This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 26th day of December, 1924, in accordance with request made by her husband, through Dr. Beazley.

Time of Reading Western State Hospital, 3:50 P. M. Dayton Time. Hopkinsville, Ky.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will give the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief for this body.

2. EC: Now, we find there are abnormal conditions with this this body. While the physical appearance has little to show or manifest as to those conditions that produce the physical reaction in system, that brings much distress to the body through its mental, yet we find these conditions upon closer examination of the physical body: First:

3. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, these we find very good in their various channels, yet they carry much in the blood flow that should be eliminated in their proper channels. Hence leaving the system in the much better condition to function through the normal forces in body.

4. IN THE NERVE SYSTEM, this, too, we find under distress, both from pressure in portions of body by physical condition, also the reaction as received through blood forces not eliminating properties brings pressure on centers that deviates the sensory system in such a manner that the expression as found in the body gives those hallucinations that become so detrimental to self and self’s satisfaction, and distress to others seeing these manifestations.

5. In the pelvic organs we find the physical condition causing distress on the body. This produced in times back, at the time when there was the condition of pregnancy, and the pressure as produced brought the pressure in the form of a lesion to the pituitary or pineal glands, and reacting through pituitary glands in brain centers. This is the physical condition, and the manifestations are the reactions from same.

6. IN THE FUNCTIONING OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, we find these very good, save as this distress brings the hallucinations to such an extent that it becomes directed to self and to self’s condition as associated with others. Hence we have times when the body is normal, and at such times berates itself for the inability to control self.

7. Then to bring the normal conditions for this body, while it will take care and attention, and be hard to do, under the mass conditions, this may be accomplished with persistence, and consistent use of these properties for the body; giving this first as the conditions for the general system in blood supply:

Fluid Extract Yellow Dock Root…1/2 ounce, Fluid Extract Burdock Root…1/2 ounce, Fluid Extract Stillingia…1/2 ounce, Fluid Extract Poke Root…1/4 ounce, Iodide of Potassium…30 grains, Simple Syrup sufficient to make…6 ounces.

8. Dose would be half a teaspoonful twice each day. Also relieve the condition in the pelvis by deep manipulation, applying heat to the body (electrical heat, and moist heat) to relax the body, that there may be no improper reaction with the relaxation.

9. When the whole quantity of medicinal properties has been taken, and the manipulation given every other day during this whole time, then let the body rest for ten days.

10. Then begin and give these properties: To 15 ounces of Distilled Water add:

Chloride of Gold…15 grains, with Bicarbonate of Soda…30 grains.

The dose would be first beginning with five drops, once each day, increasing one drop each day until twenty drops are being given.

11. When at least third to a half of this quantity has been taken (keeping the manipulations and general conditions looked after in eliminations) we will see the beginning of the correction of these conditions.

12. As the mind becomes longer distance between hallucinations, when treatments are given, keep the suggestions until it reaches the inmost being of the body, correcting itself from within, through the Divine in self.

13. Do that, and we will bring this body, [3996] to its normal conditions.

Yours of the 22nd received, with enclosure, for which I thank you very much. I am enclosing you, herewith, copy of the reading as gotten for Mrs. [3996] and I’m very much in hopes this will prove very beneficial in her finding relief from the trouble.

I think I would have Dr. Beazley take this up with Dr. House, personally. As you perhaps know, my wife and I consider Dr. and Mrs. Beazley among our closest friends, as for some time we were to-gether quite a great deal. We’re certainly sorry to know of this misfortune, and trust we may be able to be some means towards gaining relief for Mrs. [3966]. As you know, Dr. House and Dr. Beazley are very close friends. Dr. House has seen a great deal of good from the readings as have been given. Some of his experiences being in his own family. Hence I think that you will have the opportunity for Mrs. [3996] to have the benefit of this experience, and I’m certainly in hopes that it will prove very beneficial.

I shall be very glad at any time, that either you, Dr. House, or Dr. Beazley should feel that it would be beneficial, should they wish a more thorough understanding of the case, to give more readings, and I’d be very glad to follow this out closely for you, if you desire that I do so.

Dear Sir:-

With regard to your communication to Dr. H. C. Beazley regarding psychic reading of my wife’s body, Mrs. [3996] who now is confined to the Western State Hospital, near Hopkinsville, Ky.

I am enclosing herewith check with application card filled out to cover the reading. I have requested Dr. Beazley to communicate with Dr. House in regard to the time set for the reading.

I will give you a brief history of her case so far as I am able to do so which may be beneficial in your diagnosis. She began about 18 months ago, afflicted with delusions of a persecutory nature and they gradually grew worse until her condition reach[ed] the point where I was advised by physicians to commit her to the institution, as she was not safe to be at large. She never offered to commit any violence to any one, but had an idea that some one was trying to do her harm, mostly by telling falsehoods that would ruin her character. I trust that you may offer a solution that will result in her speedy recovery.
