This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 21st day of September, 1928, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [3952], via David E. Kahn.

1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [3952] of Room 410, Building #77, General Electric Co., #1 River Road, Schenectady, N.Y., and his business associations and relations. You will answer the questions which I shall ask you regarding the same.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [3952] and those business associations and relations as exist. Ready for questions.

3. (Q) Should I make a change in present business associations? (A) There are many elements entering in the consideration of such, for there are many varied conditions as surround the association of the body [3952] with its present relations and the changes as might be, or as are contemplated by the body. These, then, should be approached rather in a different status than just as a change; for the remuneration, or for the difference in surroundings, or for the difference in the attitude of individuals - these are only a portion of the body’s duties. First there should be considered as to whether the intent, purport, of the body is such that in the new surroundings, new conditions, new environs, the body mentally and physically will be able to serve OTHERS in the better capacity. Not the attitude that the body would be able through its own individual abilities, and its associations and relations, to take advantage OF conditions as HAVE existed, and in common parlance “Put one over”. This a portion of conditions existent in the minds of some associated in this change. Would this be carried to the seed, as comes from such intent, there can only come evil from such change. Would the body so fit self, so prepare self, and so WILL within self’s own individual self that through the change better service, better understanding, honest, true, sincere service is GIVEN, then well to make such change. WITHOUT that, do not change; for there are associations in the PRESENT surroundings tending to make FOR better conditions than the leeway as WILL be given the body under other changes. Would the body consider self strong and sufficient in self to KNOW right, and DO right for Right’s sake - rather than for individual interests, then MAKE of self a MAN in the change; for not by slick trading, not by the individual’s association taking advantage of OTHERS, may SUCCESS become the criterion - but let success BE the OUTCOME of a life spent in SERVICE; that is service in the Right, to do right for Right’s sake. With such in thine own heart and inner self, a change would be well.

4. (Q) Would I make a successful move by joining organization of Carolina Wood Products Co. at Asheville, N.C.? (A) We have given that as the criterion for the body; for let it here be given that, without that as has been given being the criterion for self’s activities, a success NOWHERE may come to this body. WITH that AS a criterion, MOST any direction - and with the Carolina Wood Products; yet, AS GIVEN, in that sphere much leeway is given. Are the inmost thoughts of self equal to meet these environs? Determine that in self.

5. (Q) Will my family happiness be better in Asheville? (A) Would the body, mind and consciousness, be in the direction to make such, yes. But there is more than a one-sided side to this unrest.

6. (Q) In what capacity would I be valuable at the Carolina Wood Products Co? (A) In the finish end, and inspection thereof. Making self one of those through whom the product is produced. Think not that the body may lord over ANY; for he that would be great must be SERVANT of all. In the capacity, then, as a servant to those that control finish and delivery; but NOT in the capacity of a servant doing biddings that there is even a question mark after! But rather in that capacity as the servant that makes known to each and everyone concerned in the product that there must not BE the question mark after any, or any other one concerned WITH the development, delivery, the finish, or the product in itself as a whole. With that in mind, with that as given set first, then let the change come through the channels that the body is being sought by one who would finish such production FOR those with whom the body has been associated. We are through.

My dear Mr. [3952]

We enclose, herewith, the information gotten in your reading. Not being acquainted with you, I hardly know how to talk with you even about it. I’m sure, though, that you will find some interesting information, no matter from what standpoint mentally you observe the information given. I’m sure a purely material-minded man would cast this aside and call it bunk. Possibly it is bunk. I hardly think you are such a man, else it would NOT have approached the subject in the manner it did. My version of the thing is that you have an opportunity to do a great good for yourself and all concerned if you approach the conditions in the proper manner, and feel equal to the situation. Otherwise, it doesn’t advise you to make a change. I’ll be quite anxious to know your reaction, and will appreciate your letting me hear from you. Certainly hope I’ll have the opportunity to meet you in person sometime in the very near future. We are indeed glad to have you associated with us, if you are really interested in what we are trying to do, and we trust we may be and may have been of service.
