, bringing distresses through pressure as is created in those regions where lesions are formed in that region of adhesions in the body.

4. These, then, are the conditions as we find them:

In the pelvic region, in this is the seat of the greater distress, especially in the left side where there were torn portions of the uterus, and in the return to the position in the false pelvis these adhered, or adhesions occurred, through improper coagulation. These, producing pressure on the organs of the pelvis, produce the lesion in the lumbar and lower dorsal. Through this disturbance we find many disorders are brought about in the physical functioning of the body, especially when the body is on feet, and near the period of normal menstruation this plethora condition produced brings distresses through the side, in loins, and in the mesenteric system. Through such irritation, the nervous system becoming overtaxed, produces headaches, inability to locomote, as it were, or to bring about the normal functioning of any portion of the system requiring the strength or vitality of the system.

6. Unless these conditions are removed, and the system brought nearer to the normal condition, the improper functioning and irritation will continue until there is produced such adhesions and such lesions as to bring about those conditions that would form those of the nature becoming in a manner and form of running sores, terminating either in forms of those pus sacks that would necessarily mean removal by operation, or becoming malignant in form such as to take away the whole vitality of the body.

7. Then, to meet the needs of the conditions at the present time, and to bring about normal conditions, we would find that those manipulations as would be NEUROPATHICALLY given gradually break up the lesions and adhesions, and by the care of the person - in taking douches of small amount of Creolin in warm water in vagina (about teaspoonful to half a gallon of water, or that proportion), as to cleanse any secretions from same that are thrown off when such lesions and adhesions are broken up - we will gradually bring the body back to the normal condition, and overcome these existent forces in this body.

8. When the massage of the neuropath and the adjustments are made, it would be well were these rubbed in also:

9. Equal parts of Tincture of Myrrh and Olive Oil - heating the oil, then adding myrrh to same. Massage this in the lower portion of the abdomen and groin, and across the lumbar and sacral region.

10. When pain or misery of these natures arise from these conditions, the application of very warm packs of salt will be found very beneficial - more effective if those parts that give pain are kept bathed in pure apple vinegar when packs are applied, or rag or cloth wrung out (not entirely dry, but wrung out) of the solution and laid next to the skin - then packs applied. This will bring relief.

11. For the conditions as arise from inflammation in intestinal system, and for the benefit of the appetite to gain strength through these portions of the system, well that the lower intestine or colon be kept cleansed, even though enemas are used. Rather use the enema than too much of purgatives, though mild salines would be effective and beneficial; such as would be found in those of sodas as are especially prepared for such conditions, see?

12. Necessary that at least two periods - of menstruation periods - be covered by the treatments, and of the massage of the myrrh and olive oil - these being given once to three times each week - the massage neuropathically every day.

13. Do this, if we would bring the better conditions and rid the system of those existent conditions that would bring detrimental forces for the body.

Dear [3914]

We enclose you the reading as was gotten this afternoon. I certainly am in hopes that you will carry out the suggestions as are made for the better improvement of your physical condition, for unless you do something real soon you’re going to be in bad shape.

The neuropath treatments - you can get them there alright. I believe, if I were you, I’d try to make arrangements with Mrs. Gray. I feel sure she would come as near or nearer to carrying out the full suggestion as is made as anybody you will find, and she’s a graduate neuropath. Or, there is a Miss Grapes there. She knows SOMETHING of the work, but has not had the personal application or seen the results of the work like Mrs. Gray has in her own family. I’d like for you to be sure and let us hear from you from time to time, for we want to see you get well if possible.

I’m glad to say we are all a whole lot better here. I was real sick right after Christmas, as were most of the others. Edgar Evans is still on the improve, though not well enough to be back in school as yet.

Dear [3914]

Yours of the 9th received. I haven’t the time nor the opportunity at present to write you, but I just want you to know we appreciate your letting me hear from you. I’m glad indeed to know you are feeling so much better, and I feel very sure if you will be very consistent with the suggestions as have been given that you will get excellent results. I’m sure you will find Mrs. Gray a very competent and very conscientious worker, and I’m sure she will do you a whole lot of good. I’m glad to know you have found by closer association that you think more of her as a friend and as to her abilities. I’m sure you did well in choosing her as the right one to give you your treatments.

The visit here has been very pleasant in a great many ways, and I’m in hopes will be beneficial to us all. I think, however, we will be leaving in a few days, and you can let us hear from you at Virginia Beach. I’m sure I will be there within ten days or two weeks - as I expect to stop a day or so on the way home with my sister who lives farther up the state.

I certainly would like to see those boys. I’m sure you realize you have a great responsibility in giving them the proper training in their youth, so that when they grow up they will be men that will be worth while - and I am sure you will want them to always be happy and proud of their mother. So take good care of them.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Mrs. (Maude Maroney) McWilliams advised me to write you about my-self. As I have suffered with my left side since my second boy came, which is my baby. Last March I had something like a paralytic stroke. Doctor’s said caused from my nerves. Could hardly walk for a long while. By taking adjustments I am able to walk all right, but do suffer dreadfully with head aches, and with the back of my neck. I can’t strain myself but very little or my neck will pain me, then I’ll have one of those dreadful headaches. So […] told me to write you & have you to have a reading for me. And he would pay you. ([…] said do please get me well again.) How’s Edgar Evans? You should see my boys, 6 & 3 yrs. old. If you have time when you write please tell me how your father is, as I so often think of him. So Gladys Davis went with you. Please Mr. Cayce do this for me, won’t you? I hate to bother you but long ago you told me you would help me, if ever I were sick when I married. So I shall see. Attend to this as quickly as possible. And […] will be more than glad to pay you.

Mr. Gray told me that Mrs. Gray spent a month there last summer. He has a good business now it seems. Do hope to hear from you real soon.

Dear [3914]

You know I shall be very glad to try to be of help if it is possible. We were very glad to hear from you, but sorry to know that you have been, and still are, unwell. I am sorry that we will not be able to get to this for you for several weeks, as the first open appointment is the afternoon of the 22nd of January. Possibly you will think that this is a long time off, but you know we have to have some regular order, and we have the appointments as we receive the requests. If this day and time is satisfactory, you will please fill out the enclosed card and return, and be sure to keep the appointment - that is, be wherever you say on the card you will be at that time.

I certainly was surprised to know that you had another boy. I’m sure that you are proud of both of them. I hope they are both real well and that you and […] are getting along fine.

We have changed around considerably, of course, since I left Selma. In Dayton, Ohio, about two years, and here about a year now. We like here fine! It is a summer resort - not a very large place as yet, but certainly has the promise of a good big place. We have all been pretty well.

Yes, we had two visitors from Selma last summer - Mrs. Gray and her children were here for two or three weeks, and Mrs. Priester and her little girl. We hear from Selma once in a while - it seems like there have been a great many changes there.

Hugh Lynn is in college this year - Washington and Lee. Edgar Evans had a very bad accident about three or four weeks ago - got badly burned. His nightclothes caught on fire and his left leg was burned badly from the ankle to the hip, on the back side. He has suffered a heap with it, and hasn’t gotten so he is able to get about yet - it makes it pretty hard on him as well as the rest of the household.

Yes, Miss Gladys has been with us ever since we left Selma, and the greater part of the time has had a room in the home, and we have had the office in the home most of the time. Of course, we are doing this work entirely now, and all of our resources depend upon the contributions from those we try to help. Of course, you know I am glad to do whatever I can for you and […] - but I’m in hopes that you will FOLLOW OUT the suggestions and get real well. I’m sorry to make this so long off, but its the best I can do - I hope it will be satisfactory.
